Sunset Rentals reviews in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

“We enjoyed the condo and our vacation. Nice area close to pool and beach. However, a few surprises dealing with them. 1st there is a $35 charge for a second parking pass. Second they want to bill me for some small damage that we didn’t do. These issues make me very leary of using Sunset or Airbnb again.”

“Upon arrival, the rental was dirty, uncleaned, and moldy. The bedroom ceilings also had cracks, and the flakes would fall down. We spent half a day cleaning the rental. A couple days later, landscapers arrived, which we were not informed about, who used our outdoor amenities and left trash. Lastly, the water was shut down due to an emergency repair, which is not the rental company’s fault, however only upon being on the phone for hours were we offered another unit to wash off (and we were not offered to be moved there for the rest of our stay, and we had to ask to stay there for the night). No one called to check up on us, even though I informed them that my elderly grandma was staying with us, and we were not offered simple concessions like free water bottles. Furthermore, everyone that we spoke to was rude and unaccommodating. My family has been coming to HHI for over 15 years and never had an experience like this; moral of the story is to rent through Sea Pines only.”

“It was a beautiful stay, but we had accidentally left a curling iron and blow dryer and haven’t heard anything back from anyone they said they’d call us when they found it, and I told them where it should be and we know we left them there on accident but I’m assuming the house keepers or someone took them because we haven’t heard anything so not super happy about that. Yes leaving it was our fault but I was hoping that there would be some integrity and they would be able to get our stuff back to us.”

“Would not rebook. Place has too many rules and restrictions, and confusing communication with rental. This feels more like easy money for the rental property, less host friendly and more business transaction like, more than anything. The place needs a ton of work, and was filthy (blood stains in bathroom, uncleaned shower, loads of dust, linens were embedded with pet hair and stains, and patio had toenail clippings from past tennants). Toiletries and amenities are cheap and had to purchase own hand soap for common areas such as kitchen and bathrooms. . Too keep it short”

“The location was good, as it was close to the Sea Pines Resort, near many restaurants, shopping, and groceries were all 5 minutes away. There is a beach access a 15 minute walk away, which was nice. And allowing our dogs to stay was a great memory. That being said, the cleanliness of the property was very disappointing. Kitchen surfaces, dining and living area surfaces and bathrooms needed to be cleaned again upon arrival. The property management sent cleaners, but we had to readjust day plans due to this, which was inconvenient. All in all, the cleanliness was a big stain on the vacation.”
