“Satisfied our families needs. Everything was as described, the roof patio was great. However, I feel like it is a lot of money for what it is. I didn't like the house instructions making me feel bad about using water. Can't be the guest's fault if the water system is not efficient enough... The host seem to be a consortium of PE that buy properties in the area and turn them into rentals... Can't say that I'm a fan of that... Liked my stay at the house, not thrilled about the big picture.”

“The location, stunning & unparalleled. The deck and private beach offer heavenly views any time of day: great to read, draw, have a coffee or a glass of wine out there. The many windows (and many that open) are wonderful for the fresh, briny air and hearing the tide. Kitchen was pretty well-equipped and I recommend eating at home 1/2 nights, as it is a bit remote (part of the charm/peace)--but there is a walkable café around the corner for sandwiches. Brunswick and Topsham are just 20mins or so north and have everything you need. That said, the cleaning needs to be kicked up a notch: a lot of stray hairs on floor; sills, baseboards, screens had not been cleaned in a good while. I wiped down a bit, not a huge inconvenience. The space is comfortable for a single person or a younger/middle-aged couple for a short stay, but if you have mobility issues: be aware the photos are 'real estate' style: inside looks larger than it actually is. Shower is a stall, so it's rather tight.”

“This listing met most of our expectations. It was cute little cottage close to the water. Great views of the cove, and access to the deck in front of the main house. We met the owner briefly. He was very nice. It seems The unit is managed by a third party, who took a minimalist approach to the booking. We were expecting a washer and dryer but didn’t find one onsite (wasn’t looking in the basement.) The photos were taken several years ago judging by the fading of outdoor furniture. The cottage could use some updating, but everything worked as it should Over all expectations were met, but not exceeded.”

“The cottage was as described but I was a little disappointed with the check in. I realize that renters expect to be allowed early access if the property is ready. I texted at 3:45 for a 4pm check in and was told to wait until 4. I have to believe the cleaners were done and the cottage ready but still not given the okay. I thought this to be a bit picky.”

“The property is absolutely stunning and in a beautiful location, but for the price, several aspects fell short of expectations. Basic amenities were missing—a full kitchen but no salt, and a shower but no shampoo or body wash—and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. The water pressure was so low that showering was nearly impossible. The host was responsive and got it fixed, which we appreciated, but it took about a day, meaning it wasn’t resolved until the afternoon before we left. The checkout process also felt unusually involved, requiring us to strip the bed, bag the linens and towels, and take out the trash. Overall, a gorgeous place with a responsive host, but given the price, the lack of basic amenities, comfort, and the amount expected of guests left us disappointed.”

“The house is gorgeous, well stocked, wonderfully laid out for a family - our kids loved the upstairs room. All the books, games, everything about the house felt perfect. The view and location are obviously unbeatable. Little things like reading lamps by the beds, comfy blankets for the couch, the umbrellas on the deck, were so perfect. Our problem was with the management, not the house itself. We rented the house specifically because of the dock, and our love of kayaking in Maine. We even rented kayaks for the week from the place suggested two weeks before our trip by the management company. When we got to the house we found the dock was broken. The walkway to the beach is also not as convenient as described in the listing. In the end we were not able to kayak at all. We feel for the owners of the house who lost the dock in a storm -but this was never communicated to us before the trip and it was a lengthy and more hostile than necessary process to reach an agreement on a solution.”

“The view of the water was not as described. The house needs to be maintained. Several window could not be opened because of no screens.”

“I paid a premium price for what I thought was a premium cottage. This was not. It fell severely short of my expectations. I'm 6ft1in tall and kept hitting my head as ceilings are sometimes only 6ft. Doorways even less. Bathroom was marginal at best. There is literally no counter space. The sink is almost unusable because the cabinet over it doesn't let you get your head over the bowl. You can't wash your face without water on the floor. The shower handle doesn't keep an even temp. The bed was comfortable but I will never rent it again.”

“The house and the area are lovely. The communication was through an agency who insisted on texting outside the AirBnB platform, even after we insisted communication remain in AirBnB. The trash from the previous tenants was never picked up, even after animals threw it all over the yard. We cleaned it up and notified them, requested they take it away, but they never did. Lastly, there's construction happening nextdoor, so trucks and jackhammering during the week (not a reflection in my rating, but a heads up to any potential visitors - a little warning would've been nice).”

“Different check-in and checkout times from AirBnB website; close to busy road; partially obstructed driveway on curve; steep walk to water, with lots of trash in water; limited number of plugs, with no 3-prong.”
