Second Home Vacation Rentals

Second Home Vacation Rentals's guest rating of 4.77 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

“Rough all the way around. The house is up a very bumpy dirt road that will take at least 30 minutes to traverse every single time. I drive a pretty new lifted jeep and this road was TERRIBLE even with dual fox shocks and 35 inch tires. The nearest store is located in fairplay and has a very limited selection at an an unbelievable markup. Most of the windows do not work and the ones that do have their views obstructed by various warning and labels from the host. I stayed for 2 weeks, the WiFi did not work a single time. I reached out to the host half way through our trip to find out about getting this fixed and they said they’d reach out to the owners but that was the last I heard. I also did not have above 1 bar of cell service at any point in this cabin. The combo of no WiFi and no cell service makes it difficult to plan activities, grocery shop, and enjoy the trip. Additionally there were an ungodly amount of spiders in the property and the beds are hard. Overall would not recommend”airbnb

“Easy to find and convenient location off the highway. We brought 6 guests and had adequate space for everyone. Communication with host was easy. Having access to the garage was nice for storing gear. Neighborhood is a bit run down and there is no outdoor space to enjoy. There is some noise from the tenants on the other side of the townhouse. This place really needs some updates. If improvements were made it could be a fantastic spot. Instead it reminded us of a cheap motel room with dingy furnishings and linens, stains on both the carpet and shower curtains, and blinds in the bedrooms that are hard to manage. Even my teens complained about how uncomfortable the beds were. Adding room darkening blinds would be really beneficial to keep that bright morning light out. We asked for a later checkout time and host Communicated only 15 minutes grace could be given without a $50 fee. Apparently you have to arrange this in advance and was told this is in the rental agreement that you sign 🙄”airbnb

“The home is very nice and accurately described. It is a peaceful location, sometimes the neighbors music is a bit too loud in the morning. We enjoyed hummingbirds on the deck every day. The location is nice for exploring a variety of places within 1 to 2 hours drive. The preparation by the management company could be a little more thorough, such as checking propane tanks for the grill and tabletop fire pit; and checking that the WiFi is functioning and that batteries in remotes are functioning. We resolved he Wi-Fi people ourselves - it was not plugged in correctly. They did respond when contacted and resolved the issues, it just seems a bit more attention beforehand could reduce their need for extra trips as well. We would stay again.”airbnb

“This is an excellent place if you're looking to get away from the world and enjoy some peace and quiet. The location is fantastic—peaceful and secluded, yet with grocery stores and restaurants less than 15 minutes away. I did end up with a few small spider bites during my stay, which appeared to happen overnight while I was sleeping. Not a major issue, but something future guests may want to keep in mind. The only part that took away from an otherwise wonderful stay was the check-out experience. Although we still had about 20 minutes before the official check-out time, the cleaning staff had already started encouraging us to leave and started to clean, not very nice of them. The cleaning lady wasn't particularly welcoming either, but I suppose everyone has difficult days. A little more patience and courtesy would have made the ending of an otherwise peaceful stay just as enjoyable as the rest of it.”airbnb

“This tiny home is cute and quant. The few downsides were cleanliness and the neighborhood. The house was full of dust and hair, like it hadn’t been deep cleaned in quite some time. I ended up running a damp paper total over the walls, ledges, fridge, etc. The sheets had little cards that stated they had been cleaned but in each bed there was all kinds of human and pet hair in the sheets. The throw blankets were the same. All in all it needs a deep clean. The other downside was the oven wasn’t working to be able to cook in. The porch was a great place to hang out but the neighbors dogs would bark incessantly when you would sit outside. The neighborhood was somewhat run down with half campers and half tiny homes.”airbnb

“Overall, this was a good experience. The space was clean and it is located in a beautiful area. There are plenty of beds and kitchen utensils. The laundry area was a nice perk. I would highly recommend reading through the tedious details to know exactly what you’re dealing with. When I had booked the Airbnb I was unaware of an extra guest that would be joining, but I figured it would be okay to add one since I had yet to meet the guest maximum. I was charged an additional $100, so that was a fun surprise. Also, the hot water runs out very quickly. This may not be the best fit for a larger group, especially if you’re engaging in outside activities that require clean up afterwards.”airbnb

“We came on very short notice and I think were one of the first guests in this new Airbnb. Communication was relatively good, the kitchen well-supplied with all you might need to cook. Beautiful, secluded location but experienced a power outage which left us hanging for a while with not much support. If you come during winter, bring candles, non-perishable food and some water just in case. Only one gas station in town had power and were open for supplies.”airbnb

“This house is large and in a beautiful surrounding. It is quite a drive to get to the ski resorts but beautiful scenery along the way. Unfortunately the hot tub was only working one night for us out of the 5 days we were there. We had planned to ski each day and use the hot tub at night. The temp would not heat up and even though the company said the jets would continue to run to heat it, it did not. We had really disappointed and sore teenagers! Another reason we chose this house was the washer and dryer. Our family of six was skiing each day and wanted to wash and dry our ski clothes at night. We were really disappointed after our first day of skiing to find that the dryer was only blowing cold air, no hot air. Our wet clothes had to be laid out all over the house to dry that night. I messaged the company on Friday evening when we realized this but unfortunately they couldn’t get anyone out to look at it until Monday after we were flying home.”airbnb

“Beautiful home and views however make sure you come in the day time as this place is impossible to find and only use google maps here as Apple Maps does not have the right location. We were lost for around 30 mins before a local man helped us find the home. Additionally it’s you’re going during know beware!!! The driveway is incredibly steep and the plow person/system they have is horrible. Our AWD car got stuck twice on the driveway, we have to leave to and hike the rest of the way. Other than that the house was beautiful but incredibly inconvenient and dangerous during snow.”airbnb
