“The house was beautiful. There was plenty of room. The kitchen was great. Just the steep dune was visible from the top floor - not the beach. Over the week, spiders were found on the bottom floor and little roaches (6) were found on the top floor. The biggest negative - There was a walkway and stairs to the top of the dune but no steps to the bottom of the dune to the beach. It was very steep and the sand was deep. Totally unsuitable for older people. Luckily, there was public access to the beach 1 property down.”

“Beautiful home, pretty private, wonderful pool area! I would suggest if your planning on staying here and have children bring your on pack and play, also maybe a fire stick or Roku set up, some of the rooms had issues with cable and we couldn’t get any kid friendly shows/ movies on! Very clean other than a few bugs where spotted during our stay contacted them and they had pest control there the next day very fast with responded and ensuring any issues are fixed. Felt very safe in the neighborhood! There is a beautiful sound side pier in the neighborhood that is worth seeing for the sunsets and turtles!”

“Off season rates were still high No paper towels and no extra toilet paper No soaps in kitchen and bath Tv link up to internet was not working but technician came over and fixed it but I wasted an afternoon Need to bring many of your own kitchen implements Not well stocked Very steep rickety back stairs Not adequate lighting on front and back stairs at night Outdoor grill was filthy and greasy Lock to front door stopped working Dryer vent not hooked up Downstairs bathroom lock to door broken Lots on sandburs could not go barefoot Would not rent this house again Should have been more modern and supplied basic kitchen items and toiletries for the rates charged”

“As short-term rental owners with 4.98+ stars, we understand hospitality. This stay was deeply disappointing. We paid $2,500 for Labor Day week. We expected budget quality, but encountered big disappointment. * Cleanliness: Sheets had mildew. Bathrooms were dirty. Floors and carpets were so filthy our kids' feet turned black. Replacement sheets arrived ripped. * Privacy: 5 unannounced maintenance workers entered the house/pool area without warning. One had a camera. Another walked inside during toddler naptime, shouting "maintenance" while entering the kitchen. * Upkeep: Holes in walls, missing window screens, and broken locks. Two dining chairs fell apart when sat in. * Comfort: Beds were uncomfortable. Lower levels were hot - one fan. * Safety: Deck railings were low. The provided baby gate was an outdated, unsafe wooden model. We bought a safe gate for $60; the host ignored our request to reimburse us. * Amenities: Listing claims "Ocean Views", there are none. Skip this host/house”

“Maintenance wasn’t done before we got there. Light fixture in family room needs to be replaced per the technician. Wi-Fi didn’t work and technician said it needed a service call. Fan fixture in queen size bedroom needs to be replaced and is ready to fall on someone. No washer or dryer. No dishwasher. Poor lighting in master bedroom. Not worth at all what we paid for.”

“House was pretty dirty, the heater in the pool didn’t work, or the light but they finally fixed it. They never came to put chlorine tablets in the hot tub, and there were pee stains everywhere”

“Nice area not a great place. House was dirty. Stains on most of the furniture and bugs. I get it’s the beach but I’ve been staying down in OBX for years and never dealt with cockroaches and the amount of flies like we did at this place. This reality group praises cleanliness, but obviously don’t not practice it. Showed up and the fridge had multiple broken drawers in it so obviously was never cleaned. Also, fridge would run at 45-50degrees. Eventually maintenance came and cleaned the coils and it did run better but nowhere near great. The pool was never cleaned from previous guess also. Found beer cans in the filter and covered in sand. Pool sticks were all broken. The grates on grills were clean, but grease traps were so full underneath anytime you would cook the grease would pour out the bottom. Location was nice, easy to get to the beach but wouldn’t recommend this house.”

“The first night we arrived there was a dead cockroach in the hall and the bathroom light fixture over the bathroom sink was hanging off the wall by a wire. The trashcans in the driveway were overflowing with trash. I had to contact the realtor about the light, the molding that fell off the door on the deck, the fact that the trash was never picked up and all the neighbors were, and we never received any towels at all (the website said to just bring your own beach towels). I received the towels but had to call twice about the light fixture as maintenance never showed up. I was told there was a place to launch a kayak, so I rented one. But there is no way to safely get into the water at all so I could not used the kayak. The hot tub did not have a railing or handle to get in and out safely so we could not used that. I spent a good deal of time on my vacation dealing with the realtor when I should not have had to. This property is not a property for families.”

“We arrived on Saturday and AC wasn’t working and it was 83 degrees inside the house. I called the rental people and they brought us 4 window units. The AC people came but couldn’t fix it. The house was dirty and smelly. When we left on the next Saturday there were ants in the kitchen. This rental isn’t worth $2,600 for the week. It put a damper on our vacation.”

“This home is in need of updates/repair. House had a smell, tap water smelled like a swamp/sewage. The mattress had a stain and after they cleaned it we had to call late at night to get sheets. The bathroom was full of hair and dust on the floor and base of tub. Food piece in utensil drawer. Couch covered in pet hair. Lights and covers out, missing, cracked, and full of bugs. Hot tub had lots of stains. Found black substances growing around window and air vent. We were told by the maintenance person that that’s just how the city water smells and it’s not their fault. Even if that’s true, I still don’t want to smell worse after I shower. There is just too much to list. We asked to leave and get a refund but the host told AirBNB that we adamantly declined a reclean after they told us we needed to contact AirBNB to do anything since we booked with them. The reclean wasn’t helpful. I was extremely dissatisfied with the home and price. Hopefully this home will be deep cleaned and updated.”
