“This is a fantastic house to get away from crowds yet close enough to get to the coastal attractions. Many of our drives to the places we wanted to see was a 1.5 hour drive which we expected and was worth the peaceful location. We enjoyed the outdoor spaces especially watching stunning sunsets from the coastline. The house was more than spacious enough for our group that consisted of 3 adult couples. The house was stocked with more items such as soap than advertised. However we did need to replenish some paper products which was something that was noted in the description. All necessities were available and much more.”

“This was our first time to Maine and we’re so thankful we chose this place. It truly looked liked a postcard. Love the deck overlooking the water. The view is breathtaking, Stonington is a quaint little town with a wonderful coffee shop, a couple restaurants and lovely people. We loved that this was a central location to Bar Harbor, Acadia, Camden and to the airport in Banger.”

“As soon as we walked into West Cottage we were overwhelmed by the simple beauty of everything around us. The light and airy whitewashed interior displayed the charm of Down East Main coastal charm and cabin construction architecture. Looking out the bank of windows the quaint buildings, working harbor filled with all sorts of boats, and rugged granite outcrops delight the eye. It is a very short walk to the Operahouse where an unbelievable array of entertainment is offered, and just beyond lie delightful shops and restaurants. If you are here on Fridays don't miss the farmer's market. Local produce,cheeses, baked goods, and contact points for local entities of interest like the library and preservation groups enrich the experience of Stonington. Many fascinating little villages make for great day trips on Deer Isle and beyond. Checking out the small towns always provides exciting discoveries, for example the Maine Maritme Academy in Castine.
