Upstay

Upstay's guest rating of 4.71 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

Wow! What a tremendous property boasting such incredible potential. We rented the main house and barndominium and upon arrival we were blown away at how incredible this property is. Then we got to looking at the details and there is quite a bit of maintenance needing to happen. Ice machines were not clean and did not work, stove top was natural gas and the igniter wouldn’t stop sparking when cooking, the popcorn machine didn’t work, the grill outside was out of propane, and trash was littered around the trash cans and parts of the property. The TVs were not connected to the WiFi, and paint repairs were obvious. Additionally, early check in was requested a week early. After multiple back and forth we were finally told and hour before our requested check in that if we pay $75 we can check in early due to rushing the cleaners. I didn’t know that means the house wont be cleaned. That’s the main issues but aside from all of that the place is incredible, if it was just maintained properly

Please reconsider your stay! We encountered several issues, including at least nine roaches in the kitchen and bathroom downstairs. When we arrived, everything seemed clean initially. However, there was an unpleasant odor coming from the kitchen, and some of the comforters had stains. Additionally, the runner on the dining room table was marked as well. To feel more at ease, we decided to buy cleaning supplies. As we began wiping down the cabinets and dining room table, it became clear just how much dirt had accumulated on them. The pool was in poor condition, with murky water. I contacted the host about the pool, and they initially informed me that maintenance wouldn’t be able to come until after our departure, which was a key factor in choosing this location. Despite the clear state of the pool, the host assured us it was safe to swim. I compared it to the neighboring pool, which was well-maintained and just a right next door. After inquiring if any further action could be taken….

Nice place, only bad thing is they charged me for a broken pool cleaner that we never once used. I didn’t even see a pool cleaner by the pool

We could not even stay here. This place is an absolute nightmare, the door doesn't lock properly, people are banging on the doors making it feel unsafe on the property, the condo reeks of marijuana, lights flicker, and I feel as if I do not need to continue. I brought my family here, and after checking in we were in immediate distraught. Cheapest hotel we could find was $500 for us due to us getting here so late. I thought this would be a fun and nice weekend for my family to go to universal and I was brought onto this monstrosity. Absolutely ridiculous that you guys are allowed to let people stay here. One would think, somewhere in the property reviews it would speak on that. Maybe for someone that has low standards is this place okay, but for anyone that has stayed in a somewhat decent place would feel the same. DO NOT STAY HERE. This is a money scam for horrible lodging.

Photos did not match place, the cleanliness of the unit and outside was not very good. The elevators were broken the whole time we were there and the pool and spa was taped off and not accessible. It did not feel safe the doors to the building itself was always unlocked and parking was a nightmare.

I will never stay at another property hosted by Upstay. BEWARE. Their advertising is deceitful and they removed key details from the listing after we booked. Shady shady shady.

I wanted to enjoy this stay, but there were several issues that made it disappointing. Upon arrival, we noticed roaches in the kitchen, which is a major concern when staying in any home. Cleanliness is extremely important, and this made us uncomfortable. Additionally, washcloths were not provided. The host stated this was due to “sanitary concerns,” yet towels and hand towels were available and we were essentially expected to bathe using those. I expressed that this was not reasonable, and after doing so, the host arranged for washcloths to be delivered the next day. However, only two four-packs were provided, which still felt inadequate for our stay. The host also mentioned that the lack of washcloths was posted in the Airbnb listing, but after reviewing it, that information was not listed at all, which was frustrating and misleading. While I do appreciate the host eventually trying to resolve the issue, basic necessities and cleanliness should be addressed before guests arrive.

Would not recommend this property. Upon arrival, the internet did not work for the first SEVERAL hours, from 4pm to midnightish. Cleanliness was a major issue. We saw multiple roaches in the kitchen on several days, which is unacceptable and a serious concern. Basic amenities were missing, including washcloths, trash bags, dish soap etc. Garbage disposal also did not work. There was also unannounced construction/maintenance with loud banging that woke my sleeping baby the first morning we were there! To make matters worse, several large raccoons were consistently on the front porch, blocking us from leaving. They hissed at my family, making it unsafe, especially while trying to get a baby to the car. I literally had to run with the baby, while my dad swatted and screamed at the hissing animals(I have pictures of that for reference) The property also showed noticeable wear with scuffs and damage throughout. For safety and sanitation reasons, I would never recommend staying here.

The A/C was not working in the townhome, and the host was aware. Several emails were sent while we were traveling informing we will be relocated to a different location. I saw the emails after checking in because we were traveling. I called the co-host to understand what was going on and was told the A/C was working. There will be a weekly inspection completed during the middle of our stay to inspect the townhome for the next family which made on sense. The co-host lied. The A/C was still broken and seemed like a cover up. After emailing, texting and calling about the A/C not working we were relocated on day 2. The alternative location did not have a game room which is why I choose the original townhome. Five days after our stay, I am still trying to track down the host and co-host to acommodate for our inconvience. They are quick to say we got your message and will follow up, but never do. I hope this helps you if you are considering this host.

Condo is outdated. Jacuzzi had mold and mildew in the jets. Shower head had rust and mold. The other bathroom tub/shower combo clogs and water submerges in the tub while showering. Very dirty looks like house keeping just wipe down. Furniture is old and outdated as well. Sofa has a sink in when you sit down as well as a permanent sink in the arm rest on the sofa. I wouldn’t recommend if you have any respiratory issues due to the mildew and mold. I feel like $180 a night I could’ve stayed in a nice place.
