Vacation Rentals by Kimberly

Vacation Rentals by Kimberly's guest rating of 4.80 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“Beautiful neighborhood. House was not properly cleaned upon our arrival, old food left in pots and pans in the kitchen, massive puddle on the bathroom floor and a terrible odor inside the house.”airbnb

“We returned one night to discover we were locked out. The host provided a code and once we entered we heard very explicit noises coming from upstairs. It sounded like two people were in the unit and we didn’t feel safe being there. We exited the unit and messaged the host. She said to stay in our car for safety. She said she would send someone to inspect the unit. After about three hours of waiting, she went radio silent and we had to find a hotel at 2:30am. The next day she said it was our “choice” to stay in our car and it was her virtual assistant we had been speaking with. She said she went to sleep. We were escorted back into the unit where we gathered our things. The door was unlocked for some reason at that time. We didn’t stay for our last two nights. The host initially only offered 1/2 of a night refund. After several conversations I was eventually able to get Airbnb to agree to a 2 night refund. It was the least they could do considering we didn’t stay there for two nights.”airbnb

“Amazing location steps to the beach stayed with family and friends the only concerns we had was wifi did not work for our phones or tv for the first 2 days, showers don’t drain very well, email to check in was not updated, home needs some repair as well, overall we enjoyed our stay w seven people, would come back just needs to be updated”airbnb

“Cute little trailer in a great neighborhood. Nothing fancy but the bed is comfortable. Know that this is just a trailer parked right next to a bunch of other trailers in a gravel yard. Don’t expect any views or cozy outdoor vibes. Also, the coffee maker didn’t work and the host was somewhat dismissive about it. I stayed for one night and in the morning when I went to make coffee for the first time around 8am I notified her of the issue. She responded promptly but simply said that there was nothing she could do and I was leaving soon anyway, so she’d just address is for the next guest. Kind of annoying given that I still had 2 hours at the place. Seems like she could have been more helpful?”airbnb

“Second time staying here and maybe fourth or fifth with this host. This is our favorite property. It does not feel like an Airbnb. It is amazingly stocked with anything you might need. It does not feel like a sterile sparsely furnished Airbnb from Wayfair. Lots of amazing books, toys, supplies. Absolutely amazing. Only complaint is the mattresses are are really terrible. They were bas when we stayed there 3 years ago, too. An easy upgrade to turn this into a 5 star property. Also, would love it if they can use unscented detergent. I got chlorofrmed everynight by whatever chemical-laden detergent they use. Left a bottle of unscented detergent. Hope they use it!”airbnb

“This host is a terrible person who does not care about her customers. I reserved for 3 days and there was no AC or heat when I got there. To make things right I asked for 20% of one nights stay back and she REFUSED! $30 is what she’d owe. DO NOT TRUST HER OR RENT FROM HER. I’d have some other words but she’s to chicken poop to pick up the phone.”airbnb

“Quiet residential area. Convenient driveway parking. Beds were made and felt clean. Lots of living room and kitchen and dining space as well as in the master bedroom and bath. Washing machine had towels sitting in dirty water and the machine would not run no matter how many times we tried. The house manager went silent after they said they’d work on sending someone to fix it, it sucked not having a washer when you’re traveling with a toddler. And when I tried handwashing and using the dryer the dryer had a horrible loud bang when we turned it on so we couldn’t use that either. Master tub had a pool of water floating in it when we arrived and the bathroom sinks were smudgy. Back yard was not kept up with filthy lawn chairs and a bucket of green-grime water sitting right by the slider door. House had a toaster with a melted cord and host did replace the toaster the same day Check-out instructions were not found in the home or in the app chat.”airbnb

“It was an incredibly frustrating stay because when I asked simple questions like “where is the Wi-Fi”or “ Where is the washer/dryer” the bot/host would reply with very general response. Every once in a while, a real human being would reply, but they acknowledged they did not know about the layout of the house. Really poor communication and very frustrating. Airbnb should not allow bots as hosts”airbnb

“Wish I listened to previous reviews. Will NEVER book through a 3rd party mgmt company on Airbnb again. One of the worst experiences. Not worth the headache at all. Different representatives on the messages who don’t read previous messages. Automated messages without responses to any questions. Came for work. I was in a jam so I booked this quickly for my guests who also came down to work in San Diego. At the same time, I had another airbnb reservation in Encinitas where I stayed. That place was perfection, same price, and wonderful hospitality from the owner. I called Airbnb customer service and had to speak to numerous people in order to get a response from the host (host in the management company who then deals with OTHER mgmt companies per their responses). Writing this so that others may be aware of the headache and pointless stress in dealing with VBK. Stay elsewhere if possible. Hope this helps.”airbnb

“This home is in a great location across the street from the beach. The house itself is well built, and has a nice back patio, parking and an extra unit. Unfortunately the house was not prepared for guests, and it appears we were the first guests the house saw. The kitchen pots and pans were old and not put away well, with random parts in different areas. The dishwasher didnt work and had mold inside. There were ants in the kitchen anytime we made something to eat. We found ants in the bathrooms and bedrooms. We communicated the issues the first morning but they didnt send anyone until the day after that and all they did was confirm that the dishwasher didnt work. In the evening they sent us ant traps for us to place out, which I thought was in poor taste, we paid more than 500 a night and i didnt expect to put out ant traps and wash dishes by hand on vacation. The owner never responded to my request for a partial refund so i had to go through airbnb support. I wouldnt stay here again.”airbnb
