Let me start by saying I have grown up on the water. My parents and grandparents both, had cottages on lakes, when I was growing up and I have spent many years camping and being on the lakes. This property was grossly misrepresented. It is not a house nor a cottage. It was a cabin. I have no problem with a cabin but had I read that it was a cabin, we would not have rented. I am attaching more pictures to support our issues and complaints. Smaller issues: 1. The house was difficult to find as it does not show up on Google or Apple Maps. Additionally, there is NO address number at the top of the driveway! 2. The water dispenser started leaking the second we turned it on. 3. I have no issues with "rustic" and "charming" but this property was neither. Perhaps it was 50 years ago, but the furniture inside and out were obviously purchased in the 1980's and had not been updated or replaced since then. The photos on Airbnb were NOT recent photos and misrepresented the state of the prope

It’s an older house with antique furniture but had an amazing, peaceful setting. Heads up: There are some outside bugs that find their way in (spiders, stink bugs, flies, water bugs) but I’m guessing that’s typical for being on the lake.

First of all gardener came at 4 pm which was our check in time and wouldn't move his truck for us to get in, we couldn't get access until about 6pm. Second the foul sulfur smelling well water permeated everything from dishes to food to showers. Awful stench and dangerous to me as I'm a senior with health problems. Third, another family cam late at night with two families and a carload of kids that went screaming around the shared property...too much noise. Vacasa folks offered no solutions such as bottled water to use or "we'll get the gardener out right away as he shouldn't be there at check in time." I would never have us do this again, it was in the end not he peaceful quiet retreat we needed so badly and turned out to be just the opposite.

The house is beautiful, spacious, well-equipped, sunny. It is quite remote (a 15 minute drive to Penn Yan's groceries and restaurants, also 15 minutes to wineries like Ravines) but in return you get a lovely, quiet hilltop location with lots of outdoor space and a view down Keuka Lake. We would happily come back, and in fact are thinking about doing so with friends for NYE.... The one area where things fell short was pre-arrival communication, in particular when I had difficulties accessing the online forms that AirBnB sent and that we were required to fill in. Despite my sending several messages via AirBnB over the space of two weeks, no one ever sent a new link.
