“We arrived for check in after driving 1200 miles from Idaho. The house has a strong musty mold smell that’s overpowering as soon as you open the door. There was a scent wax pot going on the counter but it did not help. We noticed dead cockroaches and live ones on the floors. We immediately left the unit and contacted the host requesting a refund. She stated they would need to investigate and then she would refund us. She claimed she had refunded us, but when speaking with Airbnb support team they let us know she had not refunded us. We sent them the messages stating she would refund and the pictures of cockroaches. Airbnb support issued a refund. Upon looking at VRBO reviews on this unit, we found other reviews from 2025 saying there were bugs and mold smell. This is an ongoing issue and this unit should not be listed for rent. The decor is charming but the mold is a health risk and there is a cockroach infestation.”

“Cool house design- everything inside is very dated… pretty pricey for just one night about $300. I felt it was worth about $140-150/night. We also paid the night before for a 2 hr late check out- $50- got a message the morning of check out telling me to leave by 10… and the cleaning lady would be there at 10- even though I paid for a late check out at noon…I had to get on the phone with their customer service- and they still couldn’t confirm I paid for a late check out. Finally I get a message saying ok sorry yes you can check out at noon. Just a frustrating ordeal. When we were trying to have a slow morning and paid for late check out, not mess around on the phone trying to prove it to someone. Expensive for what it is. We probably won’t stay here again. But the view is great! The pool is not within eyesight of this place FYI. We couldn’t see it. We ended up going to another pool to swim.”

“The host requires name, address, phone number, ID number, selfie picture taken through their app and picture of your drivers license for every person staying in the property. They mention this prior to booking but don’t include the extent of the information required until after you pay. This is enough personal information to open most accounts. However if you do not provide this information you can cancel the reservation but they keep your money. This information should be required prior to payments so the renter can back out without loosing the money. I expect it is set up this way by design.”

“Horrible, did not state time before I paid and didn’t stay at the place and canceled within an hour and still didn’t receive my money back.”

“I hope this helps someone learn from my mistake. We're traveling from GA to Colorado with our two dogs. I needed a day of reservation. I use AIRBNB all the time due to convenience. 95% of my uses have been great. However, this spot is run by a corporation rather than a person. Tia doesn't work with the person. I filtered for spots that allowed pets and booked. Non refundable but since it was same day, I wasn't concerned. Tia sent the registration papers and I filled in the part for our dogs. She said my dogs were too large and not able to stay. I asked for a refund and she referred me back to AIRBNB. This all occurred within an hour of the booking. My mistake was not reading things in their entirety. Pet size was down at the bottom of the reservation (the very bottom). So it's my mistake. Long day of travel and tired. But I feel like a person gives some consideration to that and is willing to work with you. This is a management company and no mistakes allowed. Hope this helps someone.”

“The pool shown in the pics has been foreclosed on and has been closed for months according to the community office. It is the entire reason we booked this property. When I reached out to the owners about this they were cold and said there are 5 other pools. Which is true, however they are all very small pools and there is no way to eat on property. Then they say you have access to the lodge of the four seasons, which is true but only the community center. Which we found out once we got there that the big nice pools were not included in our amenities and we could not use them. This feels like false advertising as all the pics show the closed pool and there is no other similar option to use. We would not have booked this property if we would have known we were being scammed. The owners need to remove the pics with the real pool pics or at a minimum note it in the description that the advertised pool has been closed for months. My kids and I were very disappointed.”

“House was okay but they never answered the phone”

“The home offers plenty of sleeping space for larger groups and a wooded setting but was still noisy with close neighbors. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and balcony which was nice. However, guests should note that the king bedroom is upstairs, while the other bedrooms are downstairs. The property felt more dated and worn in person than the listing photos suggest. We noticed cobwebs, dusty areas, wall scuffs and buildup in some bathroom and AC areas. Some furnishings and décor also appear different from the photos making the home feel different than expected. We were disappointed that access information for the nearby free open pool listed was not provided making it unavailable for our use during the stay. Guests should be aware that there is a significant amount of communication, reminders, and additional forms required before and during the stay, which was more extensive than what we have experienced at Airbnb properties.”

“Our trip turned out ok, but it was unfortunately so stressful to plan which is why overall it was just ok 3/5. First, we did not end up staying at this unit because the team messaged saying there were sump pump issues. The team did offer to place our group in 2 smaller units but then had issues with one of those units so had to offer a different one. The Lakecation team members were relatively quick to respond, however it became extremely frustrating that I could not get a confident answer. We were told we “should” be able to check in at noon and the door code “should” be ____ but both of those were wrong. There were no issues in the unit once we could finally get in. Our stay would have been much less of a headache if we could have gotten some straight forward answers. I am however very grateful that the boat and charter package worked out. <$500 total for a pontoon ride that fit up to 12 people was an absolute steal and we are thankful for Captain Diane for turning our trip around.”

“The place its self is cute. But, the condo was dirty with mold on the shower curtain, someone’s left over bar of soap in the shower. The beds were comfortable, but there was wads of SOMEONE ELSES hair all through them. The kitchen was stocked, but all the cups in the cabinet were extremely dirty. The porch outside is cute, but the cushions were left out in rain so when you sat down, water pooled out of it. The water and hot water heater was off, no one told us we needed to turn that on so that wasn’t fun. Asked for a partial refund just for the fact that we did stay there, but it was not sanitary. She gave me $25. Go somewhere else and save your sanity because this was a headache and one of the worst places I’ve stayed and I travel a ton!”
