Great Ocean Condos and Homes

Great Ocean Condos and Homes's guest rating of 4.69 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“I don't like that there is not any security. People came from the beach that did not stay there to use the bathrooms in the lobby. A man was drinking vodka and chasing it down with water in a jug, talking to himself and walking around the property. We could smell pot in our bathroom for four days. And as you walked in the front door. No one at a desk where you could ask questions or get help. Our room was nice except for the smell of pot all the time. They only have one elevator that worked. You would have to wait a long time for it to come to your floor. It stayed on the 9th floor for 25 minutes one day. Our room was clean but the windows need to be cleaned up some. I would have the floors vacuumed in the halls everyday if I worked there. Where you come in the door from the beach/pool water was dripping from the other floors AC units. It was not clean to me. It was an Okay place to stay for the money I guess. But I will not come back there again.”airbnb

“We had an ocean view it was not ocean front. We also had to keep fixing the toilet.”airbnb

“Upon arrival at 5pm after a long day of travel, we had difficulties with Great Ocean Condos. The crib and highchair advertised were not in the unit. Our 16 month old grandson had no where to safely sleep. The staff we called were neither friendly nor apologetic for the mistake. Several hours later a pack and play was delivered, again not what was advertised. It was left on the porch without even a doorbell ring. Overall, the unit did not appear cared for. The bathrooms are dated and were not clean. The Murphy bed sagged in the middle making for poor sleep. The bedrooms besides the Master bedroom were much smaller than they look in the pictures. My husband was hit in the back by a flying umbrella at the pool. The umbrella had come out of it's stand picked up by the wind. When we reported this to Great Ocean they clarified that they were not responsible for that part of the trip. The staff we dealt with took no responsiblity for anything. Can't beat the view though.”airbnb

“We always had good experiences with the hostess, but we don't think this one was. They wanted to charge extra $100 for a maybe 1 hour late checkout, also they requested to take all the trash out and do the dishes, which is common sense anyway, but make us feel like we need to do the cleaning people job.”airbnb

“AC was out our entire stay. Couldn’t sleep with blankets on. It was 85 degrees inside for our entire stay. Maintenance was in and out very disruptive. I was almost hurt by a pipe burst. Barely refunded for our stay. Bathroom tub was clogged and 2 guests fell and hurt themselves due to the water not draining. Ridiculous. Was barely refunded.”airbnb

“We had a great stay overall. The space was very large and comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, and we really appreciated all of the extras like beach chairs, a beach tent, and kid toys. The only issue was with the sleeping setup for our toddler. The listing mentioned both a crib and a pack and play, and I specifically messaged ahead of time to confirm there would be a crib because my 15-month-old does not sleep well in a pack and play. We were told there was a crib available, but when we arrived there was only a pack and play. Unfortunately, our son struggled to sleep and we ended up leaving a night early. If the hosts had been more transparent, we simply would have rented a crib ourselves. Other than that, it was a great place and we enjoyed our stay.”airbnb

“For a last minute trip, and literally only needing to sleep and shower it was ok. Check in was a pain-very little instructions. Check in as at 4:00 pm yet management closes at 1:00 pm. Had to sit and wait for another person to come into the building to even enter building since it requires a key to enter and you can’t get the key until you get into condo. The fire alarm went off during the week for well over 20 minutes-I messaged management and they weren’t concerned at all. The fire department finally showed up and cleared everything. The condo was ok other than a TV is definitely needed in the master bedroom. How do you have (1) in the spare bedroom and not another in the master bedroom? My biggest issue was the disgusting bath towels, hand towels and washcloths. I have pictures-it’s disgusting that anyone would even leave this in a unit for another person to use-the washcloths and towels look like they haven’t been washed and it was disgusting! Management/Cleaners do better!”airbnb

“The home fit our family of 7 comfortably and photos were accurate. The riverfront location is beautiful, but the overall experience fell short, especially for the price. There were several maintenance issues: half the stove worked, some lights didn’t function, bugs all over the bathroom, broken hardware. The bedroom lights and toilet were fixed during the stay, but maintenance took a few days longer than promised. The pool heater was originally listed but removed after booking, which was an issue because the pool is shady and not heated by the sun. Also the piano is for owner-use only. While “starter packs” were provided for a few household items, we had to purchase basic necessities like toilet paper, soap, paper towels, tissues, and trash bags. We even had to buy bath towels because there were not enough for everyone. Future guests should know that this adds to the cost of the stay and takes up time. Nice setting, but the bare-bones experience felt unprepared and uncomfortable.”airbnb

“a few hours after checking in made a Walmart run to get food and received a call about having a party. after talking with them 30 mins later the police arrives 4 cars about a party. keep in mind we are visiting my daughter no party. The neighbors are racist they saw we were African American and associated us wit partying. every time we went outside to get something out of the van or leave out the neighbors just watched us. This was not a good experience where we could relax and enjoy the patio or the bbq grill because the neighbors would assume we was having a party. I was the told by the police that it was a party there the night before and they had to come see what the complaint was about but if it happened on a Thursday night why did you come on a Friday night as well ass why would the host send a message to me my reservations was not until Friday to Sunday. I will never spend that much on a rental and did not feel comfortable at all and being watch because we were not the same race”airbnb

“We spent 3 weeks in the property. the apartment was almost completely empty from furniture's, carpets and any other piece of art or furniture that makes the place feel like a home. the sofa on the living room was filthy covered with stains,, we informed the management that we will arrive e late: the fridge was empty not even a bottle of water, washing powder for the dishwasher , n o t h i n g. the shelves of the kitchen cabinet were mostly empty with nice stickers containing the information of what SHOULD have been there, highly disappointing. It is mostly a result of very poor management.”airbnb
