Manager Review

Sojourn

Sojourn's guest rating of 4.76 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

There was no air conditioning and the unit would read 76 to 78 and I was told three times that the unit was working properly. They sent out three different people with the first two not qualified. They did say the third person was an HVAC tech but we walked it and it was just the manager. They had gotten it to 74 but it was cooler that last day outside. I wish I could add pictures of the thermostat readings each day and the third floor was miserable. They said give it time after the technician was there but it went back up to 76 not down like they said and we had all the ceiling fans and box fans on each floor running circulating. I did not get a restful vacation because of this which is disappointing. If they had just fixed the problem instead of delaying the issue until we left then we might have been satisfied.

The house was not pictured accurately in the photos. The outside is in need of painting. There was trash on the sidewalk when we arrived. No care has been given to any of the landscaping out front. The accessibility to the beach was great, but the brush on the walkway from the house to the boardwalk needs trimmed. There were beach chairs provided but they were so old we did not want to use them. The grill was also not usable because it was too dirty. The first day we arrived there was a strong urine smell in the house. It was so strong that we could not use the upstairs master or bathroom. After investigation the cleaner found that someone had urinated in the upstairs master bathroom cabinet. Needless to say that was not a good start to our stay. We left early. For the price we paid I am incredibly disappointed in the condition of this house and I do not recommend it to anyone. There are so many houses in the OBX that are much nicer and are the same price or less.

I booked this property for my husband's birthday trip with our two young children. Before arrival, I requested that the cleaning crew remove their shoes or wear shoe covers since our children would be crawling on the floors. The host agreed, but when we arrived, the property was filthy. There were crumbs on the table, dust and dirt on the counters and floors, and trash under the bed. We spent nearly two hours cleaning instead of enjoying our vacation. I contacted the host and requested a refund of the cleaning fee, but they repeatedly refused and only offered to send the same cleaners back. My calls went unanswered, and my requests to speak with management were ignored until I said I would dispute the charge and leave. Even then, no compensation was offered. This was the worst customer service I've experienced, and I cannot recommend staying here.

This has got to be the oddest experience I’ve had at an air BnB. They told us nothing about a second parking pass. They were messaging me about it over and over. Come to find out the second parking pass was a PHOTO. Who would think a photo would be a parking pass?? No one in their right mind when literally anyone can take a picture and print it out. They called me TWICE about it after check out even though I took a picture of both parking passes sitting on the counter. We put the a/c down to 66 trying to cool off the place and it was never cooler than 72 the whole 4 nights we were there. There were 8 of us for 4 night and they only gave us 8 wash rags. Were we supposed to use the same one every day? We went and bought some. They were just weird. I’m used to staying in places where you can tell the host put their heart into their home. That is not this company.

Honestly we were disappointed. This was our honeymoon and we were originally super excited. For a place that was over 2,000$ for our stay we expected better. For starters when we arrived the kitchen faucet shot water sideways making it so we really couldn't use the kitchen. We had planned to host dinner for our friends and we ended up not being able to. On top of that, when told maintenance would come and fix it we were told to put our dog in a room. Which is fine I completely understood even though he is super friendly. However maintenance never came. And I had to call to get an update. It would have been better if someone had contacted me so I didn't have to leave my dog in a room for so long. Besides that, the sink never got fixed. The toilet in the master bathroom also did not flush all the time. My husband had to fix it twice. The outside area was covered in debris / leaves as though it had not been maintained in weeks and there was bird poop all over the chairs making it unusable

Floors were very dirty and there were ants and spiders everywhere. The house was nice and location was nice, it was a longer walk to the beach than originally anticipated about 20 minutes. There was not a hair dryer as it was listed and specifically asked. We did overall enjoy our time but would not stay here again

Upon arrival we found a vape left behind as well as trash under dressers and the couch. It wasn’t filthy but not clean either the floors felt sandy and there was also hairs in the shower. When i told the host they offered to come back and clean however the next day Noone came. When i reached back out they asked for photos then said they would come Wednesday this was days into our trip. Then my guest fell through the outside shower im thankful it was not the deck he fell through since they also replaced a board on the deck during our stay. Overall not great experience.

Worst experience in 11 years on Airbnb. Checked out 24 hours early due to safety and hygiene issues. At check-in, doors were unlocked and outside trash bins were full. The house was dirty: a hairy razor, dirty rag, and soap were left in a shower. Management offered a refresh, but my daughter cleaned herself. Floors were filthy. Another shower was so clogged it was unusable. The pool stayed murky; a tech replaced the filter but it never cleared, making it uncomfortable to use. My husband moved bins to clear flies and found a rotting bag of dirty diapers left behind them. They brought new pool chairs but too late to use . Major hazards:pool chair completely snapped and collapsed under me, nearly causing a head injury. A deck chair rusted through & broke; a vent and stool were broken. Worst of all, my daughter found a used tobacco can in her bedding after sleeping in it for nights. Management only offered $250. Airbnb corporate stepped in with AirCover to force our refund. Avoid.

I'm going to be honest with you guys this was a terrible welcoming, first off Hanan front desk instead of saying welcome first thing he said was "this is not a hotel" like what who says that to a stranger and then anis front desk also telling me to "leave my drivers license or id" with him when i asked him why he couldn't answer me. Plus the key card still doesn't work someone from the Hilton side has to let us up everytime it's kind of annoying. For my first time being out here in dc this is a terrible experience so far so. The whole key to the unit situation needs more in-depth explanation for future bookers, i was told someone would reach out and make it up to me in the morning for my troubles the night before and that was a lie. But i understand i will be back in dc in the future just not at this place.

They had a plumbing issue- not their fault but seage in the shower and leaked into closet. Didn't know make right even though 2 designer shoes were ruined and couldn't 't use the apartment for a full day. Expected to be made whole - not even close. They kept asking for receipts for shoes!!! I took pics of the damage - but not good enough. They ask the impossible when you were clearly damaged
