Manager Review

Portoro

Portoro's guest rating of 4.79 is below average and may adversely impact performance. Some of this can come from specific properties they manage — but where reviews point to manager weaknesses (responsiveness, cleanliness, listing accuracy) that would apply to your home too, they can adversely affect your bookings and the quality of guests you attract.

The location is great, very easy to walk to the village. But the busy road nearby detracts somewhat from the beautiful sound of the babbling river in the back yard, which is very overgrown. Instructions asked us to use the side door but we could not unlock it. Had to enter from the front door. It's a charming, older home, but could use a refresh. The dishes, glasses, pots/pans were dirty. There was a resident daddy long legs in the bathroom. The upstairs tub does not drain properly. Gross. I reached out to the property management company before I booked to specifically ask if three cars can fit in the driveway. They said we were welcome to bring three cars, but there was only space for two. But we did enjoy our stay, and the home had plenty of space for six adults. Lots of great restaurants, shops, and things to do in the area!

No parking as they were roofing and repairing the buildings. Constant hammering on many of the days we were there. Would have liked to have know there would be repairs happening. The location is great. The rugs need cleaned. We were without hot water about half of our showers and baths. The bedding needs to be replaced, it's lumpy and uncomfortable. Sad that it could have been wonderful....it needs updated.

The view and beach was beautiful! The locks were finicky, the internet service was spotty, and there were not enough towels or T.P. in the spaces for how many people we had (9). I expected the spaces to be connected. It seemed like the listing wasn't clear on the fact that the spaces were like 3 different apartments, only connected by the outside. It was difficult to mingle with all 9 of us, but we made it work. The view and beach made it awesome.

Condo was beautiful. I arrived 45 minutes before check in and even though the condo was cleaned and ready the office would not allow me to enter early so I had to sit in the parking lot. Probably won’t rent from this company again…it was pretty expensive and for three days they left 4 coffee pods and one set of towels.

Special place. I already booked an additional two weeks here in late October to early November. I would never again stay in the heat of the summer. The heat in the home was brutal, I had to leave a day early because I couldn’t take it anymore. That being said… the house is lovely and I adored my mornings here. The location is fantastic and the decor is so cozy it made me smile and instantly relax despite the uncomfortable heat. Unfortunately the downstairs shower was never cleaned. There were empty thrown toiletries and dirty towels left behind. The showers have a rust issue and covered everything in a film of brown rust with a bad smell so I was not quick to shower during my stay, which made it even more uncomfortable for me in the heat. Cleaning / toiletry supplies were not adequately stocked. The side and back doors were left unlocked when I arrived, not a single light left on. There were unidentified cars parked near the entry for 2 days of my trip, support was slow to respond.

Nice house, great location. Stairs to the second level are not for anyone with even a hint of a mobility issue. Property management company leave a a lot to be desired. For example - asking for a 50 dollar fee for an early check in that was 12 minutes before the official check in time. Would avoid properties under this company.

Beautiful setting in the rolling hills of VT. Home is spacious, comfortable and well supplied. There is a narrow dirt road for the last mile to the property and an unmarked trench across driveway which causes vehicles to bottom out even at low speeds. We were told there would be a house manual in the kitchen when we arrived but it was not there. There is little to no cell service and no landline so we spent the first half hour trying to get the wifi password from host. All garbage and recycling bins were full at arrival - had to contact multiple times to get them emptied. Kitchen had everything we needed and more. Pool is very large but the robot vacuum was left in the pool and was malfunctioning. House was advertised as air-conditioned but only has window units in bedrooms. Power went out on the 4th day and there is no generator. We waited for 5 hours without water, internet or air-conditioning but finally checked out just before dark as there was no estimate on restoration

The couch smelled like mold/mildew as did the towels. The sheets and pillow cases smelled musty not fresh or clean. Paint missing from walls and trim, stains on carpet. Black mold/mildew in shower around tub. Plastic cover on jets in tub kept coming off. It’s all outdated. Left to get some dinner and code no longer worked when we came back. It said there was a door to the balcony from the bedroom but they had it all taped up. We stood in the freezing wind for twenty minutes waiting for help. It was our 21st anniversary and I expected so much more for over $400 a night. I looked at other places in the area after we checked in and there were much nicer places for less! We won’t be staying here again!

We arrived after 4 PM and the cleaners were still there, but that was no big deal… the house was clean and immaculate inside and out. We woke up the next morning and it was warm upstairs. We actually waited to contact the host until the next day (Monday) to see if the AC would catch up. It got warmer. The host requested that we send pictures of the thermostat and they sent a guy out the same day. That's when they admitted its an ongoing issue with the upstairs AC. I was under the impression it was going to get fixed because they said another technician would be out. When I asked about the technician not arriving, they requested more pictures of the thermostat and of the windows and doors as if I were the one to blame for the faulty AC unit. It was not a fun experience coming off the hot beach and the only showers and beds are in the warm upstairs. And I was not a fan of catching the blame for the AC not working, we made sure no windows were open, and the doors were closed at all times.

My girlfriend and I planned a stay here for a vacation 10 days prior. Not sure if it was the host or air bnb but whomever waited until the day of our check in to verify our age which was past the non refundable deadline even though my age is on my profile and then proceeds to say they will wait to hear back. Their response time was not good at all and it was basically all AI responses. We ended up not being able to go and not able to get even a portion of our money back and it was a huge inconvenience. Basically a waste of time and money for nothing and it’s quite upsetting because I’m 23 and my girlfriend is 24 and the minimum age was 25. Air bnb should’ve have even let me book this stay and my whole Memorial Day weekend has been ruined and wasted.
