Manager Review

Haven Vacation Rentals

Haven Vacation Rentals's guest rating of 4.79 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

Nice sized 2 bedroom. Clean for sure. Check in and out easy. Beds were comfortable and showers were good. Area is a HOA governed set of homes. Out of owners control but HOA people made a few appearances during the stay that made me feel uncomfortable, like they were watching us. TV’s didn’t work throughout visit. Old and clunky tech on the TV’s. Refrigerator worked but was the loudest compressor I’ve ever heard. Annoying being in the kitchen / living room loud. Some areas needing repainted and kept up to make this a 5 star. Worth the price still, just not a true 5 star in my book. Also didn’t love the AI feel of responses during booking and before check in. Felt like I was working for a corporation. Felt more threatened by all the rules and restrictions rather than welcome.

2nd time staying here. We had issues with the unclean hot tub last year but was taken care of by the host promptly. The pool tech had to clean the filter and all the chemicals were off. It smelled like a swamp. This year before we went I requested the hot tub be clean due to the issues last year. They acted like they cared and agreed. The hot tub was NOT clean and had debris in it and an off smell( not as bad as last time). My 9 year wound up getting a stomach bug the 3rd day, and seems the cleaning company lacks on disinfecting. The hot tub also had a dirt film across where the waterline is so it seems the host just brushed off our request. There was pinkish mold around the boarder of the bottom of the main walk in shower showing it hasn't been thoroughly cleaned. There was a large nasty stain in the upstairs couch and a blood stain on the couch downstairs. Both requiring towels being put down so our kid could use them. The rental is definitely not in the condition as last year

started off the week with no refrigerator for the first 3 days in 90° weather. our food we bought went bad. kept telling us they would fix it and didn’t until halfway through the week. didn’t give us any money back for our food or any money for the inconvenience.

Ceiling fans and lighting in one room not working, when I let them know of the problem, they asked me to go to basement, which was really weird and scary to find breaker box, noting wrong there, I guess they have remotes for each room to function fan and lighting. None was marked to which room, guess batteries were bad… then ice maker did not make ice, when I inquired about that I was asked to make sure water line was attached to refrigerator., which entailed pulling refrigerator out, never had anyone to show up to fix theses problems….

The view is unbeatable, the porch serene. The lake is close by and we had so much fun playing in it. We were disappointed in the amenities for the price. The furniture is a bit old and saggy. The kitchen was not stocked with things I would expect: salt and pepper, a cookie sheet, and other things that would be unreasonable for a guest to provide for themselves for a short stay. The power went out during our stay as well as a whole house fan that came on and was super loud and the communication with the management company I believe was with an AI bot which proved to be most unhelpful. We ended up figuring out a lot of things on our own or making do. For the price we paid that was not great nor what we hoped for.

The home itself was beautiful & clean. However, there were several issues. These are just a few since I’m limited. We could not locate the advertised fire extinguisher. The kitchen had only 1 towel & no cleaning supplies. A small trial-size dish soap & Two paper towel rolls were provided, but basic items like all-purpose cleaner, wipes, & extra kitchen towels would have been helpful. The biggest issue was losing hot water for 3 days. The host was initially responsive & sent maintenance, but after promising further updates, with still no hot water, no follow-up was ever provided. This significantly impacted our group of 10, affecting showers after long days on the lake, dishwashing, & laundry. We ultimately had to involve Airbnb support. We understood lake levels could affect dock/slide use, we were there at 5ft below summer pool, & barely was able to use the edge of the dock, but the area had lots of rotten boards & the access road was severely washed out & not drivable.

During our five-day stay, several significant maintenance and service issues were not adequately addressed. The hot tub was nonfunctional for the duration of our visit, and despite notifying the host, no effective repairs were made and the damaged cover was not replaced to retain heat. Additionally, the internet router repeatedly shorted out and was neither repaired nor replaced, resulting in unreliable connectivity throughout our stay. Communication regarding both issues was minimal, with little to no updates provided over multiple days. There were also additional maintenance concerns within the cabin, including flickering bathroom lights, a leaking shower, and overall upkeep issues that did not align with the price paid for the property. Given the number of unresolved problems and the impact they had on our experience, we do not feel the accommodation reflected the value advertised.

The house was beautiful, BUT Several amenities were broken/inaccessible: - Hot tub didn’t work despite being in the description - Fire place was rusted through - Dock wasn’t let out on the lake Communication was also very frustrating. It seemed like the property was managed by a third-party who didn’t know anything about the property. The responses were quick but would often shift the immediate issues to their “team for review” without ever resolving the issues. We had to contact air bnb support for an amenity refund, following the owner’s lack of follow-through. Also - there were dead hornets around the house on arrival. Nice house, but VERY frustrating experience that took away from our enjoyment of our vacation. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Smelly, scary driveway, no view, surrounded by woods. Cigarette burns on pillows and couch.

The house is beautiful, but that’s where the positives end. The spiral stairs felt unsafe, the bathtub wasn’t clean, and only one of three showers worked, very difficult for a family of eight. Despite a no-smoking policy, there were cigarette butts everywhere and broken glass near the entrance. The alarm system beeped nonstop after night two, and the front door wouldn’t stay locked, which scared my kids. The driveway is dangerous and not suitable for larger vehicles, which wasn’t disclosed. Daily construction blocked access most mornings, causing us to miss non-refundable reservations and lose thousands. The “walkable” lake and waterslide are completely misleading. The lake was dry, the trail is steep and unsafe, and the fridge photos misrepresent it. We were told to drive, but the road is badly washed out only an ATV could manage it. Hosts responded but never resolved anything. Location was also misrepresented everything is far away. I would never stay here again.
