Manager Review

Mountain Vacation Lodging

Mountain Vacation Lodging's guest rating of 4.74 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

This location is great. Love that it comes with a parking spot and is super walkable. Slept 5 of us easily.

Read the rental agreement before you book. Very detailed requirements to book this place. My colleague and I were renting this place for a work trip and I almost was denied because I was 29. All adults have to be over 30. Lots of questions leading up to confirming the booking but they said we couldn’t get our money back since it was less than 30 days. Regarding the actual stay, the place was clean and really big kitchen. Just hassle at the beginning

Condo was pretty much as pictured. The good: 1. location next to bus line. 2. Very spacious. 3. Comfortable furnishings and beds. 4. The guide book has great info on skiing, bus times, restaurants etc. Could be improved: 1. Says there is a toaster- but no toaster in kitchen anywhere 2. Door lock was hard to manage- doable but often took multiple attemptesbefore opening. 3. There was a mouse under the dishwasher (but to be fair- in this rural of a setting- that’s not unusual). 4. Hard to balance the heat- the master bedroom is either too cold- or the other rooms are too hot. 5. The contract process discussed below. All in all- the good far outweighed the bad- especially for the location and the price and the size (3 bedroom). The verification process AFTER booking must be done within 72 hrs or you lose the reservation and it does make you feel like a criminal and has Lots of steps to complete as well a the required formal checkout sheet online.

We stayed for a weekend with out kids, had a great time. Awesome space and location. The only issue we had was the code to the door stopped working part way through out stay, they helped us with that and resolved it. The other thing that was frustrating was that we went through airbnb but then the management company sent us their own contract and system to sign which seemed excessive and annoying/redundant to do. That alone would cause me to think twice about booking this again. Otherwise it was a great stay!

The condo itself is nice and in a good location. That said, I cannot recommend this place to others. A few significant things went wrong during our stay, most notably the fireplace didn't work. I wouldn’t have booked a unit without a fireplace for a ski trip. We alerted them right away – they gave strange advice about leaving the switch on for 30 min and then toggling it off/on. When we said that didn't work, they never sent anyone to look at it. I do of course understand that these things happen and maybe a technician was difficult to find. Key amenities were also unavailable. We weren’t upset, but thought a little courtesy for the inconvenience would have been nice. When we communicated with the hosts about this, they were extremely condescending and refused. I use Airbnb often, and have never been talked to like that; this is the first place I can't in good conscience recommend

They make you go to at third party website and sign additional terms and conditions, demand additional information about each guest, try to sell you insurance, and tell you they won't let you check in unless you comply. All while advertising as 'instant book' on Airbnb. The booking process and requests to communicate outside of Airbnb felt intrusive and excessively complicated. Not sure why Airbnb allows this. My expectation on the platform is that 'instant book' does not require additional steps, especially when the booking is non-refundable. Nothing like starting a trip with the threat of not being allowed inside the place you just paid for. The apartment was clean and we enjoyed our stay. They had most everything you would want in a vacation rental, except for shampoo / conditioner. If you ask questions they just refer you to their own website. Then they try to get you to book directly with them in the future.

Overall we had a positive experience here. Upon arrival we immediately noted a small issue in a lack of soap in one of the bathrooms. They claimed they brought some, but we never found it and I suspect the service company they used just told them they brought it. We ended up buying some soap. Day after arrival we realized there was an issue with the heating in the unit (it would stay too warm and controls didn't do anything to change the actual temp). It took two days to get the property manager out to look at it. They messed with it, but nothing changed. The unit stayed at 77-78 degrees for the rest of our stay, which for us was just a little too warm. We cracked open some windows and made the best of it, but for the cost of the unit, you'd expect this to be in order. Otherwise, the unit is well appointed -- very comfortable and clean. Full of cooking utensils and pots and pans, more refrigerators than you could possibly fill. I would recommend.

The unit is very nice and we enjoyed staying there. However, the check in process was very confusing and cumbersome as you had to go to a different building to find a lock box for a key to then get into the correct building. The instructions were not clear at all as the buildings have similar names. Not the way one wants to begin a vacation. Also, we rented the unit during the winter olympics and we unable to get tv stations on the main tv, even though it was possible in one of the bedrooms. We asked for assistance but never received it.

The home was perfect for our large family. The scenery was stunning. Some of the rules for this home were a little over the top. We had an issue with the parking situation where we blocked the garage one evening. I woke up to a warning message, however that night the groundskeeper had blocked the garage and driveway. Other that these things, it was lovely.

The house itself was nice—great location right by the bus stop, clean accommodations, and a good hot tub. Unfortunately, the experience with the property manager, Mountain Vacation Lodging, made the stay much more difficult than it needed to be. At the time of booking, I had to complete an excessively long contract that took about 20 minutes to get through. Then at check-in, I never received the entry code. I called the after-hours number and ended up standing outside in the freezing cold for nearly an hour, with children waiting in the car, until they were finally able to provide the owner’s code for the physical key. I was told someone would stop by the next day to fix the issue, but no one ever came. We also never received a key for the hot tub, which was disappointing since it was one of the amenities we were looking forward to using. Additionally, the bench at the dining table felt very unstable, like it could break at any time.
