Tides to Pines in Georgetown, Maine

“This is a beautiful house in a beautiful location. You have 2 private bedrooms and a loft which is open to the communal great room. Two beds in all these spaces. There is also a screened in porch and wrap around deck facing the water. It does feel like you are in someone else’s house, as there are personal belongings here and there. The kitchen is great except it is chaotically organized. Very few pots and pans to choose from. Nothing non stick so bring your own. Lots of lids with no matching pots. Junk drawers. Real coffee maker (not Keurig) a bonus for us. Cozy touches are everywhere and easy to feel at home and relax. Beautiful 180 water views. Steep walk to the bottom floating dock. Only one bedroom has AC, too loud if it’s actually cooling. A few old standing fans around. Difficult to swim. No easy kayak launch but doable. Do NOT forget the deet unless you plan to spend the whole time inside. We loved our stay all in all! Bugs were biggest issue.”

“A treat for nature lovers. We watched heron, osprey, terns and a bald eagle diving for fish on Robinhood Cove and crabs dart about at low tide. We explored the cove in rented kayaks. So peaceful - may it remain so! Be sure to check out Periwinkle Pie Co at the end of the road - pre-ordered blueberry pie was to die for. The house is wonderful and as pictured - the many windows let in the sparkling light off the water, high ceilings, comfy beds. We are thankful to the owners for sharing.”

“Gorgeous location. Extremely quiet and peaceful. Spacious and sunlit great room. Comfortable daybed. Cool outdoor spaces. Pillows could have been thicker. Host was very responsive and accommodating.”

“We stayed here for a weekend in July, which happened to coincide with a heat wave. There is no AC, which we thought would be fine because the night temps were low (in the high 60s and low 70s). The house did not cool down at night, even with all the windows open and fans on. The thermostat read 87 at 2am. We had to sleep in the basement, where temps were closer to 75. This place is unsafe for heat-sensitive populations. If you’re planning to stay here during the summer months, I’d recommend against it. Otherwise, aside from the normal Airbnb-isms (dirty dishes, a lack of cleaning beyond immediately visible surfaces), it’s a reasonable property with typical limitations of island Maine (well water meaning low water pressure and you should bring your own drinking water); it’s close to town, and on a quiet road. We wouldn’t stay again in the summer, but in the fall or spring it would probably be a fine experience!”
