Heartwood Furnished Homes's guest rating of 4.79 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“-10 stars. Do not stay here. Place is filthy, smells like urine and cigarettes, has mold, has roaches and ants and bed bugs. Host doesn’t care about the families staying here. Refused to refund the stay even knowing that a COCKROACH ran across my toddlers breakfast plate. Disappointing and poor accountability. On top of that, air b&b support was unhelpful in rectifying the issue.”airbnb

“The property did not match the profile at all. The outdoor amenities were the main reason I booked this particular property. According to the listing, the dock was beautiful with nice chairs, there was a playground area for children, it came with a charcoal grill, picnic table and outdoor seating. Everything needed to make a stay at the lake wonderful and relaxing. What we got was a severely warped deck that was separating from the pier; mildewed outdoor furniture; and a rusted beyond usable charcoal grill. The playground ship and picnic table had been patched up with new boards to make them usable. As soon as I saw the dock, I contacted the owner (also sent photos) about the condition. She said she was not aware that anything was wrong with the dock and “assured” me it was safe for use.”airbnb

“This property fell well short of expectations, especially considering the price of $1.5k for our stay. While the listing appeared promising, our experience was disappointing from arrival through departure. We experienced stained furniture, dirty coffee cups, wilted plants shedding onto counters, missing ceiling fan remotes, trash & broken glass in the yard, and a green, completely unusable pool. The home was also understocked for 6 guests, with only 2 rolls of toilet paper. Communication started strong with excessive automated messages prior to check in, but became slow and ineffective when problems arose. Our concerns about the fans and pool were met with little urgency, compassion, or resolution. The pool remained unusable until checkout, calls to the property management company went unanswered, and multiple unexpected visits to the property were unsettling. We were left completely speechless when the host ultimately requested a 5-star review and a discounted extra day. Unimpressed.”airbnb

“Great home, super cute BUT upon arrival 8 windows were unlocked and some cracked open when I arrived. It made me feel VERY uneasy as I had arrived alone and had to secure the house by myself. Again I found 8 windows unlocked. Also important to note that this company that runs the Airbnb charges for early check in and out. I have never been asked to pay $50 to check in an hour early before… very disappointing as I was already paying to stay there.”airbnb

“I’ll start off that this is a nice place and for us and our visit it was very good location. The bad is the refrigerator did work causing our food to spoil. We communicated when we found out but it was never fixed. This is the reason for the 2 star overall.”airbnb

“We were in town with my husband’s brother, sister and families for my father-in-law’s Celebration of Life. We thought we had found a great place near Lake Murray for the nine of us. Almost immediately once my niece was showering, the downstairs shower started backing up. We noticed water and sewage coming up from the downstairs shower and toilet. There was water pouring out onto the floor. We tried to get in touch with the host and AirBnb. We had no way to turn the water off so we told both it was an emergency. Neither seemed to care at all. They just said we will send someone in the morning. It was pretty disgusting with floating feces in the shower and floor. They came the next day a “fixed” the issue. The cleaner had to use a hazmat suit to clean. The host and Airbnb support did very little to help with compensation and relocation until we posted pictures on social media when the sewage began backing up again. We received a phone call from the support team within minutes to help”airbnb

“The host of this property appears to be completely unfamiliar with the property. Prior to booking I asked if the boat ramp could accommodate my 24’ Jet boat with Wake Tower and was told “It’s wide enough for a pontoon boat. You’ll drive under the carport area first, and that leads directly to the boat ramp, or you can use the ramp adjacent to the carport”. The ability to launch and dock my own boat was the reason for selecting this property. At the lake side of the carport are three 24” deep steps, stepping down to the ramp which make this an unusable lake access route for any boat trailer. The ramp at the water’s edge is completely broken apart in both large and “crumbling (gravel like)” pieces making it unsafe/unusable to launch any boat. The photos shown in the Airbnb listing are misleading as they are old. What looks like small bushes next to the boat ramp adjacent to the house are now 15’ – 20’ Fir trees that protrude into the 10’ wide ramp to only allow 7’ 6” of clearance”airbnb

“I’ve never left a bad review for anyone and I give lots of grace because I am a host myself. I paid almost 5k to stay in this place with my entire family for a week. I asked to pay for a party of 9 vs 8 since the ninth person doesn’t walk (7mo). An exception was made. This place had trash in it when we got it. The pillows had overt and identifiable bodily fluids on them. Finding period blood was the least of the issues here. There were 3 towels for the entire trip. They say they provide “basics”; they don’t. These people took the Airbnb experience and turned it into maximum profit for themselves for the minimum accommodations. You wanna wash your hands? Bring your own soap. You want to stay for a week? Bring paper towels, tp, and extra towels. The host fought me and said that “I just couldn’t find them”. I recorded the whole thing. Spiderwebs everywhere inside - like, they hit you when you come in. Outside? Let’s not begin on that topic..They dont provide comforters for all the “bed…”airbnb

“Very disappointed. When you walk in there is a musty smell and the house is not clean. The couch was stained and filthy. It was not usable as a pull out bed option due to condition. The floors were dirty and had cracked tiles in the kitchen and bathroom. The ceiling paint was peeling. The dangerous issues were there is a large hole in the back deck and the floor boards in one of the bedrooms are unstable. The front railing is also not attached properly. We asked to be moved to another property which was available through this same owner and were told no without a reason. I have stayed with Wendy before and was quite satisfied so this was a very disappointing experience for a graduation weekend”airbnb
