“I will preface this by saying the views are amazing and the home is beautiful. No complaints about the amenities, cleanliness and access. For my family’s purposes we thought this was a lakefront property, but it really isn’t. The walk down to the water and back up is very rough. The drop off down to the bank by the water is dangerous and climbing back up is too. The dock was also pushed up onto shore and not in the water at all. I’m disappointed I didn’t get to enjoy the water as much as I’d like. If you don’t care about going down to the water, it’s a great property. My family and I felt this property listing is misleading.”

“We really enjoyed our stay. Just as advertised for rooms and amenities! Comfy pillows. Took 1 star off for cleanliness because there was dead wasps in the home on the windowsills and floors. Otherwise everything was clean and tidy! Loved the hot tub and pool table area and the fact that our dog could come. Would stay again!”

“Smoky Lake Retreat is a lovely, modern log cabin with spectacular views of Douglas Lake behind the house and the Smoky Mountains in front of the house (viewable from the kitchen window). There is plenty of deck space for guests to spread out and find a quiet place to read and relax. Except for the neighbor who has a rooster who crows all day, it was very quiet and peaceful. The sunsets over Douglas Lake were spectacular. Boat traffic on the lake was not too heavy, so we were able to kayak. Some things to keep in mind: * The spiral staircases are not great for very young children, elderly and pets. Our dogs would not go up and down the staircases. * The paved path going down to the lake is VERY steep. It is much easier walking down than back up. We were able to get our kayaks down and backup. Bring ATV. * The only places for dogs to potty are along the sides of the road; no grassy area. * The decks are not safe for very young children; horizontal slats on railing are flexible.”
