SML Vacation Rentals

“Overall, the house was great. Positives: very large, great woodburning fireplace, overall clean, a lot of games for family time, private, quiet, lots of outdoor space. HOWEVER, we booked the location based on the fact that it would be on the water with easy access to the lake/dock for fishing for my son's birthday. The lake was so low (thanks, drought) and vegetation was overgrown off the dock, so there was no access for fishing or to the water at all. The lake starts about 100 yards from the dock. I didn't realize based on the listing that there was NO water, not just low level water. I asked for a portion of a refund because I felt a bit misled but the rental agency would not even entertain the notion. Just be aware that when you are renting, there actually may be NO access to the lake at all.”

“This was our 2nd trip of the season to SML. It was our first time staying at Tulip Tree. We loved the privacy and water access. Lots of space in the home. Would be happy to stay here again when we are back.”

“Even tho there was some issues, we didn’t let that stop our vacay. Beautiful views, great location. I do not recommend for children under age of 12-due to the stairs in home and the railings on deck. Very unique home, had an old smell. Beds were comfortable, There was no trash service!! All in all we enjoyed our stay after getting issues dealt with.”

“It was a beautiful location but far more isolated from the rest of the lake community than expected. The place was spacious and the pictures in the listing matched most items. There were a few items to be aware of before booking. There are extensive rules and most are not disclosed until 48 hours prior to your arrival, including the fact that you must drive all trash ten minutes away, or you will incur more fees. We were on a tight schedule with graduations and back-to-back events and that was very inconvenient/nearly impossible. We also didn't have a truck or other vehicle convenient to do that with fully loaded vehicles. The beds, with the exception of the master, were extremely hard (and I've stayed in many AirBnBs). The slope to the dock is also very steep and not shown in the pics (important if you have older people in your party). Otherwise, we were happy with our stay as it had many amenities.”

“The whole trip was great, and then we had to put all of our trash in our car (with our luggage) and take it to a dump. There really needs to be a trash service. Especially for those of us that do not have trucks.”

“A little expensive for what we used it for but otherwise ok. Trash will need to be taken about 10 minutes away which was inconvenient.”

“Overall, the stay was fine. The pictures do not match some of the furniture that is inside the home. You cannot use the closet in the master bedroom due to a keypad lock. There were a few clothing items left over by the previous renter. The master bathroom was a tad dirty. There was a lot of hair in and around the shower. We brought our dogs and they found tic tacs on the floor so I do not know if the carpets were vacuumed or not. Some of the blinds cannot be closed due to being broken. There is not a lot around the house itself. Closest Walmart was about 40 minutes away so come with everything you need. There is a small corner store that had a few essentials.”
