Manager Review

Stay Charlottesville

Stay Charlottesville's guest rating of 4.78 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“We absolutely loved our stay in Charlottesville! The location was perfect and the parking lot was super easy to navigate. We were thankful for the piano and the cleanliness of the space.”

“This is a beautiful flat located in the heart of Charlottesville, right on the mall. It’s extremely clean and inviting interior design. I highly recommend it for your next visit.”

“I never write bad reviews, but this apartment did not have a working lock for my entire stay and it felt unsafe to stay there so I had to move things to a friend’s place. They sent someone during the day who said it was fixed but when I returned the lock was still broken and the door wasn’t locked. At this point it was late at night and they sent a tech who slammed the door a few times and confirmed it was broken. Lisa was rude over the phone on the emergency line and implied I was doing something wrong or that I should bolt the door. However there wasn’t a bolt and their own technician confirmed it wouldn’t lock. They didn’t even know how to open or lock their own door. A huge waste of time and bad customer service. Then they only offered 50% refund even though I had to move my stuff and didn’t sleep there because it wasn’t safe. The apartment is beautiful but make sure the door locks before you pay.”

“Great location. I drove in and parking in the city lot could not have been any easier. The location is very walkable to many fantastic restaurants and such. I will be back on my next visit.”

“Nice and roomy, very comfortable. Good location in the heart of the Charlottesville Mall. Easy to walk to shops and restaurants. A little noisy at night, but to be expect this location. Bright street lights do shine through the blinds at night as other reviews mentioned, but having an eye mask helps. Great place overall, only complaint was there was a little mildew growth on the shower curtain liner and shower wall. Other than that, it was a very cute and convenient place for a weekend stay!”

“It was a great location, but for the price, I expected it a little bit more. Paying $400+ a night comes with higher expectations of amenities provided and cleanliness of cupboards, entry way, etc. It also felt like the host was trying to catch us breaking rules to charge penalty fees. Overall, we had a great stay while we were in town for a wedding. But I would probably just arrange to stay next door at the Omni for not too dissimilar rates and enjoy much better service and amenities.”

“I would caution on this one. It's a very old building that needs maintenance and upkeep, including the linens. Also, there's heavy construction during the day, coffee shop below that blasts music at 6am, front door lock isn't sufficient for the homeless situation outside, mattresses are not comfortable and lumpy. The host takes a few hours to communicate, and needs nudging to keep guest updated. Overall it was fine, with issues I had to manage around, but not great.”

“Very spacious place - looked just like the pictures minus the pretty steep staircase to get upstairs! Lots of parking and big common areas, and super close to downtown. Lots of towels, nice big bed with comfy linens. AC worked great. There were bugs however, all over the place. There were giant carpenter ants that descended anytime we opened food, and there were spiders and even a worm in the shower. The host just told us to spray stuff but we had a dog and didn't want them to get sick. Would also maybe recommend getting blackout curtains - it was so bright in the morning.”

“The good: Very close to the Main Street area and to the Paramount theater. Pretty space with lovely stained glass. We loved the room with the Murphy bed, perfect spot to read in the morning! It was a great location to stay overnight to see a live show at The Jefferson Theater and enjoy some of our favorite parts of the city. Booking the entire space would be amazing for a large group or a bachelorette. There’s a large group space and you can apparently even schedule a live cooking demonstration in the main kitchen. The bad: The house was sort of hidden. In fact, the house next door is ALSO # 400. So, make sure you’re in the right spot. Check in was not the smoothest. We were never given our code to the key lockbox and ultimately went in and found our key lockbox left open. We ended up walking through the space thoroughly to make sure no one was in our unit because the keys were not locked away. Coffee maker had used coffee grounds in it.”

“When we got there, we couldn’t see nor find the code to the door. So i kindly messaged Michael to get the door code and he was being rude while giving the code. I was also under the impression that we rented out both floors of the airbnb being thats what it shows, but were only able access to the downstairs floor, once we got inside our airbnb i noticed there was a half opened thing of pork in the fridge, cups were wet sitting there ready to use, silverware was dirty looking, there was crumbs in the kitchen drawers the pots and pans were thrown everywhere. Was not organized at all. there was hair in the sink as well as black stuff in the shower, the bed was super squeaky. The pictures that were posted had different things in the room, than what was in it. just was not what we thought it was going to be!”
