New England Vacation Rentals

New England Vacation Rentals's guest rating of 4.71 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“This is a great spot! The house was very clean, beds and couches were very comfortable. The location is perfect, one staircase down to the beach. We loved it so much we would consider staying again however there were a couple things to consider. The deck is in very poor condition and slightly hazardous. Screws and nails sticking up, boards popping up, practically rotted. This was annoying since we had 3 small kids with us. We contacted the host but they never did anything for us and that was disappointing (I suggested an extra outdoor rug just to cover it). The landscaping could use some TLC, giant roots sticking up under the outdoor carpet that were major tripping hazards, weeds growing in the outdoor shower, picnic table old. I wish they provided some beach chairs or umbrella and there was no salt or oil to cook with which we forgot to buy. Also bring water shoes since there is rocks by the shore but the beach has a big sandy area and great sandbars which was nice for little kids.”airbnb

“The house was great, in a nice location, and very clean. The only issues we had were 1) that the propane tanks for the grill were both empty, so I had to pay to swap one out for a full one, of which I used only a tiny fraction. 2). We could not figure out how to get the air conditioner thermostat set below 77 degrees, so it was a bit too warm at times. Otherwise this was a charming home with plenty of space for the our family of three adults, three children and one dog.”airbnb

“The property was nice. It was a small cute cottage. Easy to get to the beach. The downfall was that the beds were very uncomfortable. The pillow provided was not comfortable, so I had to buy a new pillow. The couch was small and not comfortable to relax on at the end of the night. There were ants everywhere. For the money it cost to stay there, I was expecting to be able to relax and sleep well. If you're a big person, this is not the place for you, as I am a small person, and the shower was so small that it was hard to wash my hair.”airbnb

“The house was spacious, clean, and in a great location. The beach was only a short walk away, and our family had a wonderful time enjoying the area. Unfortunately, there were several issues during our stay that significantly impacted our experience. Upon arrival, we noticed a very strong chemical odor coming from the garage area and extending into two of the bedrooms. The smell resembled kerosene or spray paint and was strong enough that we were uncomfortable having our newborn sleep in those rooms. As a result, we ended up sleeping on the living room floor. We also experienced a backed-up sink and contacted maintenance. The maintenance technician was unable to resolve the issue and advised us to use a plunger to help drain the water. He also acknowledged the chemical odor but was unsure of its source. Additionally, one of the twin bed comforters had a blood stain on it, and both the trash and recycling bins were already full when we arrived. While we appreciated the home's size, c”airbnb

“The house definitely needs to be upgraded. A maintainer came out quickly when we reported the bad smell and the mold in the air conditioner, but he just replaced the filter for the upstairs machine and then used a windex wipe to clean the visible mold off the downstairs machine- and he left some of the mold behind. We were disappointed that the vacation rental company did not offer us compensation or to move us to another property, especially since we were staying there for our wedding weekend. The house got the job done- giving us a place to leave our stuff and to sleep- but I would not recommend it to a friend. We spent a lot of money on a house that smelled like mold.”airbnb

“Fantastic views but the room was messy and very cramped. Cannot fit more than two adults comfortably. Worst parts were the bugs all over the room (ants, spiders, etc.), dirt in all the corners, hair on pillows, stained throw pillows on the bed, and VERY thin walls/door. We could hear every word our neighbors said clearly and had to barricade the door to muffle the noise.”airbnb

“The place overall is a very nice place with a beautiful ocean bay view which is the best part of the home. The private pier is wonderful to walk down and take a stroll in the beach. As for the negatives We had some issues with the cleanliness of the beds, (hairs in the sheets) hand soap bottles were empty and we couldn’t find trash bags which was an inconvenience. Also, for well over 2k a night I felt the check out cleaning instructions were excessive particularly the part about having to take down all the sheets and towels. Again, the home is beautiful but for for the high price i felt the value overall wasn’t there and we wouldn’t stay here again.”airbnb

“We have been to seaside cottages 4 times before this and this was by far our worst experience. This cottage was small and not very well maintained. It was dusty and old, rusty . The linen were threadbare and blankets were thin. The thermostat was located in a weird location and difficult to operate. Biggest issue was there was no hot water. The entire place needs a revamp. THe grounds beautiful and beach access made me give 3 stars. But will not book this place again.”airbnb

“Beautiful location, humble cottage, but just what I needed. I wasn’t able to check in or out on Sundays as they don’t work that day, which was disappointing as when I checked in no one greeted me and it was a keyless entry so it seemed unnecessary.”airbnb

“The location is too notice. Walk to beach, restaurants, and shops. Quiet and a lovely garden. It was clean although a bit dated. Sunroom is fabulous, all new furniture and sunny. My “okay” rating is because they do not supply linens and towels instead you have to rent them. The price was high for off season and why not include the linen service in the price. I had to go to Marshall’s and buy linens and towels on Friday night at 7:30 after a four hour drive. It was annoying. It is written on the very end of the air bnb description but it should be in the bed section. There was also not garbage bags and I really didn’t get a response on that one so had to go buy my own. I’ve rented Air bnb everywhere and have never seen this and most people at bridal shower agreed. It does not fall in the realm of good host. So if you remember to pack all linens and towels, the place is great.”airbnb
