We stayed here for a wedding in the area and it was the perfect spot! The house has so much character, was very clean, and had plenty of space for our group. The surrounding area was phenomenal! We were able to walk to and from the beach, and the beach gear provided was a huge bonus. The location felt peaceful while still being close to everything we needed. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area

Fantastic location walkable to downtown Gloucester and Half Moon Beach, with gorgeous views of the harbor. A few notes I wished we knew: One of the two bathrooms only has a tub, not a shower, and is in the 3rd floor master (with no door) which was concerning for our large group of adults but we made it work. The AC was great on the 1st floor, but did not work on the 2nd or 3rd. Overall, it worked for a quick wedding weekend and I’d stay again for a similar trip.

Very nice unit with the need for a little TLC, but the reason you rent this unit is for the experience of being smack dab in the heart of Main St with two walls of windows. My fiancé and I plan on staying again!

This property is even more breathtaking than the photos, if you can believe it. The homeowner was kind enough to allow us to see other portions of the property, and it is incredible. Parking was extremely easy, and this is a short drive or long walk to downtown Gloucester. This is a historic and old property. It is beautiful and well-maintained, but I think that guests who book this property should temper their expectations as such. For example, the single pane, antique glass windows are beautiful but there was significant water intrusion above our bed during a storm that wet the pillows and sheets. We also observed the tap water to be stained. We didn't know if this was benign or not, so we opted to only drink bottled water during our stay. Even with the heat on, we were not able to get the downstairs temperature above 58F during the storm (upstairs was comfortable). Considering the high price, I have rated the property four stars. I still think it is a very special place to stay.

This is a terrific spot; mature plantings, hammock, a view that can't be beat, plus a granite dog house that would accommodate a small pony. The location is extraordinary as is the history of the original owner with his inventions having direct links to current world events. Though we ate out except for breakfast, we found the kitchen to be outfitted with everything we needed. Lots of spices and other stuff too. The Keurig coffee pods were a generous amenity. Can't beat a fresh morning coffee outside looking over at Ten Pound Island Lighthouse.
