“This is such a beautiful custom home with tons of character. It has a very Japanese and Hawaiian feel which we loved. It’s a huge home on an even bigger gated property which is a huge luxury in Hawaii. The sound of the waves when sleeping at night was amazing. The management company, Gather, was great and very responsive. There are some cons with this place that other guests should consider. The location is pretty bad, do some research into the town of Waianae before booking. May not be a deal breaker, but the immediate surrounding area is definitely rough around the edges. They have a pretty bad homeless problem, however the entire property has a large fence all around it which helps mitigate the feel of the surrounding area. Also, while the house has all the necessary furnishings and supplies to make for a comfortable stay, it is very bare bones in terms of furniture and decor. The house was generally fairly clean, but there is a lot of deferred maintenance.”
