“A lovely house for a family vacation with day trips to the Acadia, Blue Hill, Stonington, and Deer Isle areas. The house was spotless and well stocked for family meals and close by to everyday amenities, cute shops and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sheep in the pasture yard. Communication was very timely when we had questions or concerns. We especially appreciated the guy that was sent in advance with recommendations for things in the area. While listed as pet friendly, there are several rules around bringing dogs.”

“We had an absolutely amazing time here- the accommodations were exactly as listed. The response time on questions was quick! There was a night we ran out of propane on the grill and it was quickly replaced the next morning, even coordinating convenient times for the owner to stop by to do so. This location was great for a quiet getaway- plenty of deer sightings, bird watching and coyote howls listening! We had an excellent time.”

“My family and I, along with our dog, stayed for a week in this cabin. Brenda and Chelsea along with the owner, Scott, were extremely kind and helpful in every way! When we arrived, they left us a few items to enjoy during our stay. The house was very clean inside and out. Beds were very comfortable with ample storage in each room. Plenty of space for us to move around. We brought our 16’ fishing boat and was able to dock it there. The water was very clean and refreshing. Fishing was great! All in all, we were very pleased with this house and will definitely return!”

“We enjoyed our week at this sweet waterfront cottage. The location is quiet and peaceful — we spotted bald eagles and even a seal from the deck. As previously mentioned, the kitchen and bathrooms are dated but functional. The smoke alarm went off repeatedly early one morning with nothing cooking; the host was responsive, though we worried about disturbing the neighbors. Also, the listing doesn't mention the beach in front of the cottage is shared — the neighboring cottage used it to access their boat, which wasn't an issue but should be noted. The beach was also covered in used lobster shells when we arrived, as though someone had a huge lobster feed there prior to our arrival, which we cleaned up due to the odor.”

“The LOON POINT rental is a magical place in Maine. The views are spectacular. It is the quintessential Maine house on the water. It was central to all the places we wanted to go-Acadia, Ellsworth, Camden and Bar Harbor. It was our first time in Maine, and the property exceeded all expectations. I feel so lucky that we found Brenda and Chelsea @ Blue Hill Properties. They are so helpful, and kind. I can’t believe how lucky we were to spend a week at LOON POINT. I will be recommending them and this location to anyone who asks me about my family’s trip to Blue Hill Maine”

“My family spent two weeks at The Maine Idea with our dog and had a lovely time. Excellent location close to central Blue Hill, easy to get anywhere. As other reviewers have mentioned, the house (like many in this area) is on a busy road and it’s not a walkable neighborhood, but the owners have been very thoughtful about making sure there is an ample gated front yard for dogs and children to play and be safe. Noise was not an issue for us once. Beyond location, the house is adorable, well appointed, and clean. We were well taken care of and extremely comfortable - not every house in Maine has AC and ours came in handy during a rare summer heat wave. Finally, Brenda and Chelsea were stand out hosts. They went above and beyond for my family, replying quickly to all communication, and checking in with us throughout our trip. We would stay at The Maine Idea again without hesitation.”

“Puffin Rock is a very special spot! We loved having the kayaks and paddle boards for all ages to enjoy. Most of us dipped in water each day for a little swim. We roasted marshmallows around the fire pit which overlooks the ocean and loved relaxing in the other wonderful sitting areas. Several of us were known to hang out for long periods of time in hammocks. We ate dinner outside every evening on the deck, all eight of us very comfortably. Also a great place for kids with all types of games available. The inside space is very spacious and open and inviting. It was our second year there and quite lovely. We also had good communication with the property managers when we had questions.”
