Blue Maple's guest rating of 4.73 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“The trees need trimmed down some to be able to really enjoy the view that the cabin can give you. The area is really nice but the outside grounds could be attended to some. The hot tub needs some work done to it. The cabin is old and could use some updates but that didn’t really bother us. 4:00 check in seems a little late and having to pay $80 extra dollars for 2 extra hours on top of what you already paid was a little much. Overall it wasn’t really what we expected but we still enjoyed our stay. If you are looking for a rustic cabin this is it. Still giving it a 4/5 because we did enjoy our stay!”airbnb

“This cabin is nice and rustic. It’s at a good location close enough to town, but far enough away to be private and quiet. The property is in need of some basic maintenance around the house, the deck has nails popping out, and the “view” is missing because of tree overgrowth. The owner should maintain driveway/pathways around the house as there are a fair amount of rocks that are trip hazards. There is hard water in these parts as expected but the bathroom could use some deep cleaning/updating.”airbnb

“Booking the cabin, the photos made the place look wonderful and so clean! Getting to the cabin was a NIGHTMARE. I made sure to look over the manual before my trip, and avoided the roads they told us to avoid. My Apple Maps took us through Fish Hatchery Rd and led us up this private driveway.. that we didn’t even notice the sign at first because we thought “we booked a cabin, in the woods, in west virginia?” AT THAT POINT, i’m trying to get ahold of the host and am being dismissed. They could “only text” me. I sent screenshots and photos of the location I was at, I just wanted confirmation that we were at the right location or not! “Sorry we’re dealing with other guests,” and it was soooo AI generated messages. They send directions.. through text… am I supposed to read that while driving? Then their one road was WRONG and I couldn’t find it on my maps. After driving around for over an hour… we finally found the place. A manager didn’t reach out till next day.”airbnb

“Disappointing Stay Due to Misrepresentation and Lack of Accountability The home was clean when we arrived, but the overall experience fell short of the listing. The property advertised central air, which was a key reason I booked, but we arrived to find only older window AC units. The host later acknowledged the central air was broken and told us to use the window units, but no meaningful solution was offered. There were also several maintenance and comfort issues. Trash was scattered in the driveway when we arrived, old garbage remained in the yard, the living room couch was uncomfortable and appeared to be supported with plywood, and the bedroom AC unit was extremely loud and disrupted sleep. When concerns were raised, the responses felt scripted and did not reflect accountability. While I appreciated that the home was clean, the inaccurate listing, lack of follow-through, and multiple maintenance issues made the stay frustrating. I would not book this property again.”airbnb

“The place looked like the pictures, was reasonably clean and had great AC. However, the listing was inaccurate. The listing said it was within walking distance of a community lake. I contacted the host before arrival and they confirmed this, saying the lake was a short walk down a community path, many guests enjoy swimming off the dock and we should bring camping chairs for seating. The lake was the main reason we chose that property but THERE WAS NO LAKE! The first night was filled with very confusing, unhelpful and inaccurate messaging about this with the “host.” It became clear had they never been to the property and were either an AI or customer service representative for company (Blue Maple) that has a lot of properties. They didn’t know anything about the property/area that wasn’t googlable and in the property manual. I’ve never left a bad review on AirBnB but claiming your property is next to a lake (with oddly specific details) when that is untrue is unnerving and broke trust”airbnb

“False advertisement on listing. Pictures taken years ago or altered. There is no brick firepit in the front with big red chairs and a red umbrella on the picnic table. There is spot to build a fire with chairs. The pictures show a working fireplace but signs showing don't use. The dining room table is different and the queen bed not as pictured. The grill is not the same as pictured. The hot tub is there but the picture is off. Found multiple dead bugs throughout the place, including on the bath towels and loose stands of hair. It took the entire first night to cool off the "attic" because it was hotter. Dead bugs in the attic. Smoke detectors went off when using the range because of old pans. Not in a secluded area, neighbors on sides and across the street. No coffee although a picture. No paper products. One trash bag and you have to take trash to dump. Not going back and unfortunately don't recommend.”airbnb

“Upon check-in my partner and I found a blunt on the dehumidifier which was very disturbing for health and safety concerns on what else we could possibly find. The house itself NEEDS MAINTENANCE bad at some point I’m sure it was beautiful but now it just looks run down. The grill caught on fire multiple times due to negligent maintenance. Unfortunately my dog was cut on glass that was left directly in front of the hot tub so beware to wear shoes. Left over construction debris poses a safety concern and just takes away from the beauty of the mountains. Although all the setbacks the view is absolutely beautiful and was worth it all!”airbnb

“This was by far the worst place that we’ve ever stayed at. There were several issues with the house. First thing we noticed was the musty smell. The house is dated and has a lack of proper maintenance. After the first night the central air conditioning quit cooling and we were stuck trying to regulate the house temperature with a window unit and a floor unit. Which was extremely loud and could only be placed right next to the bed which greatly interfered with sleep. The A/C was a must have due to medical reasons and was expressed to the property management . The exterior door knob was missing to the screened porch leaving it unable to use. The grill leaked gas at the burners making it impossible to regulate temperature. And the dryer had an out of order sign leaving it unusable. It was a very peaceful location when the neighbors dog wasnt barking. Customer service was horrible. Area was great but will definitely not be staying at any of Tony’s blue maple locations when we visit again!”airbnb

“The location was excellent and very private, which we really appreciated. There were a few issues worth noting. “Bedroom 3” was listed as having two beds and a sofa bed, but it only had two beds. The sofa bed was actually in the living room, not the bedroom which complicated sleeping arrangements. The entry codes provided were also incorrect, which caused some initial inconvenience when all of my kids had to use the restroom simultaneously, though that seems like an easy fix going forward. The biggest issue was with trash management. The trash bins were not secured, and animals got into them. We were initially asked to clean up the mess, which wasn’t appropriate. To their credit, they later acknowledged that we shouldn’t have had to handle that. Unfortunately, the problem repeated itself, and trash was scattered across the road and lawn on two consecutive days. Despite these issues, we still chose to extend our stay by an extra day, which speaks to how much we liked the location”airbnb

“This placed looked nice and was in a great location for our girls' trip, but we did not get to stay there. The host did not respond on AirBnB when we did not receive check in instructions, and then when we reached out with the phone number they stated we did not have a booking with them. We clearly did. Thankfully, AirBnB customer service refunded us and helped us book elsewhere. Regrettably, I worry that booking this property through AirBnB is not reliable. Perhaps through the company website would be effective.”airbnb
