Hatteras Realty by Casago's guest rating of 4.60 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“Our stay was extremely disappointing, we would NOT recommend booking with this company. The biggest issue was they failed to disclose that major construction would be taking place directly in front of the beachfront home during our stay and will continue to happen. When we reached out regarding the construction and other issues, it took 5 days to respond. Despite the significant disruption to our vacation, they refused to offer any compensation. It was even more frustrating learning that neighboring properties received compensation for the inconvenience. The company claimed they did not know when the construction would occur, yet admitted they had been aware of the project since the spring. At no point was any construction warning disclosed. We found cockroaches on both floors & broken porch post. This was concerning because we were traveling with children and cleanliness is not their priority! By far the most disappointing rental company experiences we've had in NC. Don’t book them!”airbnb

“We booked six months out and were told three hours before arrival that the unit was unavailable. We got switched to another unit comparable to our initial reservation but had ongoing reservation issues that never got resolved, and were unable to extend our stay for one more night. Neither Airbnb nor Hatteras Realty got it fixed. The location, right on the ocean, was amazing. To wake up and walk over the dunes right to the beach was so wonderful.”airbnb

“Fair warning to anyone booking, the photos used on Airbnb are the same photos from when it was sold in 2020. This listing should have come with a disclaimer that the property and surrounding was severely affected by the 2025 hurricane. The surrounding property is covered in debris, there is large wood pieces with nails, glass covering the beach, rebar sticking up out of the sand. One of our guests sliced her foot open on sand covered rebar just feet from the house. The upstairs balcony also has loose bars that are unsafe for small children. Upon arrival our door code didn’t work, that was fixed after a phone call. However we found >5 roaches, and when bringing this up to them I was told it’s a normal occurrence. However, I travel 2x per year to Florida and have never once experienced roaches in this manner. Our garbage was also full at arrival and never taken throughout the week. There is no home manual, that explains anything. My family and I will not be returning. Unsafe for kids.”airbnb

“The house was very cute. I loved the decorations and the books. The dishes were great and reminded me of my grandmother. The beach was very private and we were practically alone. Pristine and beautiful. We went out at night with flashlights and saw lots of ghost crabs, which was a treat for the kids. The bunk bed wasn't fully made up so I had to put sheets on it. The master bedroom bed was horrifically uncomfortable. The bed frame probably needs to be replaced. On the third night I finally went out to the couch and slept better there, even though my butt was sinking in, that's how bad the bed was. I felt exhausted. We never received the door code so we had to call to get it. The emails from the company were very corporate, which is quite a turn off. The washing machine was broken, and they did fix it, but no one told us it was fixed until the evening of the next day. So effectively we missed out on a main amenity. Poor communication. Intense checkout tasks. Would not go again.”airbnb

“The house was convenient to some great restaurants and things to do. The neighborhood was quiet and a safe place to walk our dog. Fishing from the dock and catching crabs in the crab trap was enjoyable. We let everything go of course. The house was clean for the most part except for when we arrived I noticed a smell coming from underneath the house. Turns out both trash bins were full and the previous renters had bagged up all of their dogs poop and left the bags in a pile BESIDE the trash cans. I contacted the host to ask if someone could come get the trash but no one responded. The next day we came home to a box truck in our driveway and someone saying they were there to drop off linens but then said they didn’t have any linens. It was weird but the trash and the poop bags had been taken care of. I’d stay here again, just maybe have a better system for the trash.”airbnb

“Disappointed for the price I paid. The TV in bedroom would not work. I called realty and maintenance came by and said wrong remote. No one ever came back. When I book a cottage (esp for the price I pay), I expect the amenities to work. The outlet in one of the bedrooms did not work. Actually, looks like a fire hazard. Also, there is no driveway it is just grass which floods horribly when it rained. The shower was awful. The shower head is not centered and cannot move so you are up against the wall to rinse off. The worst part is the house next door. It looks inhabitable. Trash is everywhere. A raccoon and a snake came onto this property from that property. A warning would have been nice of the condition of that house.”airbnb

“The house was perfect. The lay out, etc... view of the ocean, listening to waves. However we had a number of issues that we left feedback to the realtor on. Please make sure you check on the pool status. I felt like we paid a premium for a house with an unusable pool. However, if you surf, this is the perfect location, on the S-turn in Rodanthe.”airbnb

“When we arrived our door access code did not work. We had to call to have it reset. The hot tub was uncovered and empty when we arrived. The house was not cleaned prior to our arrival. We found mouse droppings in multiple drawers in the upstairs bedroom. The exterminator came He also found droppings. Our linens were NOT clean there was sand in a few beds. Friday the linen company came to drop linens off for the Saturday turn over. He was looking for the tote from the linen drop before we checked in well there wasnt one because clean linens were not dropped off. There is, what looks to be black mold in the vents. The worst is the bedroom on the top floor. The curtains in that bedroom also have mold on them. The bathroom in the front of the house has burnt out light bulbs and the toilet seat is not attached. The oven door is broken the door on the lazy Susan is broken. The sliding screen doors on the top deck were so rusted they would not move. This stay in the Avon not good!”airbnb

“I've never had such a bad experience with Airbnb. This home is hosted by a big real estate company with multiple offices in various locations. It totally takes the Airbnb experience out of the experience. The "host" uses Airbnb as a marketing tool. Thus there is no personal touch to the stay. No way to contact "host" before/after 9-5. I had to call the emergency number, which they say is only for flood/fires. It reeks of mold. The heat in bedroom did not work. They sent someone to fix it but it broke again an hour later. I froze that first night and ended up leaving the next day and requested a refund. No heaters in 2nd bedroom, bath, or kitchen. The furniture/decor is totally different from the pics. Dead bugs on floor and on furniture. Bathroom door had cardboard duct taped to it to hide damage. Wifi network was not given and no one knew it, so had to figure it out on my own. Most uncomfortable "bed" ever. It's a cot with an old indented cheap mattress w/ institutional sheets.”airbnb
