Jessica was a great host. She gave me thorough and easy to follow instructions. She quickly responded to any of my messages. The property was great! The place looked exactly like the photographs. The location felt safe and is in a very quiet location. The assigned parking spot was also great bonus. The property is situated close to many walkable stores and great places to eat. The room had great views of Hilo, and was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this family friendly place to anyone planning to visit Hilo!

We wanted to stay in Volcano for our trip as a central location for the entire windward coast of the Big Island. This place was perfect for what we needed. The landscape is lush and shields from neighbors. The lanai in the front was the perfect place to relax after a long day, especially with that swinging bed. The inside was cozy, and the kitchen was well-equipped. The hosts were very communicative and responsive.

Every detail, from design to comfort to convenience was perfect. Easy to find, thanks to navigation guidance provided by our host in advance (for printout). By far, one of the most relaxing stays we’ve ever had as a family. Only regret is that it’s so far from home, else we’d love to return regularly! Thank you for a most heavenly stay. Pro-tip: I recorded the night sounds and have enjoyed them as a sweet souvenir of our time in the forest!

We had a lovely stay at the Lava Rock Retreat. It is pretty than the pictures! The view out into the back, lush garden was lovely. The kitchen was so well stocked - all the amenities you could ask for and more. We appreciated the early check-in and the 'get-well kit' after I arrived not feeling well. The hosts were considerate, thoughtful and very gracious. Thank you!

5 stars plus. It felt like being in a rain forest. Gentleman rain on the roof, lush vegetation and frogs gently chirping at twilight. Jessica thought of everything an umbrella by the front door, even spare phone cords. Lots of kitchen appliances and attention to every detail. Countless hours spent thinking about architecture, landscaping and decorating make this space special. I would suggest the addition of some mini split air conditioning. The fans are great most of the time but it got a little hot and sticky on late July afternoons. At least one simple light switch in each room would be easier for me than all of the remotes, gadgets and home automation features that I’m sure some people love.

We enjoyed our stay at Dancing Ferns. Jessica's instructions to get there were better than G or A maps and she is responsive and easy to communicate with. We were two adults and four children and it was a great place to relax, play, cook, and get to the park for hiking. The space feels open and having the two bedrooms and master on opposite sides of the house also provides opportunity for quiet time as well. Overall, we had a great time and would stay here again the next time we come to Volcano.

The house was the best ever! I have never experienced the amenities and kitchen ware that Lava Rock provided. And best of all...coffee in full supply! We appreciated the hospitality and comfortable accomodations. This is the nicest place we've had the pleasure to enjoy!

Lay Back Larry’s is easily one of our family’s favorite rentals we’ve ever stayed in. The location is unbeatable — a gorgeous lanai with ocean views wrapping around multiple rooms, and just steps across the street to soft sand and perfect boogie‑boarding waves. A short walk down the beach brought us to Poipu Beach, where we were treated to daily sightings of Hawaiian sea turtles. The home was ideal for our family of six, with a great layout, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and access to a washer/dryer. We appreciated all the thoughtful touches: beach chairs, towels, coolers, and the convenience of nearby surf, boogie board, and snorkel rentals. Morning coffee, Brennecke’s Beach Broiler, and several resorts all within walking distance. Beyond the beach, we loved exploring nearby hikes to waterfalls, taking a banana boat ride along the Nā Pali Coast, and enjoying an authentic local luau. We made so many incredible memories in just one week — ones we’ll treasure forever. Thank you!

It's a stunning place. Quiet and embraced by nature. Jessica has made this place super cozy and comfy. Be sure to check out their recommendations on the physical manual. Much easier than browsing and researching on the Google map. We've had a great time overall. My fav was watching the Moon rise from the sea on clear days. Will definitely come back if we ever visit Hilo again.
