Carolina Coast Retreats By Casago's guest rating of 4.44 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“The location is amazing and was the highlight of our stay. Unfortunately, the property had several significant maintenance issues that were not adequately disclosed. Most concerning was the kitchen flooring, which was missing down to the subfloor with temporary covering taped over portions. The flooring was uneven and a safety concern, particularly with children and older family members. We were not informed until we were already traveling to the property on check-in day. Other concerns included an active bathroom ceiling leak, what appeared to be mold/mildew around the ceiling vents, a non-working light described as “decorative,” and other incomplete repairs. We also encountered a roach, which the host referred to as “pest activity.” The location is fantastic, but the property needs substantial maintenance, and significant conditions should be disclosed before arrival.”airbnb

“There were several issues from the onset: broken glass left behind the couch, dirty sheets left on the pullout mattress, no trash bag liners or even one in the can, the central AC was broken (they didn’t tell us this in advance) and instead had two portable units in the space, one of which had leaked all over the living room floor and soaked the small rug in front of the porch door because the drainage hose wasn’t hooked up properly. The whole condo was humid and the floors, couch and cushions, and bedsheets were all damp as a result. On our first night, one of the smoke detectors malfunctioned and held a continuous beep for hours through the night (we couldn’t take the batteries out and didn’t want to break it for fear of being charged). They recommended we put it in our car overnight since they couldn’t get a maintenance person out. The upstairs neighbors literally ran like a herd of elephants all night long. It’s clear we paid for proximity. The shower was nice, however.”airbnb

“This house is not as expected. Upon check in, we found that the floors were covered in dirty and hair from the previous guest. We had to have family bring a vacuum and mop so we could clean it. The kitchen sink, bathroom sink, and tub did not drain. You will be standing in 3-4 inches of water by the time your shower is done which implies that they did not clean the shower or else the housekeeper would have noticed the issue. The final night of our stay, the toilet stopped flushing and would not drain. This left us with no option to shower or use the restroom on our final night and the morning of check out. The linens and towels provided are terrible so you should plan on bringing your own. The place is generally dingy and not well kept. The couches are uncomfortable and some have burn marks on them despite it being non-smoking. I would not recommend this property”airbnb

“Our stay at 310 Sea Star Circle was disappointing, considering the price we paid. I'll start with the positives: the location was excellent, the layout of the home worked perfectly for our group, and the bed configuration was exactly what we were looking for. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. The property was not properly cleaned before our arrival. We spent our first evening washing sheets because they contained sand and hair, sweeping the floors, cleaning cabinets, and scrubbing the shower in the downstairs master bath due to mildew and visible dirt. We also had to purchase cleaning supplies—including gloves, brushes, sponges, and cleaner—just to make the unit livable. While the rental company did offer to reimburse us for those supplies, there was little sense of urgency or genuine concern that our first night of vacation was spent cleaning not enjoying our stay. Beyond the cleanliness issues, the property showed significant signs of wear throughout.”airbnb

“Unfortunately our experience did not match the listing or our expectations. While the home itself is beautiful, the property was not presented in a clean or comfortable condition. The floors were dirty upon arrival, and bags of soiled linens from previous guests were left just inside the entrance, things we were willing to overlook on a busy holiday weekend. The biggest issue was that the upstairs air conditioning was not cooling properly and wouldn’t cool below 79 degrees. We contacted the property manager, but the problem was never resolved during our stay. Because we were traveling with an infant who was unable to sleep comfortably in the heat, we made the difficult decision to check out a night early. We also requested a partial refund for the unused night but have not received a resolution response from Carolina Coast Retreats by Casago. The home has great potential, but needs better cleaning, maintenance, and more responsive guest support before we could recommend staying here.”airbnb

“Once we checked in, we smelt a horrible sewage smell downstairs. I called the after hours line 3 times between 8:50pm and 11:50 PM. Each time I was told maintenance would be on the way. It wasn’t until after midnight someone called and said they didn’t have anyone available to fix it that night, so we just had to deal with it. The next morning maintenance showed up about 11am and said it was the garbage disposal. Inside of the home was nice outside of the horrible smell. The outside is in horrible conditions. Upon arrival all 3 trash bins were full, none of the outside outlets worked for charging golf carts, the outside shower didn’t work, there was no outside furniture on the patio other than a table and one rusty metal chair and there was no grill available for use. Weeds had grown up high on the patio walls and floors so we couldn’t even let my grandbaby play outside. I would not recommend this home.”airbnb

“I was extremely disappointed with this rental, especially considering the price. We paid more than $2,000 for approximately 42 hours at the South Shore Drive property and expected amenities and accommodations that are standard for a premium beachfront rental. Unfortunately, the property fell well short of those expectations. There were no beach chairs or beach towels provided, the furnishings and appliances were noticeably outdated, portions of the property showed signs of black mold, and the couches appeared dirty and worn. Although our reservation was for five guests (three adults and two children), only six bath towels were provided. We were also unable to access the 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, leaving only the slower 2.4 GHz connection available. In addition, no laundry detergent or dryer sheets were supplied, despite the property having laundry facilities. The one standout feature of this rental is its beachfront location. Beyond that, I found it difficult to justify the premium price.”airbnb

“This was our third stay on Topsail Island, and while the beachfront location was great, this home was disappointing. The driveway was filled with sand, making it impossible to keep sand out of the house and cars. At check-in, the home wasn’t ready, and cleaning appeared incomplete—food smears on appliances, sauce on walls, dirty floors, and unclean furniture. We also dealt with a significant ant problem and received slow, ineffective communication from management, ultimately handling it ourselves. Access to the beach is only through a bedroom, which is inconvenient for guests staying there. Several outlets didn’t work, and we found personal items left in drawers, suggesting poor cleaning. While we still enjoyed our trip, we would not rent this home again.”airbnb

“they not set up bedroomsheets for each bedroom they told me about compensation and never contacted me for, bed mattress are bad for sleep”airbnb

“Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We had to cancel our reservation due to a serious medical emergency involving our two-year-old son, who was hospitalized and was medically unable to travel. We provided documentation from the hospital and communicated with both Airbnb and the host as soon as possible. While we understand that cancellation policies exist, we were disappointed by the lack of compassion and flexibility shown during such a difficult time for our family. It also took six days to receive a final response regarding our request, leaving our family in limbo while we were focused on our son's hospitalization and recovery. Potential guests should be aware that, even in the event of a documented medical emergency, accommodations or exceptions may not be offered. We hope future hosts will consider balancing policy with empathy when families are facing unexpected crises.”airbnb
