“This is a good option in DC but by no means did it blow me away. To start, as soon as we walked into the apartment it had a noticeably musty smell. Basement apartments are common in DC so they should have this issue worked out. Additionally, the apartment hosts up to 4 people but the full size bed is incredibly uncomfortable. Not only is it small for two people, but the mattress itself is bad. Finally the AC had been pre-set to go 75 degrees in the middle of the night. So I woke up, sweating at 4 am and had to get out of bed to fix the thermostat. On the positives: the hosts were responsive and the apartment is clean.”

“Our host was so accommodating to the few needs we had. Unfortunately the house did smell like cats. I had read the reviews so I was looking for the scent. Out of 5 of us, it really only bothered me with a sensitive nose. The host tried to do all they could to get rid of it, but I think it’s coming from underneath the house. It’s definitely not because someone had cats in the unit. I checked with them before we booked and they said it had been taken care of. I don’t think this is going to go away. Everything else is responded to very quickly. The bathrooms were wonderful. We did choose this unit because it had two bathrooms, but the first floor shower is very finicky. The water is either too hot, there’s not much pressure, or if anyone runs water while you’re in it, expect hot or cold water extremes. The neighborhood is quiet, and the neighbors were friendly. There are a few cafés within 10 minutes walking.”

“This property has the potential to be a lovely stay, especially in historic Bloomingdale. Unfortunately, the condition and guest experience fell short of expectations. Historic charm shouldn’t mean neglected maintenance. We noticed peeling trim, deteriorating paint and wall finishes, heavily discolored grout, and dark buildup beneath the shower handles. The dryer also made an unusually loud rattling noise. Housekeeping was disappointing. We found remnants of a previous guest’s frozen food in the ice tray, which I cleaned myself. There was also an unpleasant odor near the exterior basement entrance. Check-in instructions weren’t provided until I requested them, and housekeeping was still inside after the 4 p.m. check-in time. While the location and basic amenities were convenient, the property needs more attentive maintenance, cleaning, and guest preparation. I would not book again.”

“Me and my family were visiting Washington DC and it fit almost all the necessities we needed. We were hoping the laundry machines would be working since we had some clothes to wash, but I would ask the owner if you’re wanting to know if they’re operational if you plan to do laundry. Me and my family had a nice family dinner and groceries were sent directly to the house through instacart with free shipping through this app. I enjoyed the convenience and peacefulness this place brought. It was definitely an upgrade from the hotel we were staying in for about nearly the same price. Some maintenance issues on the first day, but the host, Charlotte, communicated well and was able to get it fixed by the time we got back home. They’re very responsive if you ever need anything. My mom loved this place. She said she would come here again if she could. This place has a jacuzzi in the master bedroom and a fireplace. It would be great for a romantic getaway or a good time for parents.”

“The home itself was lovely! Clean, spacious, comfortable, and in a convenient location for exploring DC. The host was wonderful to communicate with. A few things we wish we’d known: The house sits on a busy bus route, with buses stopping outside and releasing loud air brakes day and night. One night, helicopters circled at 11 p.m. for an hour. Another night, an accident at 12:30 a.m. nearly outside our window brought sirens and a bus idling beside the bedroom. Outside the host’s control, but important to know. We also weren’t aware of another Airbnb downstairs. Music, TV, workouts and cooking odors traveled easily between units. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and pans but lacked measuring cups, spoons and adequate ovenware. With food allergies, we rely on cooking our own meals, so this was challenging. We genuinely liked the home and appreciated the host! We simply wish the listing had better prepared us for these aspects of our stay.”
