Sea Island Homes

Sea Island Homes's guest rating of 4.74 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

New in town. Not cleaned upon arrival. Had to drive around for 2hrs while they got cleaners in. But they didn’t clean floors at all - host delivered a broom & a mop for ME to do it! WiFi inaccessible for 5 days. Kitchen & bathroom light burned out- they dropped off lightbulbs. Like I was going to climb a ladder alone! Last guest’s trash heaped around can outside. My dog Found broken Glass & food trash in gravel yard. Pic on listing is not recent. No glassware at all, no bowls to eat or cook with. Ktchn tap pressure too low to wash! Listing says sleeps 8? No way. Super noisy with emergency vehicles and traffic- all hours Shady house on same property. Trash heaps beside that house. I Felt unsafe and uneasy with their behavior. People coming & going at all hours of the nite! Host was responsive sometimes and others, my requests or alerts were ignored. One of the worst places I’ve ever rented. Yes it was on the cheap side but I way overpaid for what I got. And I stayed for a month too

Unfortunately, our experience was not what we expected. My family and I noticed a terrible smell coming from the basement, and the overall air quality in the home was not great. The smell and air made us uncomfortable enough that we ended up leaving around 2 AM rather than staying the night. We were very disappointed with the condition of the property and how the situation was handled afterward. We were only offered a $50 discount, which did not feel appropriate given that we had to leave in the middle of the night and did not get the experience we paid for. Overall, this stay was not what we expected, and unfortunately, we would not stay here again.

Do not recommend going to Airbnb, there is a considerable amount of damage in the Airbnb that makes it unsafe and or does not match the photos. WiFi didn’t work and they didn’t bother to try fixing it after reaching out during our stay. The front bedroom needs large dark shades because all you see the whole night is all the cars headlights through the cheap blinds. In short story don’t recommend this Airbnb there’s much better options out there for the same price.

the beds were clean andet our requirements for the number of guests. there was trash outside the property on arrival, a sink in one of the bathroom was clogged, the wifi didn't work and 2 tubs dirty. I'm a tech savvy person and all the password instructions and directions on the router didn't work. this was inconvenient as we had multiple children with us.

I booked this Airbnb back on April 23 for a stay beginning June 30th. My reservation was confirmed months in advance, and on the day of check-in I even received the confirmation message and access codes. Everything indicated that my reservation was valid. When I arrived, I discovered someone else was already staying in the unit I had reserved. After traveling 8.5 hours to my destination and buying groceries, I was left with nowhere to stay because my reservation was not honored. My Mom and I are insulin dependent and need to keep extra insulin cold. Airbnb tried to find another property, but none were close to my original location or offered comparable accommodations. The alternatives would have completely changed my trip. A confirmed reservation should actually mean something. This was a completely unacceptable experience that wasted valuable vacation time, caused unnecessary stress, and destroyed my confidence in Airbnb. I would never trust this platform for an important trip again.

I do NOT recommend. My family stayed 2 nights here while in town visiting extended family. When we arrived at the check in time, we had to sit in our car for 30 minutes with our baby after a day of traveling before we could get in the home because the cleaner was not done. We messaged the host letting them know the home was not ready, & they then informed us that a prior guest had refused to check out. That information was never disclosed to us prior. It was clear that the cleaner had not adequately cleaned the home, & the home was in poor condition. There was a piece of plywood over the fireplace opening & we heard bats at night. There were bugs, marks all over the walls, couches were dirty with visible stains, blood stains on the bed spread and towels, crooked picture frames, random screws on the floor, refrigerator dispenser did not work, poor water pressure, no bathroom fan, & dirty used bath mats. Not safe or comfortable. Listing is extremely misleading and not worth the price.

The home has potential, but I don’t like the neighborhood, there were some issues inside the house, the host knows what is going on.

The location of the home was fabulous however, we encountered a few problems and they were very slow to respond. Tried to schedule a time to have everything fixed, but they never showed up! P-trap missing under the sink, which made the whole house smell like sewage. Several other things happened as well very disappointed with the amount of money we spent.

Many maintenance issues ie: There were bats or birds in the chimney that screeched. Gap in front door/frame that critters could enter into. Back yard light is just wires, no light for pets or security. Ice maker not working. Dishwasher doesn’t lock so can’t use. Fan in bathroom didnt work & no window to vent humidity. Shower liner too narrow & filthy, no curtain. Floors were found to be filthy when we cleaned up spilled water on day one. Indoor card table set up in back yard with old charcoal grill. Sketchy run down shed with half open door that didn’t close. 1/2 bath had no fan and couldn’t open the window bc there wasn’t a screen. Absolutely no shelving in bathrooms to put anything. Hole in bathroom door, filthy walls, the list goes on and on. They let us out and refunded for nights not used but with all these issues i have no clue how they’re just now finding out. After sending a message regarding the issues and no response by noon the next day, i had to call the mgmt company.

Beware of Sea Island Homes This was the worst Airbnb experience I’ve had in 14 years of using the platform (and as a former Superhost). We arrived with a group of 6 adults, 1 child, and a dog, and immediately experienced a major plumbing failure—raw sewage backed up into the showers, and toilets would not flush. We contacted the host right away, but no one came to fix the issue and no plumber was sent. The only solution offered was a late-night move to another property for just 12 hours, which was not realistic given our commitments and the rural location. Sea Island Homes initially agreed to reimburse us, then stopped responding entirely—including to Airbnb support. Unacceptable from both a health and customer service standpoint.
