Sea Island Homes
4.74Visit website
Sea Island Homes's guest rating of 4.74 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“The house was beautiful- loved the master bath and bedroom. My two younger children loved the back bedroom that led to backyard. We enjoyed the large neighborhood park nearby and even got a day to drive to the beach. Relatively easy to get to all Charleston locations. It was very clean and tidy when we came. Would definitely recommend and stay here again. The host was also able to provide a pack and play for my one year old which helped our travel be a little bit lighter.”airbnb

“Our second time staying and we will be back. Spacious home, comfortable beds and furniture, great private yard for our dogs to run around with comfortable seating around the fire pit and a screened in porch as well. Around 20 minutes to MUSC depending on traffic and was very easy to get back and forth! Fantastic restaurants very close. Friendly neighborhood. Highly recommended!”airbnb

“Host was very accommodating and got back to me quickly. They were gracious about a situation I was dealing with, and I would recommend this place to young adults/students, or a couple visiting the area!”airbnb

“We appreciated a few things about the stay. The appliances appeared new, there was a newly built deck and fresh paint, and check-in was easy with a smart lock. The home was well stocked with K-cups, extra paper goods, spices, and cookware, and everything functioned as expected. However, the overall experience didn’t match expectations. The neighborhood did not feel safe or well-kept and was noisier than described. The yard was poorly maintained with significant rubbish in the backyard, and there was a broken-down vehicle on blocks across the street. Overall, the area felt unkempt. Inside, there was a persistent musty smell, and we frequently ran dehumidifiers. While described as “charming and traditional,” it felt more like an older home with noticeable wear. Some furniture was taped together, the shower curtain needs replacing, and the kitchen plants were dried out and dead. Overall, we were disappointed and would not return or book with this property management group again.”airbnb

“Many maintenance issues ie: There were bats or birds in the chimney that screeched. Gap in front door/frame that critters could enter into. Back yard light is just wires, no light for pets or security. Ice maker not working. Dishwasher doesn’t lock so can’t use. Fan in bathroom didnt work & no window to vent humidity. Shower liner too narrow & filthy, no curtain. Floors were found to be filthy when we cleaned up spilled water on day one. Indoor card table set up in back yard with old charcoal grill. Sketchy run down shed with half open door that didn’t close. 1/2 bath had no fan and couldn’t open the window bc there wasn’t a screen. Absolutely no shelving in bathrooms to put anything. Hole in bathroom door, filthy walls, the list goes on and on. They let us out and refunded for nights not used but with all these issues i have no clue how they’re just now finding out. After sending a message regarding the issues and no response by noon the next day, i had to call the mgmt company.”airbnb

“they charged us $981 for 3 nights. granted it does have a bunch of beds which is all we needed it for but we were gonna have a jacuzzi night after the wedding rehearsal and couldnt even find it without messaging them and it was very very unprofessional how it was advertised. this place imo was worth maybe $100 a night. my wife got asked if she had any spare money while she was unloading her clothes without me there. for what the price was i am not happy at all.”airbnb

“Beware of Sea Island Homes This was the worst Airbnb experience I’ve had in 14 years of using the platform (and as a former Superhost). We arrived with a group of 6 adults, 1 child, and a dog, and immediately experienced a major plumbing failure—raw sewage backed up into the showers, and toilets would not flush. We contacted the host right away, but no one came to fix the issue and no plumber was sent. The only solution offered was a late-night move to another property for just 12 hours, which was not realistic given our commitments and the rural location. Sea Island Homes initially agreed to reimburse us, then stopped responding entirely—including to Airbnb support. Unacceptable from both a health and customer service standpoint.”airbnb

“There was a fake smoke detector that was actually a hidden camera and management denied all responsibility and acted like it wasn’t a big deal. I took pictures of it. I’ve been using Airbnb for years and this is the first bad Airbnb experience I’ve ever had.”airbnb

“The AC did not work at all. The back door would not unlock so the backyard and hot tub were inaccessible, which is not okay when you have dogs and had intended to use the tub. According to AirBnB messenger their average response time is 6 hours, which when reporting big issues isn’t acceptable. We left early and had to find new last minute accommodations. The fans in the house were filthy but the place was overall clean.”airbnb
