Salt & Sand Realty's guest rating of 4.73 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“The house was great! We were two families of 5. The house was as pictured. Well stocked with games for lots of ages. The ocean is a quick walk from the beach; the house is close to the beach access. Such a great stay!”airbnb

“We had a great stay! The place is decorated beautifully and the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. We recommend renting a golf cart to get around on the island. Our dogs joining us was definitely a plus as well. We would definitely stay again!”airbnb

“The location was wonderful, it was very peaceful basically had the beach to ourselves!!! The only thing I would have recommended was a better cleaning in between guests. I gave feed back to salt and sand during our visit. Other than that it was a perfect vacation!”airbnb

“Nice location and amenities like pool & beach access. Condo is laid out nicely and enough space for a family. Booking & check-in were smooth. Unfortunately, we had to leave the property early due to poorly managed issues (escalated through Airbnb Support). The kitchen had an active cockroach infestation that professional pest treatment did not properly resolve. We’ve stayed in the same area for several years- never had these issues with other rentals. Had to find another place to stay on short notice during peak season, which was very disruptive to our trip & incurred additional cost for us—we were refunded for unstayed nights but not for the other impacts. The property company staff was friendly and polite but slow to respond and inattentive to the seriousness of the situation. They never truly addressed our concerns and continued to send automated daily & nightly texts after we had to leave and asked to be removed from communications.”airbnb

“Wouldn’t stay here again. Overall the unit is serviceable but we’ve rented in these condos before and I’d STRONGLY encourage you to rent directly from an owner. On night one we notified them that the washer and dryer were not working at all. Would not even turn on. I’ll spare details but seven nights later and they were still not working whatsoever. I called to ask about parking passes after someone took our singular designated spot beneath the unit while we were out. I was all but laughed at by the teen on the phone and simply told to “park elsewhere” despite there being signs about towing throughout the whole lot. We noticed mold and cockroaches throughout. No hose to properly rinse off outside of the unit after being on the beach all day. Nothing says “we hope you enjoyed your stay” like cleaners standing outside the condo at 850AM, 70 mins before checkout. Nothing egregious, but nothing worth spending your money on. To be fair, the unit has a decent view and kitchen is stocked.”airbnb

“It was a good spot for our family to use as a home base on Oak Island for four weeks this summer. The bedrooms were well appointed and comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Parts of the outside space downstairs and living room had some wear and tear to it when we checked in, but it was fine.”airbnb

“The house is lovely and very clean. It has everything we needed for our stay. We were very comfortable and happy there. However, I will not book this place again next summer for only 1 reason. The backyard was full with dog poop. It took me 30 minutes in the broiling heat to pick it all up. We brought our small dog with us, but I could not let him out in the backyard until I cleaned it up. I watched my dog every time he was in the backyard and picked up his poops immediately. This is of no fault to the owners. This was the previous renter’s disregard and disrespect to the property. Besides being disgusting, it also posed a health hazard, and I was given the job of cleaning up after their dog as soon as I arrived on the property.”airbnb

“We have been coming to Oak Island for over 15 years and staying in beach houses similar to Stingray. This one, however, was not an enjoyable or comfortable stay. The two bedrooms on the lower floor reek of musty odor, and the whole house feels damp even with the AC going at all times. It's obvious that this is a known problem because each room has air fresheners plugged into the walls, and there are Damp Rid containers in the house. The floor in one of the bedrooms has a large soft spot and a hole in the vinyl tile, which I suspect is due to water/mold damage. When bringing this to the attention of Salt and Sand, we were gaslit by the staff who wrote, "As an older Coastal home, the property may have some of the natural characteristics common to Beach cottages including a slight Coastal or aged home scent." Additionally, the seating in the living room, including the couch and chairs, is extremely uncomfortable and the kitchen cabinet height makes it hard to reach items.”airbnb
