“Apartment was in a good location in Charleston. The beds were so dirty they couldn’t be slept on without washing first. The washer and dryer were unreliable at best and when we brought it to the owners attention, they said it was working just fine even though it took us four hours to dry a small load of towels. Parking a midsize SUV in the driveway is difficult alone but when the downstairs guests decided to park there as well, we couldn’t fit our car and was told there was nothing they could do. Construction is happening right behind the house from about 6 AM to 8 or 9 PM every night and there is a restaurant right next-door with guests late into the evenings.”airbnb

“The house needs some work. Paint, the floors refinished as places feel Like you will fall through and are cracked. When we first arrived, the trash hadn’t been removed, yard not cut, dirty but they were very responsive and got everything clean and repaired by the next day. They also agreed to provide financial compensation for the inconvenience.”airbnb

“We had an amazing stay in Charleston! The host was incredibly communicative, providing clear instructions and responding incredibly fast. The location is unbeatable, just a short distance from Patriots Point and close to great restaurants and shopping. While the house was lovely, we found the bathroom to be quite small and not as well-maintained as the rest of the space, which was a bit uncomfortable for taller guests.”airbnb

“The photos do not match how the home really was. The home is portrayed in the descriptions as a clean family friendly place to say with access to a pool. We pulled into a rough neighborhood with a loud party going on next door with drinking, LOUD music, cussing and yelling until all hours of the night. We found trash all over the yard, the lawn furniture, fire pit, and games shown in the photos all BROKEN. There was a barricade set up to keep guests out of the back yard. The front gate was in pieces on the ground. We got into the home, and there was a roach on the floor, the fridge had spilled food in it, the cookware was unusable. The bunk beds were broken and swayed from side to side also unusable. The pull out couch had no blankets. The walls are all scuffed up & handprints everywhere. Such a shame we paid almost 600 a night for this experience. I had to ask the host several times for a refund. I had t follow up and follow up. finally they gave us $250 of the almost 1200 i paid.”airbnb

“Overall, we had a good stay and enjoyed the property. However, we were disappointed by the lack of communication regarding the disruptive construction taking place directly on the street during our visit. The noise and difficulty accessing the property impacted the experience, and we feel this should have been disclosed prior to booking. Instead, we were informed of the construction a few hours before check-in. It was clear that the construction had been taking place for quite awhile and would start as early as 8am until 7pm. Other than that, the home itself was enjoyable and met our expectations.”airbnb

“It was a little dirty and had some leftover items from previous guests. When I voiced concerns the owners took a whole day to respond.”airbnb

“Property bordered the interstate! Noise level was unacceptable! House shook with vibrations from speeding cars and trucks! No towel racks and in one bathroom no toilet paper holder! Chair at counter was broken! Very disappointed and will never rent this unit again!”airbnb

“Overall the property was just not clean nor well maintained. Both of the couches were so dirty, that we could not sit on them. The sheets were dirty and had bugs. We reached out to the host after our late evening arrival and received an automated message back that they would look into it. We spent the night washing the sheets so we could at least sleep there. We heard back from the host the next morning that they would send their cleaners but by that point we had already washed the sheets, and there was nothing that could be done about the couch, this was a very worn and stained couch that needs to be replaced or as admitted by the host later, needed a professional steam cleaning. The blinds in the bedroom had a broken wand, mold in the shower, rotted deck boards, floors were gritty. The host suggested a refund, but then did not respond, so we enlisted Airbnb's help. Upon finally speaking with the host, who agreed to a one night refund, they then refused to honor it.”airbnb

“As a traveler I also try to stay alert however in the middle of the day my friend and I were followed onto private property and solicited us for money and only left when I yelled. I called the host and he answered like he had about another issue with there being a notable soft sinking spot in the floor in front of the bathroom. He was very apologetic and offered us a full refund. I asked to see the camera footage of the incident which he and no other co host ever showed and once I asked for written proof of the refund all communication from the property ceased they would answer any calls or texts from me except one saying they’d call within two hours but never did. We ended up leaving after taking care of an important task and got a room at a hotel overall I do not recommend this place. It’s small cramped expensive and if there’s an emergency or concern they will stop talking and ignore you.”airbnb

“Unfortunately, this was one of the worst Airbnb experiences we have had. The apartment was in a very poor and dirty condition upon arrival. There was visible mold inside the dishwasher and kitchen, a window would not lock properly, and the overall cleanliness was unacceptable. The floors clearly had not been cleaned properly. After walking barefoot through the apartment, our feet would literally turn black. We stayed here with our two young children (1 and 3 years old), so cleanliness and safety were especially important to us. Instead of a relaxing stay, the experience became very stressful. What made the situation even more disappointing was the handling afterward. Representatives of the host offered a full refund if we would still leave a 5-star review. Communication completely stopped. Phone calls got blocked. Paying almost $1,200 for two nights made this experience even more disappointing. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this listing.”airbnb
