“Perfect view, beautiful sunrise! Like everyone else's comments the house smells musty. It could be because the house is very old and it's right on water. We spent most of our time in the sunroom and outside so we didn't mind.”

“The location was very walkable and nearby beach. However, quite a bit of road noise, upstairs tenant noise, and the restaurant next door had loud music to about 10pm. The house was ok and provided what we needed, but it was more dusty than we would’ve preferred.”

“Upon arrival we noticed a bug infestation in the garage. That wasn't too bad since the house is in the woods, but it gets much worse. On the first morning of our stay, I went to the kitchen to make coffee and noticed a mouse run across the counter. Then I watched several of them run around the kitchen floor, down the hallway and basement stairs. There were also mouse droppings on the kitchen counter and in the drawers. I reported the problem, then we left and went sightseeing for the day. When we returned someone had dropped off a couple of mouse traps. There was no note, no instructions, no apology...nothing. We spent the rest of the week catching mice. We wanted to use the hot tub, but the water had a foul odor and was green and slimy. We tried running the filter but that didn't help. The toilet in the basement wouldn't work properly. I reported both of those problems but no response. Exterior shrubs are so overgrown you cannot walk up the front porch steps. We won't be back.”

“Unfortunately extremely dirty and mouldy. Dust all over the place. We had to leave early cause it was unbearable.”

“Last minute get away up north. Was hoping for a few days of swimming in the lake and playing in the sand. Was disappointed that the beach was all broken shells and not anything the kids could play on. There were huge rocks in the water as well, so kids didn’t feel safe swimming. House was very musty smelling, many outlets didn’t work. Was a lovely view tho, sunset and sunrises were welcomed and lovely.”

“The lake itself and view from the house is magnificent. The canoe and paddleboard were the highlight of the trip and epitome of a summer Michigan house. However, the house and yard upkeeping needs to be improved.”

“Our family overall had a good stay, the location is wonderful. Close to activities but secluded. Our kids loved seeing the river and playing outside. While we enjoyed our stay, there are a few areas that could use attention. The hammock area was too overgrown to use and the fire pit by the river needed clearing from the above tree. The blankets had pet hair, there were dirty dishes with food residue and we found old chip bags in the couch. Most challenging was that the stove & nearby outlets stopped working on our last night. Because we have kids, we had to pivot quickly to get them fed and to bed, meaning we unfortunately had quite a few groceries we could not use. Following the after-hours guidelines, it didn't seem to qualify as an immediate emergency, so I left a voicemail when I could. The next day, the response was just that we should have called sooner, which felt dismissive. It is a beautiful property with so much potential, it just needs a little TLC and better communication.”

“Positives, the neighborhood and lake are nice and it is close to TC. Negatives, the house itself is basic. It needs updating and refreshing and a deep clean. When we arrived, there were two dead birds on the deck, a sock on the floor, and a half drunk Dr. Pepper on the counter. The furniture is weathered and tattered indoors and out. The bbq grease tray was spilling over. The upstairs toilet only flushed urine but could not be used for pooping. The mattresses were flimsy and the beds creaked loudly. But most importantly, and I know they say it in the description, but if an Airbnb is going to charge that amount for a weekly stay, a few inexpensive touches would have made a big difference…dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, shampoo and soap, beach towels, a hair blower, none of these things are provided. There are no water toys and very few games in the house. To sum up, location is good, house is not. It was rickety and dirty and not worth the money at all.”

“Being in proximity to the TART trail, downtown area, water, pier, restaurants was a great attribute! Occasionally the Cantina next door could get a little loud. The property description listed “parking: room for 2 cars (including roadside parking)”. We rented the Green Shutter Cottage only which does not include parking on the property (we had one car). When I asked for clarity via texting the host, I received an answer 12 hours later from Lindsay saying “did you figure it out? I hope so.” Otherwise we found the rental cozy, clean, and very enjoyable.”

“The physical description of the property is accurate. However, there were swarms of unmanaged mosquitoes outside that made the outdoor space completely unusable. You couldn't walk from the car to the home without being swarmed. I have stayed all throughout Traverse City, including on the water, and the mosquitoes at this location are easily the worst ever. They are out of control. Screens on the doors and windows were also broken so we couldn't crack a window at any point to hear the water or get a breeze without mosquitoes coming inside. The place was dirty. Dishes were dirty and needed to be rewashed, cobwebs were in the bedroom, a window was left open in the basement so bugs got in. For some reason there is still an envelope to tip the house cleaners. Multiple window treatments were broken as well. The rods to open the blinds didn't exist so we had to use our fingers to turn the little metal piece on almost all the windows in the master bedroom. The toaster was also broken.”
