“We had a great vacation and that’s the most important thing. The beach was an easy walk from the house and we enjoyed our time. We all came to the same conclusion that this rental was not worth what I paid. The Outer Banks is the most expensive area I rent and they commonly provide the least. It’s always the bare minimum for everything from toilet paper and paper towels to dish soap and trash bags. When I had to ask for trash bags because none were left for us, we were told we should buy our own since we are staying for 7 days. I rent other properties for a fraction of the price and they don’t nickel and dime such things. At the price tag of $900+/day during the off-season, when us renters are financing everything from utilities and property taxes to renovations and remodeling costs, I don’t want to haggle over household essentials. We didn’t expect to share bathrooms, which my mother did not enjoy. Siding was beating against my exterior wall when I was trying to sleep. Out of room…”
