Resort Real Estate & Rentals at Sugar Mountain

Resort Real Estate & Rentals at Sugar Mountain's guest rating of 4.56 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

Our annual mother/daughter trip was perfect. The house was a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful views. Great location to restaurants, coffee shops, and out door activities. We would definitely like to come back.

The day of our arrival, I had not received any information about checking in. I was supposed to get a text & email for the code for entry to the home, the day before our arrival. I arrived and tried calling the office to get the information. The office was closed. After waiting for over 2 hours for a response via text or email, I contacted the Airbnb office number and they could not help me. I went to the main office and contacted emergency services and was given the code to enter the home. I contacted the rental company the next day, did not get a response. I’m not sure how 2 different ways to contact me was not received. The home was very easy to get to, very clean, comfortable and everyone enjoyed their stay. I was disappointed that the deck area was not clean. The picnic tables were dirty. No chairs, but there were camp chairs for everyone to use. I would suggest a gas grill for the deck. The Byrnes Family I would prefer that this review not be published.

The unit overall was nice. The temperature inside the unit with windows open and fans on didn’t get below 83 degrees during the day and 77 at night. The listing stated the unit had a portable AC unit but it did not.

Lovely place. Host accomodatef extra fans as no air con. Check in details not sent so couldn’t check in first night - but host did refund that night. Overall a lovely place.

The kitchen was cute and mostly updated. The beds were comfortable. Unfortunately the upstairs room with a king bed smelled like an animal had used it as a bathroom before we got there. The windows in that room were open when we arrived and box fans in every room. There was no AC which contradicts the listing and would have been nice to know before booking in July. Otherwise it met our needs for the weekend.

Communication isn’t great and comes across as quite rude. You don’t need to tell paying customers to not come to the rental multiple times before their vacation even starts. Reached out to ask about trash and never got a response. Then we left BEFORE checkout and hours later were accused of still being there. Literally, the only communication with you wasn’t great, nor helpful. Location is fantastic and the rental looks like the photos. However, there’s an ant problem and the front door doesn’t always lock / it’s glitchy - you need to have that fixed. Beds are a matter of personal preference. I prefer a soft mattress so I’d give the beds a 2/10 but if you like a firm mattress you’ll love the beds.

We stayed here over fourth of July weekend, which was the hottest weekend so far this summer. The ac/thermostat broke after first night, called and was told they stopped and checked it while I was out - which was a lie because I was there the whole time. Then was told, since it is the 4th of July, they could not do anything about it, which that I understood, but then why lie? They told us they would reach out to the owner and try to get us some money back after the weekend. We paid top price which I understand due to it being a holiday but not having a con such a hot weekend made it very uncomfortable. No one ever reached out to me about any sort of refund. I contacted them and never heard back. This is my fifth time staying in Sugar Mountain over the past eight years and out of all the times this has been the worst experience. I will say the house was beautiful and clean but the owners would benefit from a change in management.

Overall, our trip to Elk Hill drive was good. The outside of the property is BEAUTIFUL! The entire yard is fenced in so your dog can roam about freely. The deck was brand new, I believe. There is plenty of space for a large family to eat, sleep and play. There was only 3 of us so we each had our own king size bed and our own bathrooms! The kitchen had a lot to be desired. It was not well organized. There were few pots pans- none with matching lids. There were few cooking utensils. There were no hot pads to take things out of the oven or the stove. There was no broom to clean up after ourselves or cleaning products, other than dish soap and dishwasher pods. The showers were moldy. My bathmat was dirty with even a toenail in it. I washed them myself. The fans were dusty. The sheets were scratchy as well. Over all I would give the property a 6 out of 10. It depends on what you are looking for-- space or cleanliness. Space/view is a 10 out of 10, cleanliness 4 out of 10.

The only 2 negative things were the parking situation and a lack of sufficient hot water. Having to park and be shuttled was a pain and there was not enough hot water for 2 showers
