Overall a fun place to stay. We had some issues with cleanliness…tissues and trash left under beds and couches, dirty rugs, a roll of trash bags left on the front steps, some blankets were noticeably left unwashed, the coffee pot was unusable with stuff caked on the inside. I received a message I would have a later check in so it seemed like they may have been in a hurry and cut some corners. We weren’t there but a few nights so we managed ok. The game room and hot tub made the trip though! Our crew of 5 made spent hours laughing and playing! Great way to ring in the new year!

This property should not be rented in its current condition. The overpowering musty smell hit us the moment we walked in, and it was nearly unbearable. The deck boards are rotting and soft underfoot, the dishwasher doesn’t close, and wood trim is literally falling apart, rust stains in the sink, kitchen and bathtub among other things. While the property management team was responsive, I spent most of my vacation on the phone or texting trying to get a refund. We ended up leaving for the entire day just to get away from it. During our stay they brought a humidifier to address the smell but left the used filter on the floor—and sprayed a bunch of Febreze to try to cover the smell, which only made it worse. It was one thing after another, and no amount of responsiveness can make up for a property this poorly maintained. Do not stay here. It should be taken off the rental market until it’s fully repaired and cleaned.

I spent 4th of July with my family, it was an amazing expierence. The place was very clean with very good communities. So many things all around to do and we felt safe at all times. I would recommend this too anyone trying to have a great weekend getaway. Thank you for the stay!

First I will say our booking was last minute but I texted with questions *first* so it wasn’t a surprise. I booked before 2 and message to start the process to get access to the gate. I messaged several but when we arrived at 5 we still didn’t have gate access. We waited at the gate over 30 minutes and only got in because the helpful Big Canoe staff at the gate had the local contact for Vacasa- we were still on hold. On arrival, the place had a musty smell- mentioned in a previous review but resolved according the Vacasa, I messaged about this concern before booking. I had to clean the (squishy 80s style) toilet seat to use it- MOLD. The tub was stained and also covered in a slimy, pink, mucousy mold. The second toilet was moldy. Vacasa offered to send cleaners, but at this point it was 6. We have small children and waited 30 min already at the gate, how long would cleaners take? They then asked US to cancel on Airbnb. Thankfully Airbnb rebooked us a place without health hazards.

The location of the property itself is quiet and peaceful, even though there are several other properties in the area. The cabin is cozy, well stocked with kitchen utensils and linen, and comfortable. The pre-check involves completing a short document for the community HOA and submitting it before your check-in date. Call the customer service number given BEFORE you arrive to ensure your name is at the security gate (upon arrival, I had to wait 30 minutes for my name to be given to the on-site staff in order to be let onto the property.) Try to arrive before sundown so you can see where you’re going and to better find the cabin (it’s VERY dark on the roads, even with high beams). The cabin had a weird smell (kind of musty I’d say), and could use a refresh or air diffusers; as well as some upgrades to furniture and the structure itself (very dated). The hosting team was very responsive and helpful when I contacted them. If you’re on a budget, go for it with the above in mind.
