“The property is absolutely stunning and in a beautiful location, but for the price, several aspects fell short of expectations. Basic amenities were missing—a full kitchen but no salt, and a shower but no shampoo or body wash—and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. The water pressure was so low that showering was nearly impossible. The host was responsive and got it fixed, which we appreciated, but it took about a day, meaning it wasn’t resolved until the afternoon before we left. The checkout process also felt unusually involved, requiring us to strip the bed, bag the linens and towels, and take out the trash. Overall, a gorgeous place with a responsive host, but given the price, the lack of basic amenities, comfort, and the amount expected of guests left us disappointed.”

“The house is gorgeous, well stocked, wonderfully laid out for a family - our kids loved the upstairs room. All the books, games, everything about the house felt perfect. The view and location are obviously unbeatable. Little things like reading lamps by the beds, comfy blankets for the couch, the umbrellas on the deck, were so perfect. Our problem was with the management, not the house itself. We rented the house specifically because of the dock, and our love of kayaking in Maine. We even rented kayaks for the week from the place suggested two weeks before our trip by the management company. When we got to the house we found the dock was broken. The walkway to the beach is also not as convenient as described in the listing. In the end we were not able to kayak at all. We feel for the owners of the house who lost the dock in a storm -but this was never communicated to us before the trip and it was a lengthy and more hostile than necessary process to reach an agreement on a solution.”

“I paid a premium price for what I thought was a premium cottage. This was not. It fell severely short of my expectations. I'm 6ft1in tall and kept hitting my head as ceilings are sometimes only 6ft. Doorways even less. Bathroom was marginal at best. There is literally no counter space. The sink is almost unusable because the cabinet over it doesn't let you get your head over the bowl. You can't wash your face without water on the floor. The shower handle doesn't keep an even temp. The bed was comfortable but I will never rent it again.”

“I realize that as of me posting this, mine is the only non-5 star review. So, take that into consideration. But I'll explain my rating. The cabin is a lovely place for a short get-away on the water in Maine. The cabin is almost exactly as pictured in the listing. The owners have actually swapped in a newer couch than is in the photos, so it's even a little better than pictured. Its a great cabin for a couple of days. My issue is that we were there for 2 weeks. And for a 2-week stay, we were using the appliances (e.g. cooking, washing clothes and dishes). And every appliance is very outdated. The listing does not misrepresent this. It is clear in the pictures, but I didn't really take notice until we got there. I feel like we paid a lot of money for a cabin with very outdated appliances and worn bedroom carpet. I wish the owners would have updated the place. If you're not using the appliances, this place would be good. The grill was newer and very clean.”

“The house and the area are lovely. The communication was through an agency who insisted on texting outside the AirBnB platform, even after we insisted communication remain in AirBnB. The trash from the previous tenants was never picked up, even after animals threw it all over the yard. We cleaned it up and notified them, requested they take it away, but they never did. Lastly, there's construction happening nextdoor, so trucks and jackhammering during the week (not a reflection in my rating, but a heads up to any potential visitors - a little warning would've been nice).”
