Sweet Homes Vacation Rentals

“We really enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent for exploring this stretch of the Oregon Coast, and the house has wonderful natural lighting, a nice billiard table, plenty of space, and a useful double oven for cooking dishes at different temperatures. It is large for two people, but would be ideal for a family or friends traveling together; having the whole place to ourselves was enjoyable, too. A few practical details kept it from feeling fully polished for the price. There were no towel/clothing hooks anywhere, so wet towels had to be draped over chairs. The refrigerator ice maker was not working, though the hosts supplied extra ice trays the next morning. There were no pot holders or oven mitts, kitchen scissors, or sponges. The cookware was old and lacked a good nonstick pan, and the large, heavy hot-tub cover was difficult for one person to remove. Overall, a beautiful, well-located home with a few easily-remedied deficiencies.”

“Beautiful location and wonderful beach access in a very quiet neighborhood. Views from the west-facing windows are fantastic (sand and dunes). It was just disconcerting that the carpet needs to be shampooed or even replaced. For a fairly expensive rental with a no dogs/no shoes policy, I was caught off guard by the state of the living room carpet. Also, as someone mentioned previously, the water tastes and smells very off putting. A water filter is really needed for the house.”

“This place was charming as far as decorations are concerned and it was in a great spot with a beautiful view of the ocean and easy access to the beach for the most part. There were a variety of things in the kitchen to use as well. The cleanliness of the home was not as expected unfortunately. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if I could count on it being clean.”

“One of the most beautiful locations for a rental on the Oregon coast. Unfortunately the home house a mouse problem as well as a few other issues. Found mouse poop multiple times throughout are stay and can hear them rummaging throughout the house at night . Maybe 20% of the windows function and quite a bit of general maintenance needs to be done throughout the home. We did rent towards the end of the vacation season on the coast. Property could be a 5 star if the house got worked on and pests were taking care of. Property management team did refund us a portion of our stay for all the issues but after reading older reviews seems like a frequent problem with this property. Would not rent again or recommend until those repairs were made and rodent problem was fully addressed.”

“Animal hair on master bed bedding and pillows Lots of pill bugs crawling around in studio building Black mold above and around main shower Animal hair all over main floor Studio smelled strongly - not sure which odor, not pleasant Bathroom door adjacent to bedroom could not close Stained carpet upstairs Hot tubs only got warm, not hot Trim and paneling on wall coming off in places Ripped chairs No kitchen towels or washcloths Dishes left in dishwasher (clean) Random drill left in foyer We almost risked a two star hotel for our beach stay, but decided to pay extra and rent this place. With the bugs and mold and doors that couldn't close it felt like we could have stayed at the 2 star hotel and done better, and paid $700 less. Location on the water is nice and decor is cute... need to fix up the house or drop the price by a lot.”

“Fantastic location on the beach with a great, flat trail for beach access. Great views. Had difficulty entering the house with a faulty lock, found dirty bed linens and when they brought replacements we had to change them out ourselves, and washing machine was broken. Some dog hair on furniture (they charge an extra cleaning fee if you bring dogs, so I would have expected extra cleaning for this). Hot tub was good, ping pong table was fun. Overall we had a good stay.”

“The home is very spacious and was a great setup to hang out and watch the kids play. Nice dining table and plenty of dishes for family dinners. Plenty of towels. Comfy beds and plenty of room for toddlers and baby to sleep undisturbed. Beach was great and nice to have a sandy spot right at the bottom of the stairs. We enjoyed the hot tub. Now some negatives. Our check-in was late and we were notified 25 minutes before check-in, which was annoying because we were on our way after a large grocery shop. Some of the pans didn’t work on the stove, salt and oil spray provided - no pepper! No coffee. No coffee pods. 20 non dairy creamers that we never used. The washer left oil marks on our clothes and the dryer snagged the heck out our clothes. Said they would ‘pass that on to the team” not sure what that means but I would not wash clothes here. We had a lovely vacation but for the price I expected more.”

“The house is on a gravel road. Driving a new car that was just washed…. Driveway is an awkward shape that made it hard to back out of. When I walked into the house the smell of urine was unbelievably strong! It was coming from the main bathroom which even with the door closed you could smell at the dinning room table. The cabinet under sink was missing a bolt. The decor and house its self was roomy and nice.”

“Demanded a bunch of personal information and threatened to cancel last minute if we refused to give it to them. I didn't want to try and find another place on short notice, so I gave in to their demands. They then left us hanging with no entry code for the place. They didn't respond to us or to airbnb support. The next day they haughtily informed us that they had texted us the code, which turned out to be half true; they texted us a link to their website, and if you clicked that and somehow knew to scroll down and find and click on another the precise right second link, and then figured out to click on a lock shaped icon on that page, a code popped up. Good luck figuring all that out if you have the misfortune to book this place.”

“Sweet Homes never provided me the access to the house. I followed all the rules and provided my license plate number. I was in contact with them all day. I even spoke with the cleaning crew as they left at 5pm. However, Sweet Home NEVER gave me the access code to enter the property. I spent 90+ minutes at the door calling and texting and messaging trying to get the code to the keypad. Sweet Homes didn’t care. They took my money and laughed at me. What they did to me is not only a case for the BBB but is also criminal.”
