We have been coming to Oak Island for over 15 years and staying in beach houses similar to Stingray. This one, however, was not an enjoyable or comfortable stay. The two bedrooms on the lower floor reek of musty odor, and the whole house feels damp even with the AC going at all times. It's obvious that this is a known problem because each room has air fresheners plugged into the walls, and there are Damp Rid containers in the house. The floor in one of the bedrooms has a large soft spot and a hole in the vinyl tile, which I suspect is due to water/mold damage. When bringing this to the attention of Salt and Sand, we were gaslit by the staff who wrote, "As an older Coastal home, the property may have some of the natural characteristics common to Beach cottages including a slight Coastal or aged home scent." Additionally, the seating in the living room, including the couch and chairs, is extremely uncomfortable and the kitchen cabinet height makes it hard to reach items.

We enjoyed our stay and how close it was to the beach. We would stay here again.

Really enjoyed our little vaca at this place. It was beautiful and just the right amount of space. Aldo not too far from the beach. Will definitely have to stay here again.

Our flight was early in the day. I have never rented an Airbnb that did not allow any sort of early check in. As a matter of fact the cleaners were still cleaning until after the check in time at 4. The cleaning lady graciously let us put our groceries away while we waited for her to finish. The couches and rug in the living room were dirty/stained. We used extra sheets to cover them during our visit. The bathroom sink stopper was broken. The best thing about this place was the location. There were no beach chairs or even beach towels that we could use. This property is for the folks that drive there and bring your own. Overall it wasn’t a bad experience but it wasn’t the best Airbnb I’ve ever experienced.
