Manager Review

Southern Vacation Rentals

Southern Vacation Rentals's guest rating of 4.51 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

The house was beautiful. The beach across the street gorgeous but you had to go down 3-4 flights of stairs to get to it- my parents had difficult time. I asked about this before renting the unit and I was assured it was flat walk out to the beach. The pool was tiny for the neighborhood and only 5 feet deep and hot and it was behind the houses. Our ice maker did not work entire stay. We had bad communication about check in and out. I was told a month in advance we could check out late and I paid extra for it- then in day of arrival they told me that they did not have late check out for that home but did refund fee. They also told me a month in advance to come around 2-3 pm on check in and call to get in early- if unit was clean. We got there at 3 pm and then told me that they never said this- after I assured them cleaning people were gone they let us go in at 330 pm. There was a lot of bad communication and misleading info.

The property was very nice, but we were very disappointed overall. The pool was one of the main reasons we chose this property. Upon arrival, we noticed the pool was extremely dirty. We also found a rat in the pool filter. We called and requested that the pool be cleaned, but it never happened. The first floor was also covered with ants, which was a huge inconvenience. Additionally, the bathroom door on the first floor had a faulty lock, and the sink on the top floor was clogged and drained very slowly. Overall, the condo itself was very nice, but because of the issues described above, we were very dissatisfied with our stay.

The lock to the back door did not work and was not addressed during our stay.

I’ll start with all this happed in the 2 days we stayed. Absolutely worst place we’ve ever stayed. Super dirty. Multiple problems. Toilet didn’t work. Took 3 trips to finally get it fixed. Day 1, GLASS ON THE BALCONY THAT MY CHILD STEPPED ON!! Hair in the bathroom. Dust all over the place. Rug looked as if it hadn’t been vacuum in months. Crumbs under the couches. Smoke detector beeping. Balcony door got stuck locked, finally got opened. FINGERNAIL CLIPPINGS IN FLOOR!!! I will never book again. I have never had an issue with an Airbnb place until now. This is unacceptable and I do NOT recommend anyone staying here!

To preface this, this is the second year in a row we stayed at this house. It was becoming a tradition for our family until this year. Our first encounter to the house was spectacular so much so we couldn’t wait to book again for year two. However year two was beyond disappointing. To start, there was trash all throughout the sand pit as well as stuffed in planters in the front yard. The table in the kitchen was sticky and there were dishes in the dishwasher. The attention to detail wasn’t here this year like it was last year. Continuing on to the quality of the home as it was also disappointing. You pull into the house and the garage door had a huge hole in it due to it being hit. There are no outside flood lights at night, the elderly in our group had trouble navigating the walkway in the dark it is also a safety concern. The shower door in one of the bathrooms was broken it wouldn’t move. There is broken / slanted decor through out. As well as trash in the outside sand pit area.

We stayed at this Airbnb while traveling with our two-year-old daughter and had an uncomfortable experience that needs to be addressed. Property management emailed us around 9 AM regarding an issue that needed to be addressed, but we were on vacation and unplugged from our phones, so we did not immediately see the email or app notification. Once we saw it later in the day, we responded right away. That evening, we came downstairs to find two women outside our unit after our door had been opened. We had personally closed and locked the door before going upstairs. As parents traveling with a young child, this was extremely upsetting and made us feel violated and unsafe. A simple note on the door or waiting for a response would have been the appropriate way to handle the situation. Opening an occupied rental without communication is a major privacy and security concern. There were also no light bulbs installed in any of the exterior light fixtures, leaving the outside area extremely d

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience with this apartment. When we arrived, the unit was extremely dirty and clearly not properly maintained. There was construction dust everywhere, a very strong construction smell inside the apartment. I even developed allergy symptoms because of the dust. Several things in the apartment were broken: coffee machine did not work, the curtain was torn, there was a leak in the ceiling, and there was also water leaking inside the refrigerator. Overall, the apartment looked very worn down and neglected. The most frustrating part was that it took a long time and a lot of discussion before we finally got help. Only after contacting Airbnb support did the company reach out and offer us another apartment. In the end, we were able to move, but only after having to spend one uncomfortable night in these conditions. I appreciate that they eventually offered a solution, but the entire situation caused unnecessary stress during our trip.

Beware- paid for a 3 night stay. Host declined to activate pool heating stating that I needed a 3 night stay- again which I had. Cameras in pool area as well- no privacy. Host difficult to communicate with response time is lacking. No amenities such as coffee etc for the amount paid. Floor divider was glued on with tacky glue- easy to trip over. Lastly the location is in the deepest part of a maze neighborhood address might lead you to the school on the next street over that’s closed off.

this place was absolutely disgusting. house keeping had to come twice and the place was still not clean. the floors were disgusting house keeping came and mopped over dirty floors. the ladder on the bunk beds were BLACK. we cleaned them ourselves. people will enter your room without informing and change the code on the door. the door was left open when returning back to the room. asked to speak to a manager but there is not one to be found. the dishwasher smelled like something died in it. the living room furniture was dingy and gross. overall terrible experience. do not recommend.

The host failed to let us know that there was major construction going on during our stay. We booked room 1708 which is on the top floor, to eliminate disturbances and was woken up every morning to salsa music and crews recovering the patio and paining outside. The entire panoramic view was filled with ropes, blue tarps and cables and the patio was locked with the patio furniture stuck in the middle of our living room for the duration of our stay. Of course, Southern Realty failed to offer any solutions or to offer any discounts. Why would a beach vacation rental company wait until spring break to do these maintenance jobs?
