“Beautiful cabin, waaaay off in the woods after a bit of a haul winding down a rough dirt road. It admittedly doesn’t look like much when you first pull up, but don’t judge this book by its cover. Very peaceful and clean, beautiful view and quiet. Everything worked great and it was very comfortable and well kept. We enjoyed the back deck listening to the wind and the birds chirping, a dip in the hot tub, and some s’mores in the fire pit. Just don’t expect personable communication from the owner. We just got canned, copy/paste instructions when we messaged them with questions, but we got the info we needed so it was fine. Would go back.”

“The cabin was quite smaller than it appeared in the pictures. It was also very dark. Located on the shady side of the mountain and surrounded by trees. There was very little sun exposure. The deck was dark and is leaning as if it’s unstable. The back deck was very private, but but again so surrounded by trees and shrubbery, and a neighboring house that it was shady at the time of day when we would enjoy sitting out after a long day hiking. We were led to believe from conversations with the host that there was a wood-burning fire pit outback, there is not. There is only a gas lit fire pit. Thankful we didn’t pay the host for firewood! We were also told by the host that there was only a Mr. coffee type coffee maker, there is not. There’s both a coffee and a Keurig, which would’ve been helpful to know ahead of time. The location is perfect and that you were on the parkway in a matter of minutes and also so close to town.”

“Lovely stay, though the hot tub was not prepared for our arrival and never would heat up fully. Light on in-house amenities but a large and nicely appointed home. Not an easy drive up the mountain, but beautiful and peaceful!”

“Excellent views. The place is very beautiful with wonderful and adequate furnishings. It is in need of some tender loving care.. The dryer filter appears not cleaned for a very long time. Dirty in places like the utensil draw. It appears as though it was not cleaned for a while. The area was peaceful. First time in the mountains, after cleaning, we had a wonderful time.”

“As a previous Airbnb host I have high expectations for stays in this price point that use a professional management company - but I was pretty disappointed. Pros: - location is great, perfectly situated between Boone and Blowing Rock - inside was very clean and nice - perfect room situation for our family, fun bunk bed Cons: - management company was very unresponsive and unhelpful - no way to cover the large windows in 2 bathrooms (one directly in front of a toilet and the other in a shower). I went outside to see if it was a one-way window and I could see my husband standing in the shower waving to me from the chest up. While the road is rural, I saw multiple cars and a kid on a scooter drive by these windows during our stay - screened-in porch had to be cleaned by us before we could use it. It was covered in dust, pollen, and old leaves. Request for a broom was unanswered - no flexibility on early check-in unless you pay a $75 fee. I felt like we were being nickel and dimed”

“The entrance of Blue Ridge Mountain Club itself is very convenient. Its about 15 minutes from everything. However we did not know that we had to add an aditional 20 minutes to get to the home from the gate. Huge inconvenience. I forgot to check if this home allowed pets. It did. I called ahead to let them know to make sure their cleaners clean real good on the pet hair for I have bad allergies. She sounded like she did not want to call the cleaners to let them know. She said she will try to see if she can find them and pass that message on to them, BUT she probably can't. Never heard that before. The club was also more informative and helpful on the key pass then she was. The club cared more about their visitors then Carolina Cabin Rentals. The place had visible pet hair and crumbs and trash in places that could have been easily swept or vacuum. Horrible/ LAZY cleaners. Also the hot tub was green and filthy. Dirty enough, it had to be emptied, clean, and refilled. It took all day.”

“This home needs a really good spring cleaning and overall maintenance. A home in the woods will attract ants the spring but patch repairs and they don’t get in as much. You can tell this home is not visited by the owners. Cabinets are completely bare and you have to buy everything from coffee to shampoo to conditioner to Saran Wrap etc. The fridge filters need changing and condenser fan replaced. You can hear fridge from outside. Ran out of gas in the outdoor fireplace. NO AC. Paint peeling from ceilings, and deck ramp in desperate need of repair.”

“The location is nice and convenient to get to the mountains. The home itself is nice and accommodating. The management of the place however needs some improvements. 1 trash bag left for a 4 night stay with 8 guests. Who knows how old used wet coffee grounds left in the coffee maker filter and would recommend visitors to not rely on the coffee maker here, it only brews water. The rules state to not leave any dishes behind and to put them all in the dishwasher - but a little hard to do when the dishwasher is left jam full upon arrival. Used qtips left on the bathroom floor. Since this is ran by large property management company, just be sure to cover your end and communicate existing items.”

“Our trip was cancelled 10 minutes before check-in at a winter/snow destination. This host tried to have us cancel our stay (later we realized that would reflect badly on our profile). They then requested we use their personal website to try to find another 2 homes that would accommodate us and we would have to pay the difference (despite us finding this rental half a year in advance). They gave us a ticket number and then refused to answer our call/messages. The interesting thing is I got a call the day prior asking if we were coming or if we wanted to cancel. (I have never had this happen prior with Airbnb, so I do think they knew well in advance that they were going to cancel). Very unprofessional. Thank goodness Airbnb support helped us find a place for the night.”

“I had a lot of hopes for this place, it looks beautiful but maintenance issues effectively ruined our time. We were informed that the garage door was working and given instructions to operate it, only to find it was not working. Our car was trapped in it from the evening to afternoon the next day. The sliding door in the upstairs bathroom is off track and does not close The front door gets stuck and requires opening from the inside The master bath jets do not function The downstairs bathroom did not have working hot water The water was off one night midway through the trip. We were called by the owner of the house at midnight, demanding where a large amount of water was being used. No water was being used, and the owner informed us it would be turning off again shortly. A pipe had burst, and we did not have running water until afternoon. The house is beautiful, but these issues and others made the trip a nightmare and embarrassed me to bring my family here. I wanted to love it here.”
