“Between a disgusting backyard that took over 24 hours to get taken care of, walking outside to let my dog out and having the pool guy in the yard with absolutely no mention from the company nor the guy let us know he was there to heading out for an excursion for the day to find that a contractor or something had been in the house without any notice while our dog was there and having to deal with her being beyond upset I would give this company 0 stars if it were possible. We and our dog were so uncomfortable being there after we knew someone had been there that instead if enjoying our last morning we just left super early. I was told yesterday I would be hearing from management today and that still haven't heard from them. I was going to wait to do my review until after I had spoken to them. Since that hasn't happened here we are. I will never recommend staying at any property managed by this company. Disappointed and angry all the way around especially considering the cost.”

“This unit has a great location very close to the beach and Harris Teeter. However, the unit is pretty tired and could use a refresh. The shower in the master does not have a light in it and is dark!! The AC blows cold but it’s loud and squeaks all night. My kids liked the games and books in the bunk room. They provide a VERY basic starter kit, an extra trash bag or two would have been great.”

“We had a terrible experience due to the lack of communication and response to an incident that occurred. While in the house, without any notice or even knocking, 2 people dressed like Village Realty maintenance personnel used the entry code and entered the house while we were occupying the residence. Despite seeing the car in the driveway, the man insisted he was told no one was in the house and he was pushing to change the filters. He was found right near my daughter’s room and it was a very alarming and potentially dangerous situation. Village Realty was contacted several times during and after the incident and has not responded. I feel this is genuinely unacceptable.”

“The location of this Airbnb was fantastic, and we really enjoyed being in the Outer Banks! Unfortunately, there were several things about the property that could use improvement. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and squeaked excessively with even the slightest movement, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Additionally, all of the decks were covered in pine needles and debris, making the outdoor areas look messy and poorly maintained. The kitchen was another disappointment. The drawers where utensils and other kitchen items were stored were very disorganized and not particularly clean. We ended up having to wash everything before we felt comfortable using it. Overall, the location was definitely the highlight of our stay, but the cleanliness, upkeep, and comfort of the home could use some serious attention. With a little more care and maintenance, this property could offer a much better experience for future guests.”

“Overall we enjoyed our stay and the house was worth what we paid when it comes to size and space, the cleaners could do better walls had dirty prints all over, toilet seat was dirty, and dirty dishes in the cabinets and some of our bed sheets had stuff on them, the washer had a ton of sand in it that we had to clean out before using. I know it’s near the beach so obviously sand is an issue but the washer should’ve been wiped out. The downstairs bathroom doorknob was barely even attached. And half the remotes had no batteries or the TVs had no remotes at all. The pool was suppose to be accessible until October 9 but wasn’t even fully filled. (We did communicate this and received compensation for this issue) the hot tub had error codes so it wouldn’t heat and jets wouldn’t work half the time so we couldn’t really even use it. Village realty was very responsive when we brought up any concerns. No complaints about communication just house needs better care. We did enjoy the location”

“We were extremely disappointed upon arrival as the state of the house was not clean and appeared to be poorly maintained. I felt so uncomfortable with the lack of cleanliness. I can only assume the listing photos were taken several years ago. The worst of it all was the pet hair covered bedding, including inside the sheets. The sofa was grossly stained. The bathrooms were not clean as they had human hair stuck on the tile and moldy caulking around the tub. The beds were uncomfortable and caved in the middle. There was a foul smell in the carpeted stairwell. The floor vent in kitchen was foul with gunk. I contacted the host and they sent a cleaner over who was only able to change the sheets but did not have duvets/blankets to offer to replace the hair covered ones. The host was extremely unhelpful after I explained the situation and requested to move to another house or shorten our stay. Luckily Airbnb support was fantastic. I sent them the pictures and they immediately helped me.”

“The house needs work. The wood on the decking is nearing end of lifespan, the posts on the front landing weren't secured properly, the kitchen was poorly stocked and as noted a lot of palmetto bugs (dead or dieing). The house wasn't completely ready for us, the cushions on the couches we're not in place. We got a feeling the house was an investment property with limited interest for maintenance and upkeep. The location wasn't great but we were aware of that going in. But the other issues, especially the railings on the front landing, were unexpected.”

“Day 4 of our stay the water company turned off our water off due to lack of payment. Village Realty blamed the non payment on the Nor'Easter..REALLY? Who doesn't pay their bills on a rental property with renters occupying it? Took way too much of our vacation time to solve. We asked for compensation of a day, they refused. All items listed were not present, Trash was over flowing in the trash can outside which we had to take care of, floors were not thoroughly cleaned, found a cockroach in the bathroom, no blankets available, need mattress pads on the beds. Also, no cleaning items available to clean up after cooking. We did not feel comfortable in the place after the water was shut off, did not trust that there might be other issues. Also, neighbors yard very cluttered and dogs noisy Would not rent this place again”

“Not the best had to get our own internet working air conditioning went out inadequate lighting in bedrooms dishwasher was broken and non usable need decent pots and pans to cook in door knob fell off door and had to buy screwdriver to reattach it air filters looked like they had never been replaced no wonder the air conditioner stopped not my best vacation 😞”

“This house was advertised to have a heated pool. We asked about the heated pool before our stay, and how to check the temperature of the pool multiple times during our stay. Village Reality would respond saying they would look into it and never got back to us. On the day of checkout, we inquired again about the heated pool and our dissatisfaction in village reality getting back to us to resolve the issue. They then informed us this house doesn’t have a heated pool and that this amenity was listed accidentally. The frustration of the lack of communication and accountability is not only poor business practice, but is false advertising.”
