“As soon as we walked into West Cottage we were overwhelmed by the simple beauty of everything around us. The light and airy whitewashed interior displayed the charm of Down East Main coastal charm and cabin construction architecture. Looking out the bank of windows the quaint buildings, working harbor filled with all sorts of boats, and rugged granite outcrops delight the eye. It is a very short walk to the Operahouse where an unbelievable array of entertainment is offered, and just beyond lie delightful shops and restaurants. If you are here on Fridays don't miss the farmer's market. Local produce,cheeses, baked goods, and contact points for local entities of interest like the library and preservation groups enrich the experience of Stonington. Many fascinating little villages make for great day trips on Deer Isle and beyond. Checking out the small towns always provides exciting discoveries, for example the Maine Maritme Academy in Castine. Enjoy and explore! Stay at least a week”

“Our stay at the Pretty Penny was very nice and relaxing. The Pretty Penny was clean and cozy and had everything we needed. It is on the hill overlooking the Stonington Harbor and was just a short walk into town with cute shops and tasty restaurants. It is also a short drive from Sand Beach, local hikes and the Burnt Cove market. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and looking out at the partial ocean view and we would have loved more of a view. We couldn't find the Roku tv device so we weren't able to watch tv other than DVDs while there, but that just meant we spent some more time reading books. Overall a very nice, clean, and convenient place to stay!”
