Sojourney's guest rating of 4.76 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“The apartment was modern, nicely decorated, and looked like the photos. However, there were a few issues. The garage is extremely small. Our pickup truck barely fit, and I suspect some SUVs would have trouble as well. Street parking was very difficult to find. The extra single bed for the fifth guest was uncomfortable and made loud noises whenever you moved. The biggest issue was a strong urine smell in the home. When we arrived, the AC was set lower and the odor wasn’t very noticeable. The next day, after the thermostat appeared to be raised, the smell became much stronger. All five of us noticed it, and it seemed to be coming from a mattress, sofa, or another upholstered item. I hope the host addresses this issue because it significantly affected our stay. Overall, the apartment looks good, but the parking limitations, noisy extra bed, and urine odor should be considered before booking.”airbnb

“We had the misfortune of checking in after some rowdy guests checked out. They broke the gaming table, sofa and 2/4 of the bar stools. There were small pieces of hard candy stuck to the walls. Trash still in the bathroom. We were missing 1/2 rollaway beds, so we had to go retrieve one from another unit. Even if all that wasn’t there, I would not stay here again. It says “full kitchen” so it’s got a stove, oven, fridge and small dishwasher, but doesn’t actually have much in the way of cookware. We had a hell of a time just trying to make spaghetti one night. No oven mitts, no oven baking sheets. Also, there’s no hooks ANYWHERE. No hooks or rods in the bathroom to hang towels. No hooks to hang jackets or travel toilette bags. Plus it’s extremely loud all day and night. I slept with earplugs and that barely made a difference. It does come with a garage parking just down the street, which was nice. But the garage spot is SMALL. We were driving a Hyundai Santa Fe and it BARELY fit.”airbnb

“This was a bad experience with this location. Some of the things that they were showing on the Airbnb app was not in the apartment. It was definitely giving false advertisement. The sofa that they had at this location was not the same sofa that’s on the app. This sofa was very very filthy.🤮🤮. We did not even get to enjoy the living room at all, far as the kitchen, there was only one drinking glass, we had a party of four and there was only one face towel and dry off towel a piece. The sheets in one of the bedrooms were deeply damp, we had to strip the bed and put the sheets in the dryer. There was no coffee maker that was displayed in the pictures. We did notify the host about the experience. At first, they did not want to take accountability. We agreed on a full refund and that was 13 days ago. We still have not received. I do not recommend this place to anyone until they update their pictures on the app. We did not get what we paid for. False advertisement!!!”airbnb

“The space was neat and well-designed. However, the king-sized bed had visible hair and looked dirty, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. I notified the host promptly, but they didn’t respond until the next day—only saying they hoped I enjoyed my stay. I did not, and I felt unacknowledged. The Wi-Fi was also down all night, adding to the inconvenience.”airbnb

“Overall it was a good experience. I can’t help but mention that I was asked at the last minute, after several mass text within 24 hours but 2 hours before check in, to provide a secondary number for “emergency” reasons as a “new procedure”. Again this communication came only a few hours before check in. I wouldn’t have thought anything about it if it was apart of the initial conversation. Outside of that, I have no complaints. Very clean property that looked exactly how it did in the pictures provided. The location was a short distance from everything and I felt safe in and around the building. Lastly, on a clear night you can get a great view of the city.”airbnb

“I cannot recommend staying at this unit. It was dirty upon arrival. The floors had food, dirt, and crumbs left in the kitchen. Dirty socks were found under the sofa from the previous guest, carpets were horribly stained and dirty. Hair still on them. Microwave was broken, broken bathroom fixtures, and shampoo dispenser had leaked all over the bathroom floor and was empty. The heater covers that lined the bedroom floors were falling off and dangerous as the beds took up the entire room. They were tripping hazards and sharp. All of this was communicated to the host and only a new cheap shampoo was dropped off. Maintenance was unable to be fixed at all or in a timely manner. Host was responsive but nothing was resolved. Great location and clean beds, but for their price, it was awful.”airbnb

“The host is super rude calling my phone at 1 am called me about 4 or 5 times accusing me of throwing a party when I actually was in the unit sleeping this building is in the middle of the hood it's in an apartment building if you know East Orange then you know! the apartment building threw a party twice both times the host contacted me accusing me of throwing parties when I spoke with someone who actually lives in the building they said that that building throw parties all the time. they have a rooftop on the 9th floor my unit was also on the 9th floor I hear music all night never complained the next day the host threatened to call the police on me because I was 15 mins past checkout time had the cleaners come in at 11 am sharp taking pictures of me I asked the host could I get a grace period of 15 to 30 minutes to pack up my things so I can leave they started going back and forth about that being super unprofessional! To the point had to contact Airbnb the hospitality is trash”airbnb

“I’ve stayed with this host for about 2 weeks at first. It was nice. . I ended up extending another 10 days. I’ve paid about $3k with them. The unit was in a building which clearly was having illegal Airbnb going on because they started messaging me about quiet hours frequently &i don’t party. I’m staying while I’m waiting for my home renovations to be done. The building had about 2 parties during my stay & every time They contacted me basically accusing me of throwing the party. I informed them that I would never do something like that without permission and that they need to check the cameras immediately the day of check out They got disrespectful, threatening to call the police on me because I told him that this had been the second time they had accuse me of throwing parties.and I would be contacting Airbnb and reporting them so they then had the cleaners come in at 11 & gave me no grace period to remove my belong she took pictures of me & the host threatened again with police”airbnb

“The power went out in the basement while we were there. I immediately alerted the host in hopes of getting it rectified. They never responded. I followed up after they sent a check out message hours later in the morning. Power going out in the basement completely eliminated our ability to use more than a third of the house. When they finally did respond after I followed up, they told us to flip the breaker. I expressed concern and even requested a refund, to which they told me they would grant, but they informed me that their billing company needed 7 to 14 days post checkout in order to even begin processing that. What I realized is that they did this in an effort to circumvent a negative review, recognizing that the reviews time out after a while. This was not cool at all. It was also weird to me that they requested we take the trash out, but they had a cleaning crew come literally as we were exiting. Also weird was when we entered the unit, there was a woman and child inside.”airbnb
