4.76Visit website
LocalVR's guest rating of 4.76 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“If you have other options, I would recommend booking elsewhere. I had to rebook a place on short notice due to a change of plans, and I regret not paying closer attention to previous reviews. Pros: The property is located in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood. Cons: The listing photos are misleading; the home is much smaller than expected. The mattress in the primary bedroom is very uncomfortable. There is no dresser in the primary bedroom, and the closet doors are broken with very limited usable space. The primary bathroom is extremely small. The home would benefit from a thorough deep cleaning and better ongoing maintenance. The BBQ grill did not work and was quite dirty. While there was an offer to reimburse for refilling the tank, I would have expected it to be clean and functional upon arrival. Several other items were either broken or not properly maintained, including a non-working coffee maker. Basic essentials such as coffee, sugar, and cooking oil were not provided.”airbnb

“The home itself was plenty big for nine, in a great location and the outdoor area was incredible with the private pool, shaded area, and plenty of seating. Checkout was very easy. No issues with onsite resident. The home was not well cleaned, which I reported; we did receive partial refund of the cleaning fee. They offered to come and resolve the issues, but we cleaned some areas ourselves and just slept without what we felt were blankets that had not been washed well. We experienced significant frustration over the listings statement that the hot tub was heated. When I found that it was not and resolved per their instructions, I was later notified I would be billed for turning on the heat. Ultimately, we were not charged for this included amenity, but the whole situation could have been avoided if they had actually read the chats and communications. Chats were quickly “responded” to (seemed to be automated) but their “local team” was slow to respond to these issues and concerns.”airbnb

“The beach house itself was beautiful, clean, and exactly as described. The location was great, and we were excited to spend our vacation relaxing by the beach. Unfortunately, our experience with the host made it difficult to fully enjoy our stay. Throughout the trip, we received multiple complaints and messages that made us feel like we had to constantly watch what we were doing. We were respectful of the property and followed the house rules, but it felt as though we couldn't relax without worrying about another complaint. When paying for a beachfront vacation rental, guests should be able to enjoy their time comfortably and make memories without feeling like they need to be completely silent or avoid normal vacation activities. While the home itself was wonderful, the host's approach took away from what could have been an excellent stay.”airbnb

“The house was amazing and so was the location, but our air conditioning was out on the third floor for 3/4 days that we stayed, we didn’t have wifi the entire time in a low service area, and our hot water went out on our third day so it was miserable taking a shower. They offered a possibly reimbursement before the trip because they knew about the wifi, but they won’t even finish reviewing and help give me a reimbursement for the other things. I’m unsatisfied with how those three amenities were and how it’s being handled.”airbnb

“The A-frame itself is a beautiful, clean space for a Tahoe getaway (although dusty and with a lot of spider webs). However, we had a severe privacy and safety issue with the management (LocalVR). Midway through our stay, we returned to find a package delivered inside the locked house. The host confirmed in writing that the homeowner generated temporary access codes for a delivery driver to enter the home while we were out, completely without our prior knowledge or consent. Finding out a stranger was granted unmonitored access to a house where my five-year-old and one-year-old were sleeping was deeply unsettling. The property is lovely, but their approach to guest security is way below par.”airbnb

“Renters beware....hot tub is missing. Before booking, if the hot tub amenity is important to your stay, ask about it first or look elsewhere. When I originally booked this location 5 months ago, the listing shows hot tub is included. It is in the description, title of the listing, pictures, etc. The hot tub was the only reason I booked this location. Upon arrival, the hot tub missing completely. The host never informed us of this before arrival and it is still showing as an amenity today! When I reached out to ask about the missing hot tub, I was told it was being replaced. It would have been nice to be informed of this beforehand so we could book elsewhere. The only positive is that the host was communicative and offered a small refund which was less than what was promised stating that it's only on nightly "rate", but was promised a percentage from the total accommodation , not what they want to consider a made up rate which is not what was paid. so further lies. Not recommend.”airbnb

“We arrived to a dirty, unsanitary unit with no cleaning supplies. We contacted LocalVR but got no response, so we bought supplies and spent the first night cleaning and vacuuming. At that point, we assumed some issues can happen with Airbnb stays and tried to make the best of it. Bedding was unacceptable: bloody comforter and blood-stained mattress protector on bed. Linens were stained, smelled bad, with animal hair. No spare mattress protector; we slept in sleeping bags 2 nights. Clean linens took 3 days. First “solution” provided by LocalVR was unsanitary ill-fitting sheets. No pets listing, but there was a dirty dog bowl and animal hair on couch and linens. Bathroom and kitchen had grime, odors, and dirty/cluttered cabinets. Most alarming: open hole in bedroom closet floor leading to ~10-ft crawl space, covered only by loose wood. Pool and gym were listed but closed entire stay with no disclosure. Videos available upon request. Not as described, unsanitary, and unsafe.”airbnb

“Our experience at this property was a disaster. We had no hot water for our entire stay, and the management was incredibly misleading. They claimed the issue was fixed by the second afternoon, but when we returned that evening, the water was still cold. By that point, it was too late to find other accommodations. To make matters worse, they were dishonest regarding compensation. They promised a 30% refund for the first night, but only sent $87. This is nowhere near 30% of our $650 nightly total. They later claimed the percentage didn't apply to the $280 cleaning fee, which was never itemized on our receipt. They also refused to refund anything for the second night, despite the fact that we only stayed because they falsely confirmed the water was working. This was the most unprofessional rental experience we have ever had.”airbnb

“DO NOT book here. We had a very poor experience with this unit and an even worse experience with LocalVR. When we arrived, the unit smelled like mold, there was old pasta in the sink, dog poop on the patio, and an incessant beeping sound which couldn't be shutoff. The whole unit was dusty, the shower had hair in it, and everything about it felt unclean. We reached out to the host, LocalVR, requesting a full refund, communicated we wouldn't be staying, and booked another place. Their response has been far less than satisfactory and we are chasing up with AirBnB support for a refund. Don't book here.”airbnb

“The stay was not the best, after an 8 Hr Drive we finally arrived at the location, we were looking forward to our stay due to the location. We arrived at 12:45 am, my toddler got into the master bed, I moved the top sheet and found a bed bug. I immediately notified their call center which is 24 hours, I inspected other rooms and found pillows with blood stains. Not what I was expecting to find after 8 hours of driving, the employees I spoke with were very friendly, tried their best to escalate the issue. We left the property at 7am, management reached out and claim no issue was found, they claimed they switched out the sheets and pillows and called it good. They provided half of the cleaning refund, which we felt was unfair. We have never had any issues with our stays, we didn’t want to write a bad review, seeing the way the situation was handled, we had no choice. Great location but management needs to do better. I have small children, the way it was handled, unprofessional.”airbnb
