“I have never written a bad review on AirBnB...until now. Hardly clean upon arrival, sticky/stained/duct tape carpets/walls, bad smell including reeking bed linens. The 1st lamp turned on immediately broke in pieces. 2nd night there, sink drain disintegrated. All things we could live with, until the smell of gas in the kitchen. Host slow in responding and said to "leave windows open." Since it's a safety concern, we continued to push it. Less than a week in, got back to the unit to find the fire dept ready to break down the door. Someone (we weren't notified who) had called and left the scene-irresponsible. Only to find the gas pipe to the stove had THREE leaks, puddle of gas. We had to deal with authorities ourselves as host never once appeared. No apology from host-instead, they kept asking us to be onsite for more maintenance and safety check visits at THEIR property. Clearly the hosts are using this site to make an easy buck, too lazy to even be landlords/take care of own property.”

“I rented this airbnb with intentions on staying for 44 days due to an opportunity I had at UVA. I only lasted 12 days here. From the very first day things were horrible. Be aware this unit is not the front portion of the house. You will be in a small unit on the side which is very dirty. I arrived with broken blinds in the bedroom and bathroom (both areas revealing outdoors) this made me feel very uncomfortable living alone. Also the smell when I first entered was horrible. Later I found mold located on the ceiling and disgusting soiled dog beds located in a storage area which also revealed mold. I ended up getting sick living in this place and soon as I moved out instantly felt better. I could not sleep the first week due to the loud noises the AC unit made; a week after it being replaced the new AC unit caused power outages. No one was helpful in terms of compensation for me. The shower was clogged week 1, small bugs inside, just horrible and not functional. Mold needs to go ASAP!!”
