Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals

“Cabin needs obvious maintenance. Hot tub is in disrepair. Mold growing in toilet room upstairs. Screen on door not attached. Difficult to tell if door was properly locked from inside.”

“Huge home with lots of space for guests. Plenty of towels for showering and dips in the hot tub. Feels very private and secluded with beautiful views. There’s also amenity access to heated pool, playground, hiking trails, etc in the neighborhood community of Big Canoe. I would look this up prior to your stay to plan ahead. My only complaint is we didn’t have internet during the entire stay which was never resolved. I was told this was due to an outage from a storm. This was unfortunate because you couldn’t use the TVs or anything without internet. I also didn’t have the best cell service at the home so would’ve been nice to have wifi so we could use iMessage and FaceTime to communicate with family. We stayed busy with activities but enjoy cozying up on the couch after a long day to watch a movie. Lastly, driveway is very steep which was scary on arrival but you get used to it after a couple times. Huge garage was a nice plus as your car is nice and secure every night.”

“Our stay had mixed results. The house was nice with plenty of room in the den area, the front and back yards were also very nice. There were some small issues that should not happen when you are paying $1,000 a night. The master bath shower head sprayed all over and also leaked. You could see on the floor where the water leaked and will become a problem if not corrected. It was bad for us so we went upstairs to shower which was an inconvenience. Also, there were 3 bathrooms and in all 3 there was no body wash – again this should not happen. In the house description, it stated that there would be oil, salt and pepper, but none of these items were available. There was very little room to store clothes but there was an extra room off the master bedroom where there was a cabinet and washer/dryer. Unfortunately, there was a spare mattress in there, so the room was not usable. Some of these might be small things, but they should be taken care of if you are paying $1,000 a night.”

“We originally booked a 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath cabin and was switched to a 2 bedroom 1 bath cabin 2 hours before our arrival due to water issue. We asked for a discount due to being moved to a smaller place. Still have not heard anything back from management or received a discount. The cabin we stayed in had no issues other than the size for 5 people.”

“The place was good the driveway is quiet steep and we got the wrong code at check in. If you rent here make sure you have a higher clearance vehicle. We were fine but I could see if you had a smaller car getting stuck.”

“The pros: spacious and nicely furnished bedrooms to comfortably sleep our group of 9. The game room was a hit with the air hockey and ping pong tables. The porch was nice for morning coffee and evening winding down. The neighborhood is very quiet. The kitchen is mostly well stocked. The cons: the hot tub did not work for 5 out of the 7 days of our stay. No ping pongs balls provided for the ping pong table. The patio furniture was missing their cushions. I wouldn't consider the back yard dog friendly for smaller dogs. The fence was more of a netting that had several large openings that any dog could easily fit through. Over the week we contacted Southern Comfort 5 times. Twice with quick response, twice with slow response, and once with no response. We were told management would reach out to address the several issues we had but have not been contacted. The home served its purpose, but had we known about the broken hot tub and back yard condition, we wouldn't have booked this home.”

“Overall, we had a great stay and really enjoyed the property. The home was beautiful, spacious, and looked exactly as pictured. The views were stunning, and we loved the privacy and peaceful atmosphere. However, we did experience a few issues. We were not provided with correct check in information beforehand and had to reach out ourselves for the gate and house codes. Even after receiving the correct codes, the gate continued to malfunction, and I had to drive down several times to let family members in. We also had an issue with the indoor fireplace in the living room, which would not ignite. Maintenance came out to inspect and attempt to fix it, but unfortunately, they were unable to get it working during our stay. Despite these inconveniences, we truly enjoyed the property and our time there. The home and beautiful views made our stay special, and with a few improvements to the check in process and amenities, it would be an even more enjoyable experience. Thanks!”

“The house was comfortable and probably one of the few homes in the community that could fit four cars in the driveway, it is unsafe in the bathrooms. Not evensure it's legal to have a shower in a jacuzzi tub. there are no handrails to assist in getting out of tub, My slipped twce trying to get out. The bottoms of all tubs were slippery. But what bothered all of us the most was the lack of daily necessities that Southern Comfort doesn't bother to tell you until the last minute that they don't supply. They give you a house that sleeps 12 with three rolls of tp to last four days. Or dishwasher pod for one washing. This is not an Airbnb people. THis is managed by another company. I won't be staying in another rental managed by Southern Comfort.”

“Was not clean, dust everywhere, rat crap in the kitchen, rats got into $300 worth of food.”

“We arrived to an incorrect bedroom listing (advertised as a king but was a queen), a broken oven, a flickering TV, noisy ceiling fans, dirty dishes, dirty floors, rodent droppings in kitchen drawers, a dead mouse under the sink, charcoal ash covering the main deck, green mold on the terrace-level deck, & other cleanliness issues. The biggest concern was the condition of the bed linens. We did not feel they had been freshly changed before our arrival. We had to sleep in them the first night, & even after housekeeping came the next day, they still weren’t changed until we specifically requested it. Maintenance came 4 times, including replacing a disabled smoke detector that chirped constantly. Communication from the management company was very poor. They were largely unresponsive during the day, ignored our requests for a phone call during business hours. It was a holiday weekend so we had no alternative accommodations. We would not stay here or book another Southern Comfort property.”
