“Clean and good location to visit speedway”

“Really appreciated how well stocked everything was. Plenty of toliet paper, towels, and an easy to use laundry room. There were also extra mattresses in the stairway closet, which was fantastic considering how many guests we had. Everyone was comfortable and had a pleasant stay.”

“We were very dissatisfied with our stay, although the host did make an effort to address some of the issues after a significant amount of back-and-forth communication. When we arrived, the yard looked like it hadn’t been maintained in weeks. Large weeds had grown over the sidewalk, and the exterior of the house did not match the listing photos. There was also an abandoned house with boarded-up windows directly across the street. We were traveling as a group of 6 women and did not feel safe in the neighborhood. The interior of the home was generally clean, but one of the extra blankets for the downstairs couch had clearly not been washed and had a large, crusty stain on it. We also found sheets left in the dryer from housekeeping, and there were no kitchen towels or hot pads provided. Aside from those issues, the kitchen was well stocked. The listing shows a dishwasher, but it was not connected and could not be used. The upstairs shower only had lukewarm water, so all six of us ende”

“We stayed at Rookwood Retreat for two nights and rented both sides of the duplex for our family. The biggest positives were that the property has been nicely updated inside, was clean, and had plenty of space for a larger group. Having both units worked out well for us. That said, the home felt very bare bones and seemed like a property the owners don’t personally spend time in. There were quite a few deferred maintenance items that took away from the overall experience. We found cabinets coming off the hinges, a laundry room accordion door that came off when opened, broken cleaner closet locks, a broken skillet handle, a basement TV that couldn’t be plugged in because the cord was too short, a missing light switch knob, and an upstairs ice maker that wasn’t working. The kitchen was also sparsely stocked with only a few water cups and fewer utensils than expected for a property that accommodates larger groups. Overall, the property has great potential!”
