“Very disappointing stay. Before booking, I specifically contacted Southern Vacation Rentals about a previous review mentioning black mold and was told it had been addressed. Upon arrival, there was still visible black mold in both bathrooms. The property was also very dirty, stained floors, dog hair throughout the couches/pillows, stained pillows, heavy dust, and a nasty fridge oder. Checkin was frustrating. At 3:32 PM, I called about getting the code early and was told the property wasn’t ready and a manager had to complete a walkthrough. That never happened, but we eventually received the code anyway. The listing was also misleading about the 6seater golf cart. It appeared one was available at the property for a fee, but we were instead told to find and reserve one ourselves. The beach chairs/equipment shown in the photos were not provided either and only two camping chairs instead. No basic toiletries were provided, not even dishwasher detergent. Not worth it, skip this rental”

“Master bathroom smelled so bad, had caked feces that looked before like it had not been cleaned for a long time”

“The condo was great and the location was perfect. However, simple items that almost all Airbnb rentals have as well as hotels were lacking. There is a coffee pot but no coffee, most offer at least one single coffee packet and a filter. There was a washer and dryer but no single use complimentary laundry soap or even an area on the grounds to get some. This seems small but was very frustrating and for the cost these small items should be thought of and included.”

“Would never book here again. The condo itself was very pretty, clean and right next to the beach which are the only good things i can say. Unexpected fees include having to pay $50 per car up to two in order to park in the only parking lot available. Customer service was horrible as nobody on the southern vacation side are on the same page & tell you two totally different things. Ice price is outrageous & another unexpected fee was the chairs on the beach you have to rent out for $50 Each per day. For the amount you pay for the condo itself, parking and the already existing beach chairs should be complimentary.”

“Parking was a nightmare. Not even close to room. Kitchen way smaller than made to believe. Stove- Only 1 eye on the stove worked. Needs a Can opener. Refrigerator not cooling like it is supposed to. Would have Love for those things to be updated especially paying 2300 dollars for 3 nights and 4 days! Host didn't unlock door early. Even after paying 60 Dollars DAYS AHEADS! Had to wait. For as much as I paid I Would Have thought it would be More Up to Date on the Appliances!!! But the flip side!! Its amazingly peaceful. Great Location!! Love the Pool! Love the beach access. Traffic is crazy crazy so plan ahead!”

“Upon arrival we couldn't get into the unit with the provided code. We called the host and once we were provided a new code we were able to access the condo. Upon entry there were workers inside the condo working on one of the showers. I still had the lady on the phone from where we had to get the new door code and told her about the workers. The workers told me that it would still be a few hours before they were done working on the shower and that the shower couldn't be used for 24hrs since they had to put sealant on it. At that point I told the lady on the phone that we would rather stay somewhere else, but they said they didn't have another property on site. After waiting a few hours we finally heard back from someone and they offered to move us to a 1 bedroom condo at a different location which we didn't want. I was able to get Airbnb involved and they agreed that the solutions that Southern Vacation Rentals provided wasn't adequate. Airbnb made it right instead of the host.”

“The condo is the a good location on the edge of fort Walton and close to Destin. However, the condo was not clean at all. Cockroaches everywhere in the condo all the time and no host came to fix the problem. Definitely do not make a room available if there are pests in the room.”

“It’s an HOA. They change rules to fit them. Inconsiderate to renters.”

“The reason I booked this honeymoon was for the pool. When we arrived on Wednesday I messaged and called about the pool. I was told a work order was being placed. Everyday I asked about someone coming to clean the pool and was eventually told someone would come Friday or Saturday and that maybe the storm had blown dirt and leaves in the pool. I expressed it was not dirt and leaves, but algae from lack of maintenance. Also, We were only going to be there through Sunday. I ended up buying chlorine at the store and we got the robot to do some form of cleaning. I got a message Friday saying the vendor had come out but would need to return the following day. Needless to say, I never saw anyone nor did the pool ever get cleaned. Other than this the home was great! It was clean and peaceful; but having 4 kids that wanted to enjoy the pool and it not be cleaned, meant we had to spend time and money finding other things to keep them entertained.”

“I’ll start with all this happed in the 2 days we stayed. Absolutely worst place we’ve ever stayed. Super dirty. Multiple problems. Toilet didn’t work. Took 3 trips to finally get it fixed. Day 1, GLASS ON THE BALCONY THAT MY CHILD STEPPED ON!! Hair in the bathroom. Dust all over the place. Rug looked as if it hadn’t been vacuum in months. Crumbs under the couches. Smoke detector beeping. Balcony door got stuck locked, finally got opened. FINGERNAIL CLIPPINGS IN FLOOR!!! I will never book again. I have never had an issue with an Airbnb place until now. This is unacceptable and I do NOT recommend anyone staying here!”
