Distinctive Beach Rentals

Distinctive Beach Rentals's guest rating of 4.64 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

I expected more from what I paid. Broken beach chair filled with sand, comforter was stained, mold along master shower, minimal towels No suggestions about area, ie restaurants, shopping, tourist sites No check out instructions other than time to leave Would recommend a welcome basket with water, snacks, garbage bags, place to take garbage Just disappointing 1 major positive was the view!! The ocean & weather were amazing

Needs to be updated and better general maintenance done on a regular basis that the cleaners should be letting them know and doing deep cleaning more often

Clean home, super comfortable beds, pool was a major win and great location. Legit bare minimum on cleaning/starting supplies and AC was not allowed to go under 72. Which is still fairly warm at night. We loved the master bath but feel we could have used more towels. The couches could use a serious upgrade so relaxing in the evening would be more enjoyable.

YOU HAVE TO BE 25. Our last air bnb canceled us due to issues in the air bnb so we had to book a new one extremely last minute. I didnt see that it was 25 and up. Whoever runs the page refused to give a refund or let us stay or help at all. I understand it was my mistake but they didnt care at all and we were gonna have to cancel our entire vacation we had planned for months. Luckily my husband called the actual rental company and because im close to 25 the very nice lady helped us out and got it approved for us to stay and was extremely helpful! The place was clean as far as bedding and actual things being clean but there was mold on some things like the cabinets, some of the ceilings, etc. Bedding, towels, floors, fridge, dressers, and bathrooms were clean! The view and beach access is amazing! Pool was lovely and clean! Easy to get to and within walking distance to food and shopping!

Overall, we had a good one-week stay and the condo was generally as advertised. My biggest concern was the internet and TV setup. My wife worked remotely during our stay, and the Wi-Fi was slow, unreliable, and not secure enough for her work. I also couldn't log into Netflix or any other streaming services on the TVs. Whether intentional or a setup issue, it was disappointing after long days at the beach. The floors also had a constant gritty, sandy feel. I understand it's near the beach, but better cleaning between guests would help. The front door also had a gap underneath that could let insects or geckos inside and reduced the A/C efficiency. Finally, communication was slow. When someone parked in our reserved space and when I reported other concerns, responses took over 24 hours and offered no real solutions. I'd stay here again, but next time I'd likely choose a more hands-on host.

AVOID THIS PROPERTY. This property is a DISASTER. The house was clearly not cleaned or inspected before we arrived. We found animal feces (poop) inside the house, and after we were told the problem had been taken care of, we found more animal feces, which meant the issue was never really resolved. We also dealt with a clogged shower, clogged kitchen sink, broken lights, a dirty and damaged couch, mold on baseboards, infested with insects, dirty and stained couch, moisture on the walls, and a laundry room full of rust, spiders, cobwebs, and more animal feces. The management company took days to take action, made promises they didn't keep, and showed no urgency despite the sanitation concerns. We spent our vacation dealing with maintenance issues instead of relaxing. In the end, we left early because we no longer felt comfortable having our family stay there.

The WiFi was very poor. The service was dropping out consistently and the range that you could stay connected was very short. The amount of hot water for showers was limited and only had one towel per person. There were labels on the A/C and the some appliances in my view was to save energy regardless of comfort level. The lesson here is rent from an individual and not a company.

The location itself was great, however the condo could use some love. We were unable to use one of the bathrooms as the shower door didn’t seal correctly so it would allow water to go onto the floor which if we were to use it for an actual shower length of time, it would easily flood the floor. In the other bathroom we found used towels draped over the tub. The balcony door did not have a lock which could be a safety hazard if you are staying with small children. When you actually wanted to enter the balcony the door was always jammed and took a minute to get open. The only other disappointing part of the stay was that there is not enough parking for the amount of people staying at the condos. My family with parking passes ran out of spots to park and we were left trying to find another area to safely leave our cars overnight. For spending over $500 on a place to stay this weekend we expected better.

Pros: BEAUTIFUL VIEWS! Floor to ceiling windows. Very nice and roomy condo. Nicely decorated, simple yet nice. Great location. Kitchen BIG and updated. Nice pool area with lots of chairs and tables. Cons: The apartment was not as clean as what they expect when you leave. The kitchen was clean at a glance but when opening cabinets, they were dirty. The roll down shades in living room had dirt marks/black handprints. The white frame around living room window had some type of nasty stuff on it. The first bathroom floor in corners were dark from build-up of dirt. Toilet was grungy looking around the seat. I cleaned it but was just old (outdated) and wouldn’t come clean. We only went for a weekend. Saturday arrival and Monday check-out. Very pricey for basically laying your head down for 2 nights with check-in not being until 4 pm and check-out at 10 am. Only gave us 1 full beach day. We called to Check-in earlier if pay a fee but this unit, early is not offered.

Nice place, but very dusty, not cleaned well. I attribute to the management company. We sent requests and got autoresponders. Several in our group had allergies that made it difficult to sleep because of the dust. We reached out asking for cleaning and got the "I'll get back to you" response, with no one getting back. On 3rd day noticed lots of bites and wondered about bed bugs. We reached out to Distinctive Rentals and had a nice woman offer to give us a partial refund, which we agreed would compensate for the hassles, but still have not received the refund (over a week later) and the last message when we followed up 5 days ago was "I do not have an update at this time. As soon as I do, I will reach out...". crickets. It is also a little weird that they require you to sign an agreement outside of Airbnb or they will cancel your reservation.
