Manager Review

Cascade Vacation Rentals

Cascade Vacation Rentals's guest rating of 4.77 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

This beautiful cabin is in walkable distance of Grand Marais and was our homebase for a wonderful Northern weekend get away! We felt right at home in this cozy space. It was such a blessing to be able to bring our dog with us so we could all go on some great hikes. 10/10 would return again!

The view is amazing, the house was a little small for the group we had (6 adults and 3 children) but we fit and had a great time! The fridge is pretty small but we had a big group.

This was a beautiful spot. Highly recommend for a peaceful and nature-focused getaway. Minor complaint---hair in shower and a little grit still on floor.

I was aware of the location and that's why I booked the place. Its been few years since we went up there. Accommodation was good and clean. View was great from the windows but few issues. No Extra bedding was provided for the number of guests. Lots of mosquitoes when we entered. If they spray it before guests arrive that would have helped. We planned that we will eat dinners at the main cabin that we have visited few times in the past years but was not informed that it was burned down (that was a big disappointment) . Every entry way to the water and beach was closed. Grills were outside a different building. We felt lonely in a resort as we were the only ones. Again inside the house was good, view was great, parking was good, it was clean, extra towels were there but info about the current situation of the resort should have been communicated. Not everyone looks at the news and we were there because of good memories but instead was heart broken to see a closed resort .

Great location, clean and cozy cabin. Please note: The host (Cascade Vacation Rentals, as an agent for the cabin's owner) will send an additional seven-page rental agreement outlining policies and fees for cleaning, lockout, smoking, maintenance, etc.–– There are a few paragraphs about this contract on airbnb's listing, hidden deep in the "Additional Rules" section. The contract itself however includes many more policies/fees/instructions than the ones listed in the Additional Rules. FWIW, According to Airbnb's help page, "Hosts must be clear about contracts before you book. The host must prominently disclose the actual terms in their listing description. If you have questions about the contract, you can discuss it with the host. YOU'RE NOT OBLIGED TO SIGN ANYTHING." I didn't sign anything and had a lovely stay, though also note that at the end of your stay, trash has to be taken north 5min up Gunflint Trail, and recycling has to be separated and taken south to their office in Lutsen.

Although I love the cabins Cascade manages (we have stayed at 2 now) I really feel not only treated like a child in terms of threatening continuous messages of what I must and must not do (once before and a list in the cabin should be plenty), but incredibly frustrated by their “we are only available during business hours” and as if it’s my fault “there is only one staff on call after hours so YOU need to wait and YOU need to be patient.” Fine, but it’s Northern MN, freezing in the winter, pitch black at 4:30 pm and to top it off you gave instructions for a lock box on a “post”, which ended up have nothing to do with getting in to the place and did not open at all. Of course no one to help us, but fortunately my husband saw the actual inner door to the cabin had a key pad on it and tried that - this worked. Leave OUT the lock box info!!! Also be a lot more clear on where to leave the garbage and don’t threaten huge fees for every little thing.
