Vacasa in Camden, Maine

“I am writing this as a local. We stayed for two weeks while our home was being repaired. This is not “ocean front,” but there is a lovely view of the head of Camden harbor with schooners and lobster boats. The first-floor unit we occupied does not have a “deck”, but there are two chairs on the lawn out front. Our dog enjoyed that Harbor Park is across the street, and Camden provides a kiosk with dog clean-up bags. The house is on a one-way street leading from downtown Camden to the other side of the harbor, where there is a boatyard and restaurants, so traffic can be constant. You can walk to everything in Camden- restaurants, shops, a small grocery store, and Walgreens. Carry your own shopping bag. The unit was very comfortable. Bathrooms had large walk-in showers and plenty of towels. The only place to work with a computer is the dining room table. Another table/desk in the living room would be a good addition.”

“This home was cold and furnishing sparse and cheap! We had our 18month old in a bedroom which would not heat, we callled - VERY impersonal management/talked to three seperate people - advice to fix the problem "we suggest moving the child to a warmer room". It was winter and 20 out! I have been an AirBnB renter and rented our home since it began, rented literally all over the world and this is by far the worst rental we have ever stayed in! There were no quilts or bedding for beds even though it was winter, the claw bathtub is "charming" but it also is the shower upstairs for all of the bedroom with a metal shower ring that is bent and cheap!!! It felt like a flop house or a frat house! The it is a beautiful home, it is too bad it is so badly furnished and the management is so impersonal and not helpful at all. Do NOT recommend if there are other options in the area? Aslo driveway light on all night with no blinds!”

“The home was clean, well-stocked, and in a great location, but several issues affected our stay. When we arrived, the house was 50° inside and didn’t warm up until around 8pm. We were wearing coats indoors, and our 85-year-old uncle was extremely uncomfortable. Even the dishes in the cabinets were ice cold. We had requested early check-in and were denied without explanation, though it was clear no one had been there beforehand. The oven cooked very unevenly, burning our food, and we ultimately had to cook our Thanksgiving turkey on the BBQ. The steps to the house were icy, creating an unsafe and unwelcoming entrance. I have pictures While the property itself is lovely, these issues made our first night very difficult and set a disappointing tone for the stay. A refund for at least the first night is warranted given the conditions.”
