ValGal Vacation Rentals

ValGal Vacation Rentals's guest rating of 4.62 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

It gets points for a great location. But outside of that, this place is in desperate need of maintenance. The AC is extremely noisy and has the incorrect size of air filter. There are these tiny little ants everywhere. And I mean everywhere. From the second we checked in we were finding them on walls and furniture that are nowhere near food. The shower in the master suite has two modes: off and scalding hot. The sink in that same bathroom threatens to come loose every time you turn the handle. Paint is flaking off the walls in several rooms, but especially the bathrooms. The mattresses are rock hard. The check in instructions are clearly for a different brand of lock. Not fun to troubleshoot while checking in during a rainstorm. The price listed for a second car in the listing ($20 per day at the time of this booking) is not what they’ll quote you in the message ($25 per day). They’ll stick with the more expensive option if you point it out. Needs a deep general clean.

3 full trash cans sitting at curb when we arrived, had to just set our trash bags outside each day, was given wrong code to enter, had to wait, call and finally get correct codes for both doors, Downstairs apartment had food in fridge & sandy floors & ac was set to 78*! Upstairs ac was set at 80*! upon entering. It was not very clean, probably book guests back to back & home is not getting properly cleaned inbetween. bunkbed had yellow stains on sheets, hair on vanity, etc. master had a ceiling fan out of balance that thumped all night, 2 out of the 4 TVs have no remotes, so we spent our time sharing them, bath towels were worn & stained not “luxurious”, we all hit our heads on the awning poles by the porch stairs (Tip- mount the poles vertically to the porch railing- no concussions), lastly, home description states there’s a “paddle boat” nope!, also states a “huge dock-boat house in case you want to bring your boat to tie up….” Nope! 2 homeowner’s boats were there, grass & lake nice

Upon arrival the house had a smell of gas, after making contact with the management company they explained that it was a sewage smell due to a broken pipe under the house that was fixed, but that the smell remains; it was a persistent smell throughout the weekend. Funny part is that there is a requirement that you can’t open the windows while the ac is on, so the guest is left to stew in the sewage smell, horrible! Other highlights included broken glass on the patio next to the hot tub, dirty dishes in the cabinet, lamps with no plugs, dirty towels, no soap or shampoo, but they did include dishwashing soap(I guess so we could clean their dirty dishes). Except for the location(if you like Hollywood; I realize now I don’t, very seedy beach town).

This entire experience was a disaster!!! My husband ended up having a seizure a week before our trip was scheduled. Went to the hospital and was diagnosed with brain cancer. Had to have brain surgery the week we were supposed to go to the Airbnb. We spoke to the host and explained the situation and asked for a refund. We provided the medical documentation needed. The host refused to give us a refund! Said she could only rebook us for another time. When she refused to give a refund we tried to keep the reservation and have some of our guest stay at the house instead. When we asked for the passcode to get into the house, the host claimed that we asked too late and didn’t provide the code until the afternoon of check in. Causing our guest to book a hotel instead because they didn’t know when they were going to be allowed to enter the house. Ultimately no one was able to use the reservation and I never received a refund. So now I paid $2,600 for a house that was never used.

The house is as described. Spacious kitchen and dining area is a plus for our family. The location is amazing as it’s literally steps from the beach and the available use of beach chairs was great. As is the jacuzzi. (There was broken glass near it though). The beds are comfortable as well. Downside was that the host responds hours later or not at all. The fridge was broken, which can happen and I asked to tell me in advance what time the technician would arrive to which I did not receive a respond and he just showed up. (He was nice though). The ACs upstairs are in an odd location (bathroom and hallway) so all the doors must be open for the rooms to stay cool. One bathroom was unusable due to extreme low water pressure. The floors were not as clean as I would like. Usually wouldn’t mind but as we had a crawling baby it was a bummer. The lock is a bit confusing (maybe bc I’m a foreigner?). Overall we had a good stay though and would recommend for a beachy trip.

The apartment was in a good location. It had nice amenities. They could do better with the cleaning and maintenance; floors were dirty and walls were stained. Reception was ok, some of them weren’t very friendly, it was also expensive with high resort fees and we had to take the trash out. It was an ok stay for us since we were there for only two nights, but I wouldn’t stay there for longer time.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The place itself is adequate. The pictures are inaccurate but it's servicable as a place to stay in a quiet neighbourhood. We had 2 issues while staying here. The first was a lack of hot water which was promptly fixed after we reported it. The second was a cockroach infestation that despite several times being told pest control were visiting to fix it, was never fixed during our stay. We dealt with at least 10 adult cockroaches over 4 days. It completely ruined our experience. I would have been able to forgive the cockroaches if the host had did as she promised. However, the standard of service and lack of care is as disgusting as the roaches themselves.

Good. Unclear $300 extra fee that was not properly stated on the listing or phone.

I fell like the place was ok, it was a lot smller than expected. The pictured need to be updated. The furniture was dirty along with the house. We could tell they put little to no effort in cleaning. The pool table cloth was scratched up with hole in it. The kitchen sink kept leaking and we constantly had to clean the pool all day. The pots ,pans and utensils was out dated and stained. I would not book this home again

As an Airbnb host myself, I try to be fair, but this stay fell short in several areas. Upon arrival, the unit was not properly cleaned, and we found two large dead cockroaches inside, which was concerning. The master bedroom was noticeably warmer than the rest of the home, making it uncomfortable. While someone was sent out, the process was inconvenient and required more effort on our end than it should have. A cleaner was also sent, but the issues were not addressed and the condition remained the same. There were maintenance concerns as well. The flooring had visible damage, and the screen door, which is meant to keep bugs out, was not in good condition. The floors, sinks, and outdoor area all needed more attention. Overall, there is potential, but improvements in cleanliness, maintenance, and follow-through are needed.
