Manager Review

Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals

Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals's guest rating of 4.73 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

Was not clean, dust everywhere, rat crap in the kitchen, rats got into $300 worth of food.

Broken Glass on walking path to lake. Years of Crumbs in sofa cushions creases. Not enough towels for 8 guests. 1 detergent pod. “Starter pack” was a joke. Coffee maker broken. Grime on light switches. Smoke detectors went off every night. “Anchors away” showed water at the dock in the listing. Asked if we can dock a boat there and was told yes. Rented a boat for $1700 and couldn’t get even get the boat to the dock. Moldly shower curtain. Hot tub water murky. Paid over 2 months of mortgage for sub par week.

Unfortunately, this stay didn’t match the listing or our expectations. The photos don’t show how busy the river is, with hundreds of people tubing by all day, yelling, and even walking up the stairs to reach the road. The lack of privacy was disappointing. The neighbors were also a major issue. We were yelled at on the first day for supposedly speeding, even though we were following the posted limit. On the Fourth of July, we set off a few small fireworks at 9:30 p.m., before the listed 10:00 p.m. quiet hours, and were cursed at by the neighbor afterward. With no blinds in the living room/kitchen, it felt like we had no privacy. The downstairs requires a separate entrance and code, which wasn’t clear in the listing. The house also felt much smaller than expected, and we found three large palmetto bugs inside. We left a day early because we no longer felt comfortable. For nearly $400 a night, I expected a more relaxing, private, and accurately represented stay.

We arrived to an incorrect bedroom listing (advertised as a king but was a queen), a broken oven, a flickering TV, noisy ceiling fans, dirty dishes, dirty floors, rodent droppings in kitchen drawers, a dead mouse under the sink, charcoal ash covering the main deck, green mold on the terrace-level deck, & other cleanliness issues. The biggest concern was the condition of the bed linens. We did not feel they had been freshly changed before our arrival. We had to sleep in them the first night, & even after housekeeping came the next day, they still weren’t changed until we specifically requested it. Maintenance came 4 times, including replacing a disabled smoke detector that chirped constantly. Communication from the management company was very poor. They were largely unresponsive during the day, ignored our requests for a phone call during business hours. It was a holiday weekend so we had no alternative accommodations. We would not stay here or book another Southern Comfort property.

It was ok, not our favorite air bnb. There is no hot tub Bring paper towel, toilet paper, all spices, Tupperware to store any leftover food, I would recommend paper plates and plastic stuff (if you have kids)

Southern Comfort manages this property and I won't rent a property from them again. Communication emails conflict with two different sets of info. Have to sign additional agreements. Property address did not include unit number, only building number. Luckily someone picked up the phone. They send emails at checkout saying that they will fine you for different things if not done properly. One kitchen chair had a broken leg, TV had Roku issues and we couldn't get it to work for two days. Living room has a big dehumidifier sitting in the living room. Not a place I will be coming back to.

Beautiful place but not much was kept up on the amenities, gas stove wouldn’t light and water leak as well as directions weren’t good. We paid for a cabin that we couldn’t even enjoy what we paid for

Would not recommend! The house wasn’t clean at all! All the beds had hair and stains on sheets/pillows. Beds super uncomfortable. The drinking cups were dirty. Broken blender. Rusty knifes. Spiders in the downstairs bathroom. Personal items in the dressers/closets in the bedrooms. Water damage in the basement/moldy table. Was informed of a mandatory rental agreement the day of check-in. Was not informed of the rule of not being able to bring a trailer into the neighborhood until arrival. Overall bad experience! There is no personal connection to the owner of the house, it is operated by a rental company with super strict rules! Not worth the money you pay. We arrived late at night and had a dirty bed to sleep in. Not even a trash can to dispose of my trash!!!

Neighborhood was great and the scenery was beautiful, however the house was NOT cleaned or prepared for our arrival AT ALL! Very disappointed! Grease all over the kitchen counters and stovetop, hair all over the floor, dirty bed sheets!! We literally went to the store and bought cleaning supplies to clean just so we felt comfortable!

The worst AirBNB experience I’ve ever had. I received texts daily with the same information. I sent my photo ID four times. When I suggested canceling the trip after exhausting, useless, repetitive messages, I finally received the document needed to move forward. When I arrived at location, I waited for over an hour for a message on how to get in. Lodging was not as expected… very small, hole in the shower wall, no ice.
