Manager Review

Bluebird Suites

Bluebird Suites's guest rating of 4.52 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

Our family arrived a few hours before check in and was able to leave bags with concierge while we explored for a bit. Once entering the apartment there was a noticeable smell that eventually faded after an hour or so. During our stay we utilized the kitchen, cooking breakfast and making sandwiches. There’s a small grocery store with about 15 min walk. The biggest issue I found was with the main bedroom with the queen bed. It was extremely uncomfortable sleeping with two people. The bed itself bounces all around and if one person moves slightly everyone moves. Did not sleep well during our stay due to that. As for the kitchen We found out that if someone is in the main bathroom while the other person is utilizing the kitchen, using plugs, cooking the main bathroom light will flicker and turn on and off on its own. The hair dryer had also been yanked off the wall and hadn’t been placed back which made drying my hair comical. Overall I would give this Airbnb a 3 out of 5.

Overall, the stay was good and the building amenities were a big plus. The conference room access made it easy to work remotely, and the internet was reliable and fast. That said, for a place advertised as luxurious, the apartment itself felt more average than luxury. One issue was the essentials provided (soap, shampoo, detergent, etc.) were only enough for a day or two. When we initially asked for more, we were told to purchase our own, though management later made a one-time exception after we pushed back. Also worth noting parking is not included , they offer it for $15/day, but there is metro parking across the street for about $5/day. Overall, it’s a good place, but for the price point I think the management company, Bluebird, could be less frugal and more customer-service friendly on basic things. At times it came across as unnecessarily cheap, especially for a property marketed as luxurious living.

The place itself was fine, and the location was rather perfect. However, the communication, the directions, and the preparedness of the facility were all very disappointing. We had hoped for an early check-in, but we couldn't even get in on time because the place was not, yet, clean. The cleaning staff was very friendly, but in their haste to leave, we had to ask that the floors be cleaned, as they had not been. Most upsetting was that the listing claims there is a 24-hour concierge, but there was rarely anyone at the desk, and when there was someone at the front desk, they were very unaware of procedures for Airbnb patrons. Housecleaning told us we could get additional linens at the front desk; the concierge knew nothing of such availability. They also knew nothing about check-in, and they could give us no information regarding parking. We had to learn from other tenants how to operate the fobs, and even then they operated the doors and elevators only half the time. Exasperating.

Beautiful building, perfect location for Bethesda, walking distance to everything. I had a problem with communication as airbnb gave me a date deadline where i could get a full refund -- i was one click away from a full refund as my plans were fluid but instead I asked for a slight change which i assumed was a formality but was rejected after the cancel deadline past with an inaccurate explanation that booking was nonrefundable. Plans changed again, and i requested to extend a night -- airbnb showed me a price for that night, i submitted the request, it got rejected and sent back at a higher rate I had paid for any of my previous 7 nights. More of an effort could have been made for somebody who had spent a week there. Free coffee downstairs in the building, but only one packet in the unit, no trash bags, no laundry detergent. I work in hospitality and would prefer more of an effort and some extra touches -- will stay at a hotel next time (Bethesdan or Hyatt both great).

Great Place!!! Only problem we had was trying to get a second set of keys. We were given one set for three adults.

The apartment building and amenities were OK. Clean and convenient for getting around town. A few disappointments were the bed, which appeared to be just a full-size bed, and the bedframe made a lot of noise rolling around and getting in & out. The kitchen is not fully stocked as noted, but was fine for just cooking breakfast foods. Our biggest disappointment came with the parking situation and lack of follow through by BlueBird. I had emailed them at least 3 times before arriving requesting details for parking a rental car. With zero responses, I called them in route to the property and talked to Jeff. He sent me a link to pay for the parking voucher which I did upon arrival ($45). We had to temporarily park in a garage and pay by the hour via the Mobile Park app. With no results from Jeff, I called the next day and spoke to Alejandro who showed the payment received and would coordinate a drop off of the parking voucher/pass. It never happened our entire stay!

Toilet clogged, guy came to fix it and left poop all over the floor. Called in and the lady on the phone charged us for parking that we didn't need. Texted to ask for a refund and they didn't offer any sort of help

The property itself is very nice—modern, clean-looking, and well put together. However, when we arrived, there was an odd odor, almost as if it had been cleaned with a dirty towel. It wasn’t a major issue and aired out fairly easily, but it was noticeable upon entry. The main issue was the lack of basic accommodations. There were only two towels provided for three adults, and there was no bedding for the sofa bed—only pillows. Around 6:00 PM, I sent a message to the host after they had reached out asking how check-in was going. I responded with my concerns about the missing towels and bedding, but received no reply. I had an event that evening and didn’t return until after 11:00 PM. At that point, there were still no additional items provided and no response from the host. I contacted Airbnb, and they were also unable to reach the host. As a result, Airbnb authorized me to leave and book a hotel under AirCover.

We were given the wrong keys to the property, and after about 30 minutes of digging around, the girl at the front desk found a key that worked. Once we stepped into the property, we were shocked at the extremely poor condition that the property was in. I reached out the Bluebird Suits for help, but they completely ignored me. The front door lock was missing a screw, so it would fall out when the door was opened. All the walls were scared up with marks and damage. There was a flood at some point in the unit, so the wood floors were coming up in the kitchen, family room, and hallway. Caulk was peeling up at the base of the tile and bathtub, with mold growing all around the tub area. Most of the electrical plates had paint on them from poor paint touchups. Entryway lights were full of bugs; one did not work. EXTREAMLEY loud 24/7 within the unit because of constant police activity, and crowds out on the sidewalks of the property. I WOULD NEVER use Bluebird, or stay at this property again.
